Anne Heche "Not Expected To Survive" After Severe Brain Injury, Will Be Taken Off Life Support

Anne Heche's family and friends had been hoping for a miracle following the Emmy-winning actor's horrific car crash last Friday. It didn't come, and her closest ones are making the difficult decision to take her off life support after she was pronounced brain dead. She is being kept on a ventilator until it's determined whether any organs not damaged in the crash and subsequent fire can be donated.

"We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne's recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital," a rep for Heche's family and friends told Deadline.

"Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive."

That's the gist of it I guess..

u read me betch

Does anyone know why she jumped up on the stretcher after the accident? In fact, the firemen had the sheet over her face. Her whole body was covered except her leg. Here is the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNi_4eAceSA

reply

Oh god did she?? I can’t watch that.. scared of nightmares.

reply

It might have been a seizure she was having. That is from a brain injury.

reply

She got up and tried taking the restraints off. Crazy ...

reply

She is wasn't dead. They used the wrong equipment on her.

reply

Pretty nuts but a properly drugged up human body is basically invincible.

reply

Had been breathing toxic smoke for close to an hour which burned her insides/respiratory system. One must assume she was desperate due to extreme pain.

She was also (allegedly) under the influence of cocaine, perhaps making her even less cooperative and unaware of surroundings?

reply

Doctors reportedly say she has six days, seven nights.

reply

THAT IS ACTUALLY VERY CLEVER...BUT FAIRLY FUCKED UP.

*guilty chuckle*

I guess this Thursday story gets a retraction. Still would like to know what drugs makes you go kamikaze.

There's a new update on Anne Heche's recent car crash. In a new statement to NBC News, the Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson Jeff Lee confirmed that the Aug. 5 incident involving the Six Days, Seven Nights actress—who remains in "extreme critical condition" at the hospital—is being investigated as a felony DUI traffic collision. Lee told the outlet that a preliminary test of her blood "revealed the presence of drugs," though authorities could not comment on the "presence of cocaine, fentanyl or alcohol at this time." Specific details will be determined by an additional, second testing to "to rule out any substance/medication administered at the...

I think I saw her on aTV show, other than that, I only knew her as Ellen's ex, I had a funny feeling she would not make it, I feel bad for her sons. I lost my mom to a diabetic stroke in my mid 20's. But like many have stated. Her behavior was reckless despite her having emotional and substance issues.

reply

This is somewhat surreal and strangely coincidental for me. Watched her just hours ago in The Juror (1996), where she played a doctor with substance abuse issues. I was unaware of this accident until a brief news clip earlier this morning.

reply

I'm sorry to hear this - it's a sad way to end.

reply

Anne Heche is an organ doner so hopefully she will saves lives upon her death.

reply

I don't think her organs are in very good shape, after being in a burning car.

reply

After such a horrific accident, I seriously doubt there would be any major organs worth donating.

reply

Kidneys and maybe heart

reply

Modern buildings and cars contain a lot of plastics and chemicals, and when they catch fire they can give off toxic fumes. So in addition to whatever degree of multiple organ failure is going on, there may be toxins in her body that would make transplantation unwise.

And then there's the state of her liver...

reply

And then there's the state of her liver...

And that is the crucial issue right there. A catastrophic injury to the liver can cause the rest of the body to be virtually drowned in un-processed ammonia, etc. Not to mention any pre accident damage to her liver from alcohol/drug abuse.

reply

From the anoxic brain injury I think it is safe to assume her lungs were fucked beyond belief and probably were very efficient at moving toxic fumes into her blood. I'm simply amazed her organs aren't already shutting down do to the lack of oxygen. The anoxic brain injury means they weren't capable of getting her enough oxygen to the brain so every other organ in her body should also be equally starved.

reply

I've always loved her. This is incredibly sad.

reply

I was never much into Ally McBeal, & I'm not really familiar with anything else she did, outside of Volcano (which she was good in), & Donnie Brasco (which she was outstanding in, & should've at least been nominated for an Oscar for)

reply

You should watch Gracie's Choice. She plays a deadbeat drug-addict mom

reply

Sounds like a biopic at this point.
