Vader and Obi Wan CANNOT meet

I don't like Christensen's portrayal as Anakin, but don't mind that he's back. But one thing that absolutely cannot happen is Vader and Obi Wan meeting. You can't overwrite the OT for TV show.

reply

I hope we see them meet. Who cares what was said back in 1977. Lets hope Disney continues to build on their Star Wars greatness

reply

Disney, Star Wars and greatness in the same sentence.

Thanks for the laugh, needed that.

reply

Stop with your white privilege. Disney has done a fine job with Star Wars

reply

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

reply

no.

reply

You must've been doing the weed while you watched the Disney trilogy.

reply

What did his comment have to do with race? And it will be a plot hole if Vader and Obi-Wan meet.

FYI Disney Star Wars sucks and it has nothing to do with race, it's just poorly written.

reply

The plot hole in A New Hope was the fact that Luke is living out in the open on Vadars home planet using the last name of Skywalker

reply

Sorry kid, but it's not a plot hole when the characters don't act the way you think they should.

reply

Oh you are one of them that still doesn't understand what a plot hole is. Let this college kid help you here. Luke should be in hiding as depicted when he was born at the end of episode 3. Therefore in episode 4, he uses the last name of Skywalker instead of Lars, which is what his Uncle Owen was. Its a plot hole that Luke lives out in the open unaware about the Skywalker last name. Luke should not even know that last name. Of course the real reason is Lucas makes this up as he goes along and during filming of episode 4, it was never thought of that Luke was Vadars son.

reply

Definition of a plot hole: an inconsistency in the narrative or character development of a book, film, television show

A plot hole would be Vader and Obi-Wan meeting during the course of the show and then somehow in Episode IV which takes place after the show they are somehow having their epic final battle and are meeting for the first time since Episode III. That is a plot hole. You having a problem with how the characters act or what name he chooses to take is not a plot hole. Maybe it's dumb, that's fine but it's not a plot hole. Someone else said it was a plot hole in TDKR that Bane didn't take off Bruce's knee brace, that isn't a plot hole, that is just Bane making a decision you don't agree with, same thing here.

Your college professor really sucks little boy. You need to find a better mentor.

reply

The big plot hole in TDKR is all the police are stuck down in the sewer for several months. Yet when they come out finally, they are all clean shaven and fully ready to fight. Thats why that movie was a disaster. I never thought about why Bane didnt remove Bruce's knee brace. Wow, how many different boards have I beat you down on now?

reply

Lol except you missed the scene where bane was clearly giving the cops supplies. You donā€™t pay attention very well do you? Itā€™s ok little boy, if you need a cry room Iā€™m sure your ā€œcollege professorā€ can find one for you

TDKR was a great film you just werenā€™t smart enough to fully appreciate it, it went over your head

reply

It was an ok film. It was very long. And considering it was the last of the trilogy, too many unanswered questions such as what was with the ending with Alfred sitting down at the cafe and seeing Bruce Wayne, who not only should have died in the explosion, but he was with Catwoman lady

reply

Wow you missed the entire point of the film. Bruce fixed the autopilot and ejected at some point before the bomb exploded he then went off to Europe with Selina. Now it was Alfred fantasy that he would see Bruce with a woman and he would know that he was going to be alright and had put the pain of his parents death behind him. This is literally what the entire trilogy had been building up to, you should stick with Disney Star Wars, it doesnā€™t require you to think so much which is clearly not your thing

reply

You must have the uncut version of TDKR because my edition, there is no such scene of Bruce fixing the autopilot on my edition. And now you are claiming that Alfred was fantasying about seeing Bruce with Selina at the cafe? That was no fantasy and nothing suggests otherwise. Unless you have the uncut edition and saw some scenes that were edited out of the original version

reply

Uhhhhh

Technician: This system is completely obsolete
Fox: Please I just need to know what I could have done to fix it
Technician: But sir it's already been fixed, software patch 6 months ago
Fox: Check the name
Technician: Hmmmm, Bruce Wayne

Were you even awake or sober when you watched this??? There absolutely is a scene revealing Bruce fixed the autopilot.

