MAGA supporters brutally beat Jussie Smollett

Actor Jussie Smollet, star of the show 'Empire' was brutally attacked outside a Chicago Subway sandwich shop early Monday morning. The two white men beat him up, put his head in a noose, and yelled "This is MAGA country!"

The altercation started when the 36 year old gay black actor - who had just arrived in Chicago from New York - was leaving the sandwich shop around 2 am. Someone yelled out, "Aren't you that f***ot 'Empire' n*****?"

The two white men - wearing ski masks and MAGA hats- approached Smollet and brutally beat him. The actor fought back, but suffered a fractured rib. The two men then put a noose around his neck, poured bleach on him, and then yelled "This is MAGA country!" before leaving him. The actor was taken to Northwestern Memorial where he was treated.

Just eight days ago, an anonymous letter was sent to the actor at FOX Studios in Chicago, with "MAGA" written in the top corner for the return address. The letter says, "You will die black f**." in cut-out letters.

Chicago police are investigating these two incidents as a 'hate crime' and checking the neighborhood for surveillance cameras.

"Given the severity of the allegations, we are taking this investigation very seriously and treating it as a possible hate crime," said Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi . "Detectives are currently working to gather video, identify potential witnesses and establish an investigative timeline. The victim is fully cooperating."

Well, it's looking more and more like this was staged by Jussie. Police are investigating whether he staged the attack because he was being written off Empire. The two "attackers" are of Nigerian decent and were extras on "Empire." Police rejected his phone records in PDF form and called it heavily redacted. They have also questioned Jussie today after the two suspects were taken into custody. He's done for. No ones going to hire this clown.

I disagree. Charges might have been dropped, but anyone with half a brain cell still knows he made the whole thing up, including the prosecutors, who said they believe he lied. His parents seem to have connections in high places, if you've been paying attention to the news. Please don't make this political if that's why you responded to my original post.

Its also refreshing to see Hollywood turn their back on the guy. Chris Rock was hilarious the other night at the NAACP Awards.

Exactly! I was incensed when I heard it & a pundit in today's news claimed it was behind much of the outrage. I've speculated on how his mother reacted to that behind closed doors. We may ultimately see a real example of unconditional love.

Sorry but its a lost cause. There's not enough evidence to get a conviction as long as Jussie holds his ground.

I think what happened here is Jussie paid someone to do "something" but never wrote anything down as to what exactly they should do to him or when or where. And that money was given to a third party which was eventually passed on to the Nigerian brothers to commit various acts that they thought would fit a hate crime. Then when Jussie was attacked he could play it off like he didn't know what was happening. He might even be able to fool a lie detector though I doubt he would ever agree to one.

It's BS. This guy is the equivalent of that white girl Mayella Ewell from To Kill a Mockingbird, who falsely accused a black man (Tom Robinson) of raping her to cover up for the beating she took from her father for flirting with Robinson. False accusations playing off racial stereotyping are pretty much universally condemned these days. Will Jussie Smollett be able to cash in his black/gay privilege and avoid the public lashings and prosecution he seems to deserve? Imagine a white guy staging a beating and claiming it was at the hands of a couple of Muslims who were shouting "allahu akbar!"

Al Sharpton is not President. Al Sharpton may support the Democratic Party, as is his right, but he is not being officially endorsed by its executive committee.

And Trump did take it upon himself to publicly and viciously condemn five innocent men of a rape, even going as far as to call for a return of the death sentence. So, yes, his actions are comparable to Sharpton's.

You obviously know nothing about the dozens upon dozens of overtly racists statements and actions of Al Sharpton. His resume in this regard eclipses Trump's by a longshot. Look 'em up. Google "Al Sharpton racist statements". Like the ignoble con man Jesse Jackson, he also extorts corporations by threatening bad publicity of a racially inflammatory variety, even if they've done nothing to deserve it. I'm sure Trump has extorted people in his own manner, but not with all the toxic racist garbage that Sharpton has. If the focus is on racially divisive behavior done in a purposefully disingenuous manner, then you're blindly partisan if you think Trump even compares.
