Wait Jon snow is screwing his aunt?

? Also what about the little guy!

reply

He sure is
And if my aunt looked like that...

reply

Just remember.... neither one knows they are aunt and nephew.

And even if they did, it probably wouldn't matter in a world where royal incest is common.

reply

Same as in our world pretty much.

reply

Well I don't see Daenary's having much issue with it, with her being a product of incest. But, she will have issue with his claim.

reply

yes-- if Cersei can have a baby with her own brother, then Daenerys having a relationship with her nephew should not be a problem.

reply

Um, ditto. Like 4 baby's for Cersei........ especially since they(Jon and his aunt) had no freaking clue of their relatedness

reply

Will she? It's hard to say. There are a couple of possibilities. For one thing Jon's a man of his word, and he's sworn fealty to her. Asserting a claim over hers would abrogate that allegiance he swore, and he might not be willing to do that. Dany herself might be willing to admit that his claim trumps hers (though admittedly that seems unlikely). And it's also possible that they could mutually choose to sidestep the whole issue by a marriage of alliance. The Targaryen's have practiced incest for centuries, so their being blood relatives is no impediment in that sense. Jon has the allegiance of the North, which he gained independently of any birthright; Dany has her dragons, and the Dothraki and Unsullied. An alliance makes all the sense the world, and no other prospective mate brings either of them anywhere near as much advantage as they get from marrying each other. And they're attracted to each other to boot. So there seems very little to stand in the way of a marriage of alliance. Doubtless Tyrion will counsel Dany to make such an alliance as well, when the time comes. Varys will probably also add his support to the idea.

I have little doubt that in season 8, to maintain the dramatic tension of the show, the writers will come up with something that puts such an alliance in doubt. But I also think that issue will probably be resolved, and we will see Jon and Dany marry in the end and unite the seven kingdoms under their rule.

(As an aside, I wonder if we will see Jon proved beyond any doubt to be a Targaryen by displaying the same immunity to fire that Dany has.)

reply

Yeah, that scene where Drogon takes immediately to Jon (surprising Dani) does seem to imply recognition that hey, this guy is family, so I'm guessing he shares her immunity to fire. Unlike the youngest brother who got his "crown" and died on the spot.

It's always possible Dani will support Jon as the true heir ... eventually. She did admit that if she'd listened to him from the beginning, things would have turned out better. So who knows? She'll probably struggle with the choice once she learns the truth. I can see a decision coming after one of Tyrion's little pep talks.

reply

Jon got burned by a lamp in season 1.

reply

Really? Maybe only the Targaryens who actually bond with dragons have the immunity.

reply

No, Danaerys was seen in the first episode entering a bath of scalding water unharmed.

reply

Not all Targaryens are immune to heat or fire.

reply

… as Viserys demonstrated memorably.

reply

Are you certain the lamp fire caused him physical pain and not just trained psychological fear of fire or clothing burning? I can't remember that scene

reply

In the books Jon's hand was really messed up. It took a long time to heal. In the show, you can see him wearing a bandage on it but they never really talk about it.

reply

GRRM stated before that Targaryens are not immune to getting burned and that Dani is a miracle in her own right when it comes to that.

reply

So none of the previous dragon riding Targaryens had the fire immunity, Dani is the first?

reply

According to GRRM, yes.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that this holds true for the TV show as well. But we do know that in the show, not ALL Targaryens are immune to heat.

reply

Darren I am surely hoping that the story ends that way. I want to see them marry and rule together so bad. I'd also like to see at least 1 of the dragons survive but I'm not counting on that 1. I'm thinking that when they fight the Night Walkers it will look like sure doom for all of them. They will be losing bad and right when they are ready to move in and finish them off someone will kill the leader and the rest of the Night Walkers army will crumble.

It's going to be rough waiting so long for the last season. I'm going to have to think a bit on a few things like who would I like to see kill Cersei and who will the writers most likely have kill her. It could even be Jamie after what happened but there are so many good possibilities. Same for the Night King. Arya will probably take out at least 1 more major character.

I just started watching it again from the first episode. I'll be binging for the next week.

reply

I think in the end, Jon will sacrifice himself to destroy the white walkers and that Dany will rule (this will remove any question about which of them is the rightful heir). I do think perhaps she will be pregnant with his child so that it brings the fire and the ice together.

reply

Fire and Ice baby is a cool idea
But im not certain she can ever bear a child again...

reply

I think she will.. I think they mentioned it again for a reason and as Jon said, is crazy witch lady really a reliable source? I think some of the things she said will turn out to be true (ie the sun rising in the west and setting in the east, the seas drying up etc).

reply

Cool with me
We shall see !

reply

People keep forgetting, Jon is already both Ice and Fire, the two halves were brought together when Rhaegar and Lyanna came together to have Jon.

reply

True, I keep forgetting because he only seems to show his Ice side so far... I don't want Jon to die but I think he might.

reply

I would hate for him to die too the most, as well as Tyrion but I fear Tyrion might die next season as well.

reply

I believe their targ spawn will be the prince that was promised....the little blacketh of hair targ baby!!!!

reply

I get the impression that if she gets the iron throne she will feel a calling for something else and go off on her merry spiritual journey after a stint and leave her kingdom to someone else. Jon won't particularly want it and if he gets it lets hope to hell he is not as niave as Ned and Robb as he won't survive long without people protecting him from schemes. Otherwise the 8 kingdoms may break apart again.

reply

"Merry spiritual journey" 😂 Kind of like "Eat, Pray, Love" with dragons?

reply

»But, she will have issue with his claim.«

Yes, I think she will.
But there are ways not to make an issue of it.

Firstly, the could marry. They’re in love anyway, and with being married, who cares who of them has the better claim?

Secondly, we can be quite sure that Jon isn’t even interested in asserting that claim. He didn’t want to be King in the North, why would want to be King on the Iron Throne?
He could simply renounce the throne, just like Aemon did.

And thirdly…
well, I’m not certain that either of them gets to sit on the Iron Throne…

reply

Might be awkward later, but then again, Jon still will feel more Stark than Targaryen either way.

reply

Yeah Tyrion was acting like a creeper.

reply

Tyrion worries that lust clouds vision. He has seen it before with his siblings. And he may feel bad for his bro jorah who loves danaerys.

Add to that the dramatic irony at play. Get it? Another incestuous relationship Tyrion has front row seats for. He doesn't know, but the audience does. Great dramatic irony. Rare these days. Shakespearean.

reply

Shakespearean indeed.

reply

It also occurred to me that perhaps Tyrion is now worried about cerseis unborn child. He hates cersei to a point. But the pregnancy may give him pause if this new power couple decides she should die while pregnant. If danaerys has fallen in love with Jon, Tyrion loses considerable sway in strategic dealing going forward

reply

If my aunt looked like Daenerys, I'd be surrounded by cousin-sons and cousin-daughters.

reply

its not a big deal and its more common than you think. just need to be responsible and use birth control.

reply

House Targaryen has always practiced incest. I say it is in their blood to commit incest. So for Jon to fuck his aunt is only nature calls.