NOOOO I didn't say Alfred was fantasizing, I said before the cafe scene it was Alfred's fantasy (what he wanted to happen) that he would see Bruce across the table with a wife or kids and they wouldn't say anything to each other but they would both know that Bruce was going to be alright.

Seriously kid you missed the basic premise of this movie, you missed the entire theme and Bruce's character arc, stick with something that's easier to follow

reply

I must have missed that part. Like I said before, it was a very long movie. Some parts just dragged on and on. I like the movies with more action scenes in them. Every Star Wars movie has been better than TDKR

reply

Yes I know, stories that actually take their time to flesh out their characters in intelligent manners rather than the characters just reciting their characteristics to the camera (like MaRey Sue does) aren't really for you. I'm sorry your ADHD prevents you from paying attention longer than a few minutes, that's why you'd love TFA there is constant action every 5 minutes despite having no buildup and it's a very easy to follow story that requires no thinking at all. The deep themes about social class, order and structure (which mirrors one of the greatest novels of all time A Tale of Two Cities) definitely went right over your head and A Tale of Two Cities is definitely too advanced reading for you.

reply

A film franchise that also blows away the Dark Knight movies is The Fast and Furious franchise. That has some of the best action scenes ever depicted on screen. Best stunts ever. I don't care for stories that need a lot of time to flesh out their characters. We live in a society where we want instant results and or gratification. Thats what Fast and Furious and Star Wars gives us

reply

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Good one little boy.

reply

You don't feel ashamed today getting an online beat down on this site, where many people are reading?

reply

LOLOLOLOL, your college professor has really warped your reality, your mother should sue whatever diploma mill you attend for indoctrination. I bet next you are going to say that the Human Centipede Trilogy is better than the Godfather trilogy.

reply

Never saw that Human Centipede trilogy and only seen the 1st Godfather movie. And that film was so boring. Way too slow. If you want to see a good gangster movie, watch Goodfellas or Scarface

reply

Ha so again you reveal your inability to pay attention to anything g that doesnā€™t have loud, constant action. I figured The Godfather would be too deep for you. Stick with Disney Star Wars definitely a lot closer to your intelligence level

reply

Please refrain from posting me. After talking to my college professor, you are deemed a very dangerous person

reply

ā€œPlease refrain from posting meā€ your college professor obviously sucks

reply

I'm telling him what you just said about him

reply

Woa I'm scared (not)

reply

You better hope he doesn't have connections with the administrators of this site and gets you banned. I have seen him to do some remarkable things

reply

Clearly teaching you proper English isn't one of them.

reply

I can't believe you keep coming back for more. You want more of an online beat down?

reply

LOL, whatever you have to tell yourself to maintain your deluded fantasy and to help you sleep at night. Tell your professor I think he's a quack, junior.

reply

You still coming back for more? Haven't I beat you down enough already

reply

Your professor is a joke, you a living proof.

reply

My professor asked me to tell you not to reply back to my posts.

reply

Lol you canā€™t take the heat anymore you coward

reply

I no coward. I beat you down on every debate. Its a riot you keep coming back for more

reply

"I no coward" LOLOLOL I bet you'll blame your inability to construct a grammatically proper English sentence on your favorite scapegoat: Racism. So pathetic. You have been absolutely owned on here, everyone thinks you're a joke. I will always be a winner and you will always always be a loser.

reply

Stop posting and stalking me. This will be the last time I tell you. You lost. Get over it

reply

Translation: waah waah stop being mean to me, Iā€™m a fragile little snowflake

reply

My professor is watching you

reply

Tell him I think he's a fraud.

reply

Oh, I told him that and a whole lot more

reply

Good, this guy sounds like a scumbag

reply

Translation: waah, waah, waah, leave me alone you bully, you're hurting my fragile little feelings, waah, waah, waah.

