Most successful actors that are terrible

Actors
Michael Myers

Mark Wahlberg

He had the luxury of being bffs with clooney and the rock. Not a bad action star

reply

He was very good in The Departed

reply

I like him in his comedic roles. Daddy's Home was a good comedy. He nails that middle aged dad who sees himself as young and a bit of a tough guy.

reply

Yes, except he was well cast for Boogie Nights

reply

I have read he had some 'prosthetic assistance...'

reply

Lol!

reply

Adam Sandler

reply

Not a bad choice for this catagory

reply

Robert Redford never impressed me.

Though he usually chose his movies well.

reply

Good one.

reply

Tom Cruise

Too much baggage comes with him.

reply

I can't stand Tom Cruise either!

reply

I really enjoy his film performances
His religious choices and romantic relationships are pretty puzzling
though:/

reply

Tom Cruise

Nope.

reply

He's a good actor, just a strange man.

reply

Exactly, he is a very talented and comited actor. He might not change his appearance like Daniel Day Lewis or Christian Bale but the man gives his best for every film even a musical which is just for a fun style like Mamma Mia which was Rock of Ages.

And another cool thing is that he knows in which type of film he is in. I’ve seen many critics talk about good actors being in a movie in the style of Fast and Furious and act like they are doing an Oscar drama.

But Tom Cruise is not that guy he understands his material and does what he has to for that role.

reply

I enjoy his films, but I don't really like him as a person.

Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Larger-than-life persona, terrible acting skills.

reply

And the best actor in a supporting role, AHnold

reply

Yes and no. He was great as Terminator. Stillness is a skill in acting. Others would have totally overacted that part and he knew how to sell himself as a scary robot killer.

reply

I don't find Scarlet Johansson that talented. She's overrated to the point of delusion. Same with Denzel Washington and Christoph Waltz.

Dwayne Johnson, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana are superoverrated too

reply

I don't know who "overrates" these actors but it certainly seems like there is an award or two available to anybody who stars in a popular movie. I do have to disagree with you on Lawrence though (I've never seen the Hunger Games movies--and perhaps you haven't seen Silver Linings Playbook?).

reply

I respect your opinion but Silver Linings Playbook didn't impress me at all. Bradley showed much better acting and he didn't win the Oscar. Jennifer overacted all the time. I didn't find her acting natural. I was working with "problematic" people like Jennifer's character

reply

Denzel is pretty damn good in my opinion. I liked him a lot in Training Day.

reply

I don't hate Denzel. I like him but I don't see any versatility in his acting.

Yes, he was great in Training Day but was that Oscar worthy?

reply

I agree about him lacking versatility. He has the same problem of all of these other "Oscar bait" actors like Glenn Close and Meryl Streep. He's only good in Oscar bait movies, but is barely passable in anything else. Russell Crowe and John Lithgow acted circles around him in his more mainstream movies.

reply

I'm still shocked Russell didn't win another Oscar for his fantastic job in A Beautiful Mind. That was the real class of acting!

reply

I thought he overacted some parts actually.

reply

Yes, on Scarlet Johansson. She's only popular because every decade, Hollywood picks a blonde actress to be that era's "It" girl, or blonde bombshell.

reply

Although there are a few exceptions, in most movies Kevin Costner sounds to me like he is reading his lines.