reply

I don't know. At first I thought the same thing with the autopilot being fixed bruce would have escaped before the bomb went off. But then that would ruin the emotional investment in Bruce's sacrifice and also we don't see alfred and bruce framed together in the final scene so we are left to our own interpretation as to if it is a fantasy or not. IE would have expected a much different reaction from alfred seeing bruce other then a head nod in a random cafee like this.

reply

Itā€™s not a fantasy there is nothing to suggest it was. Bruce survived

reply

Yea I try to be optimistic and reached that conclusion.

reply

I bet you really needed the "don't hold my hand" scene because without it you'd never understand that Rey was intended to be a "strong female character" (even though she comes across as an entitled princess)

reply

You seem to be missing a lot more than that

reply

Don't believe me, here's the scene kiddo, just skip to 2:47:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYj4Aq5fdjk

reply

I guess the plot hole is after EP3 they literally went into hiding as the Republic became an Empire and the hunt/purge of all the Jedi started happening. Although, one could make it out where after Obi-Wan gave Luke away to the Lars, he probably would meet Vader in some isolated or near isolated area during a mission of sort or happenstance like they did on the Death Star where they would have one final battle where Vader would have a slight upper hand that will force Obi-Wan to retreat and Vader warning him to never show his face to him again because he does mention in EP4 that he should have never come back and that he's grown weak.

reply

The only good thing about the Disney Trilogy is the rifftrax guys destroying it

reply

Star Wars and greatness are right in the same sentence ;-)

reply

You cannot seriously want them to undermine the OT. You have to be a troll.

reply

Don't push your white privilege on me because we differ on opinions

reply

He didn't.

reply

What does white privilege have anything to do with it? Don't push your troll privilege.

reply

He claims he was enlightened by this ā€œcollege professorā€ who taught (I mean indoctrinated) him that white people need to bend over and fall before people who arenā€™t white and beg their forgiveness that society favors them, and heā€™s apparently so smart that he can tell this simply by looking at a person (yet apparently The Godfather and The Dark Knight were way too slow for him to understand, I literally just had to explain the ending of TDK to him). He also feels that heā€™s entitled to refer to African Americans who donā€™t vote the way he thinks they should as ā€œUncle Tomsā€, I half suspect he is a Republican who is trolling these boards in an effort to make Democrats look crazy (although they needed very little help from him)

Edit: he also apparently didnā€™t know that Norway was a country and the fact that I knew it was a country is simply because I benefit from.... you guessed it: Racism

reply

Really!? I like to think that nobody can be this easily brainwashed (but I'm probably just being naive). One needs to be more than thick in the head to act the way you just described and not be embarrassed about it. Fuck... what ignorance can do !

I feel Bertrand Russell is more relevant in this day and age than ever:
"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.."

reply

As a white person in this country, he is able to attain a far better education compared to a minority. It was on full display when he knew where a certain country was located in Europe. This was a country that is never talked about or in the news. In other words, we are not talking about Germany or France or Italy. Racism exists within our education system here

reply

No. He was talking about Norway. It's not a shady little known country. All it requires to know about it is a very basic knowledge of the world aka general culture. Racism and white privilege have nothing to do with it. I myself didn't get to have a higher education and still know this.

I don't know what country you are in but the only valid excuse would be if your elementary education system failed you. It's your responsibility to go get that basic knowledge school is not providing. Start reading more books. Articles. Watch documentaries. Feed your brain enough and you'll become credible. Expand your knowledge in general and people will stop looking down on you and start taking you seriously.

reply

I live in New York. We never learned anything about Norway in school

reply

I find that surprising but it's true that the USA seems like a very self-centered country that wouldn't spend too much time on "not-america" things (although I admit this is just an impression).

reply

USA is a horrible racist country but we are trying to change our ways

reply

Yeah well... I think that this year (especially) the whole world saw the huge frictions within your nation. It was a horrible year for everyone but especially for you guys. We can only hope that after going this low, things can only get better. Right?

reply

Yes and it gets worse when racists such as that movieChatUser497 poster spread their poison and flaunts their white privilege

reply

I won't debate with you about all that. I'll just point out that it looks to me like you are mixing up everything and making it converge toward white privilege.

I think only time and education (self-taught if needed to) will make you realize how conveniently simplistic and intellectually lazy this is.

If you choose to be a fanatic/radical about a movement or an ideology, following it blindly without ever trying to see the other side of the coin, the more simple minded you'll be perceived. And frankly... I don't think anyone likes to be labeled a blind sheep or an ignorant. These are the people who are easily indoctrinated.

Tunnel vision and global awareness don't go well together. So educate yourself. The more you'll learn and the more open minded you'll approach things, the better enlighten you'll become, in general, and the more respected your voice will be.

More knowledge is more power.

You seem pretty young with everything ahead of you. Be curious and do what you have to do. Good luck to you man.

reply

[deleted]

It would be much more exciting if they did meet

reply

It would be awesome, but then there goes the continuity, something Star Wars is known for.

reply

Who cares about continuity. It would be much more exciting and interesting if they meet

reply

What were you born in like 1999 or something?

reply

Close. 1998. Why?

reply

Close. 1998. Why?

reply

Coz only boomers at least born 1964 know how starwar works

reply

Movies sucked back in your day anyway. The light saber battle in episode 4 with Vadar and Obi Wan is painfully bad to watch. To me, Star Wars began when I was 1 years old with episode 1. Episodes 4 thru 6 are bad

reply

Are you from Norway?

reply

Norway, where? Never heard of that city

reply

Norway is a country, genius.

reply

Stop flaunting your white privilege to me

reply

Explain how that is a relevant comment?

reply

You are white, which means you grew up getting a better education than others in this country. Of course you will know quickly off hand where every country in the world is. You probably come from a lot of money, off the backs of hard working minorities working for slave wages, and visited Norway

reply

Lol so Iā€™m privileged because Iā€™m smarter than you???? Hahahahahahaha your talking points are getting more pathetic by the day. Your college professor is a joke

EDIT: I see that you use racism to make excuses for your failed and useless life but just out of curiosity is there anything you can't use racism as an excuse for?

reply

Racism happens to be a major crisis in this country, right up there with Covid. Except a vaccine is being distributed for Covid. We have no vaccine for your kinds of racism. And are you bragging about being smarter than a kid who is in his 2nd year of college? After I'm out of college, I fully expect to be way smarter than you and that includes to know where most countries are located

reply

LOL I knew where Norway was in 2nd grade, kiddo. But thanks for admitting that I'm smarter than you, I agree with you. Maybe since you just admitted that I'm smarter than you maybe you should wise up a bit and listen????????

You didn't answer my question, are there any aspects of your sad, miserable life that you can't use racism as an excuse for?

reply

I'll talk to my college professor and get back to you

reply

LOL so you don't even know, you can't say with a straight face that there are things out there you can't use race as an excuse for. You are the definition of an entitled snowflake.

reply

My college professor is going to be steaming mad at you

reply

Lol for asking you a question? Also why should I give a good damn what he thinks? If heā€™s anything like you then heā€™s not even worthy of my respect , also FYI I donā€™t believe this ā€œprofessorā€ of yours even exists you even admitted you werenā€™t very smart so I doubt you even got into college

reply

he has a point, being smarter is a privilege.

but he proved his racism claminig that only white people can be smart ..

reply

Heā€™s trolling, he admitted it to me on the A View To A Kill board

reply

Oh, that's clear.

I was just trolling him as well :D

reply

Yeah earlier when someone asked him "If Trump is so racist then why did he get the biggest percentage of the black vote of any Republican Candidate since whenever", and millsey's response was "well there are still way too many Uncle Tom's out there who don't know what's good for them"

reply

I see now you are talking about Norway in Europe perhaps? I am from America

reply

No, the Norway in Texas you idiot
Can't win an argument, scream Racism!

reply

What do you mean, can't win an argument. I've been beating down that movieChatUser497 on various forums across this site. He has been beaten to submission. Not knowing where a hardly ever mentioned country in Europe is has no bearing on anything

reply

Meet, they cannot.

reply

Let them meet. Hayden needs to stop being so whiny as he was in the PT.

reply

Why Not???

In ANH Vader says "When I left you, I was the learner. Now I am The Master." However at the start of Revenge of the Sith Anakin was already a Jedi Knight and joined the Jedi Council, and was not Obi-Wan's Padwan anymore. So continuity is already a bit sketchy there. And there is no direct reference to Mustafur being their last meeting, or that it's been 20 years.

Also not only does Obi-Wan immediately recognize Darth Vader, but he knows that it's what Anakin became. So at some point he has to learn all this, and there is no indication how he does. Perhaps he does make an attempt to kill Vader.

Or maybe they communicate thru the force.

reply

"So continuity is already a bit sketchy there."

Stop.

reply

Are you seriously arguing that there is any sort of continuity in that original trilogy, or anywhere in Star Wars? How much of Star Wars was rewritten and retconned for Empire? Obi-Wan and Anakin could meet up in some fashion without ruining anything. If anything, it would only serve to strengthen the narrative. Right now, we don't have any solid sense of why Obi-Wan, after defeating Anakin, and seeing his Jedi friends all killed, decided to hide. Why didn't he go after Darth Vader to finish him off? Why didn't he try to fight the Empire anymore? Was he a coward? Or was there some other reason?

To put it another way-- if we look at Star Wars as an isolated film, everything we need to know is there. Had they stopped there, fine, but once they rewrote and retconned to create the next 8 films, and cartoons, tv shows, etc., there are suddenly a lot of plot holes and unanswered questions.

reply

"Right now, we don't have any solid sense of why Obi-Wan, after defeating Anakin, and seeing his Jedi friends all killed, decided to hide"

Are you actually insane?

reply

You are just looking to troll it seems. I'm not into arguing or insulting here. I stated my opinion, I'm happy to discuss yours, but not in the tone you take.

reply

how many time have you seen Vader alone in the OT?

reply

Why is that relevant?

reply

"Why didn't he go after Darth Vader to finish him off? Why didn't he try to fight the Empire anymore? Was he a coward? Or was there some other reason?"

Obi-Wan, a single guy, hunted by everyone, going after the Empire de facto leader which is not just a pretty strong Sith but 100% of the time surrounded by a huge army???

The reason was simple: when he went into hiding the empire won ... everything. All Jedi dead, all Republic and potential allies gone.

Plus: he was looking over one of the siblings.

Even the ANH, the story is NOT about how Obi-Wan and Luke will hunt and crush Vader but how they will be sneaky and save Leia with a surgical strike.

reply

Is that the Jedi way? After all, we saw Obi-Wan and Anakin face off against entire armies on multiple occasions in those god-awful prequels, and in general the Jedi don't strike me as a cowardly bunch. It seems that Obi-Wan and Yoda, arguably the two most powerful Jedis of all, would seek to avenge the murder of their entire Jedi family, not to mention do their best to stop Anakin and the Empire from all the evil they will no doubt do, or die in the attempt.

reply

Well, the Jedi had been at the forefront of big armies in the prequels.

They had the Republic and the Senate to back them up, ships, troops, clones, etc.

They were NOT alone against a formidable foe as the empire + Vader.

And, as you saw in the OT, both Yoda and Obi have been hiding ...

A Jedi against a small army? Maybe, quite possible. A Jedi against a small army AND a Sith or 2? Nope.

reply

What else would be the point of a Kenobi series? Kenobi goes off to Tatooine to live in exile for two decades. And...that's it. So, unless random fan-service "Star Wars" characters show up, what's the point? None that I can see.

reply

The point of an Obi Wan show is only to show him and Vader meet and fight?

The OT is pretty clear Obi Wan went into hiding. He didn't even know the Alliance existed until he got Leia's message. He wasn't some behind the scenes operative.

reply

I hope Disney takes this serie seriously. In my opinion, Obi-Wan is one of the best characters in this franchise and it could be interesting to know a little more about him.

reply

[deleted]

Sounds like something Lucas would write.

reply

It might be interesting if we see how Obi-Wan learned Anakin became Vader without them actually coming face to face. Basically, they could pull a Rogue One.

reply

Thats not interesting. They need to fight and perhaps the emperor will come to Vadars aid

reply

I think part of the story will be his utter shock and despair of Anakin turned Vader. I read that somewhere.

reply

I completely agree, but they will because of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

reply

It's been quite a while since I've seen these movies....but if memory serves, the last time Vader and Obi-Wan see each other (before their light saber battle in A New Hope) is in Episode III.....when they had that epic battle on that burning planet amidst all that lava and Obi-Wan came out on top.

They were both quite young at the time of that battle......and they were old when they met up again in A New Hope and had their battle. This means there's a huge gap of time that passed between those 2 times they met and battled each other. Wouldn't this new Ob-Wan series/movie simply be an interesting opportunity to fill in that huge gap....and show us some of what happened during the time those two were young and when they got old? They certainly could have come across each other many times during that gap.

reply

It was 20 years between episodes 3 and 4, and this is set 10 years after episode 3. Rebels, Rogue One, and canonized comics even after Disney bought the franchise have largely filled in gaps. Also, if Lucas intended that they had a rematch he would have allowed novelizations and the expanded universe to fill in those gaps. Additionally, commentary in the making of episode 3 shows that's not what he intended. I just feel like this was established 35 years ago (in real time) and now they decide to change it.

This feels like a cash grab and Disney retconning an old storyline. I don't need/want them to explore every miniscule detail of every character in SW. Maybe we get a Yoda v Palpatine rematch too? I would have much rather preferred that they did a series or film of Vader much like the comics are doing. Some of them are just excellent stories and would be an awesome film. Or even pull a story from the old now Legends canon. Maybe we will get a Darth Bane and the rule of two film which would be great. Or even maybe they would do something crazy and original far in the future or past with entirely new characters!

reply

I see what you're saying. And yes, they are definitely retrofitting new stories wherever there are gaps in the SW universe. That said, if they've decided that's what they are going to do.....it could indeed be interesting to see continued adventures of a (young) Obi-Wan......and, cool to see what became of Vader in those early years, when he was in his prime. They could do something interesting with that.

For example, Obi-Wan probably at first tried to redeem Vader...and pull him back to reality and the good side of the force.

reply

It's actually not that interesting though because we know he doesn't succeed at turning him back and we already saw it once with the prequels. This is also one of the problems with the prequels and retreading, we know how it all ends which creates a lack of tension and suspense.

I get what you're saying as well. This is what they have decided and it will happen. Given how those guys trained and how skilled they are, I'm sure it will be a great fight sequence. Disney SW writing has been hit or miss imo, sequels were awful, but I love Rogue One and Solo was meh. I haven't watched the Mandelorian, but everyone seems to love it so hopefully they have some good writers and come up with something clever. Hey since it's Obi-Wan v Anakin, maybe get George Lucas involved.

reply

Iā€™m not sure it ever needs to be a fight rematch between Vader and Obi-Wan. Just seeing their story arcs in their badass primes would be cool.

But I hope Lucas doesnā€™t get involved. He writes like a 13 yr old. I mean....ā€blastersā€? The ā€œDeath Starā€?? Really?

reply

Seems to have caught on with a "few" people lol

He's a good writer, but an awful director. I meant he get involved to flesh out the characters and assist with story since he did create them and knows them best.

reply

He used to be a good director, pre 1980 but lost it somewhere along the way. He was NEVER a particularly good writer even in the beginning and never became one. He was a very good idea man, but he need a screenwriter to polish and refine his ideas..

reply

Well those names beat what he originally called them in his first Star Wars draft - Pewpews and The Space Ball.

reply
