Gwyneth Paltrow announces her biggest movie regret as 'disastrous' Shallow Hal

Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed her least favourite movie role ever, and it's quite a surprise.

The 47-year-old actress has listed the hit comedy 'Shallow Hal' as bottom of the barrel when it comes to her career.
In the movie, Chris Martin's ex-wife played obese woman Rosemary who is seen as a more slimmer version of herself by Black's character Hal Larson after he is hypnotized.

The Oscar-winning actress and Goop lifestyle brand founder referred to her role as Rosemary in the Farrelly brothers 2001 comedy as "a disaster."

Despite the popularity of the blockbuster, Gweny has admitted that she wasn't a fan of her own acting in the flick.

The star revealed her dilemma in a video for Netflix where she quizzed her assistant and BFF, Kevin Keating about how well he knows her.

Gwyneth also went on to reveal that she found it 'disturbing' how she was treated when she was a couple of pounds heavier.

For the rather unusual role, Gwyneth was forced to wear a fat suit to portray her character, Rosemary.

The star admitted that she regularly felt 'humiliated' when she seen out in public in the suit while filming, and added that passers by would avoid eye-contact with her due to her size.

She explained: "The first day I tried the fat suit on, I was in the Tribeca Grand and I walked through the lobby.

"It was so sad; it was so disturbing. No one would make eye contact with me because I was obese.

"For some reason, the ... clothes they make for women that are overweight are horrible.

"I felt humiliated because people were really dismissive."

reply

why was she feeling humiliated ?

not only was she acting, she was wearing a suit.
it wasn't really her.

all the good movies from the past have to be shamed now.

and no wonder comedies are shit now....... can't offend anyone or make fun of anyone, except for straight white males.... and that gets pretty boring in the long run

She looks stupid in a fat suit. Why not cast a plus size woman? We got women like Ashley Graham, these women don't need to be depicted undesirable slobs

reply

ehh, she had to look like her.

how you gonna find a lookalike that can act

reply

The character is plus size to begin with i d say finding a woman accrodingly is important. Having casting calls

reply

She needed to play both parts because it would be really hard to make a full-figured actress look skinny, whereas a thin actress can do as Paltrow did and wear a fat suit when her character's "true look" is revealed.

reply

Paltrow looked stupid as hell in a fat suit

reply

If she felt humiliated rather than sympathetic for what the fat girls go through, it's likely because she hates fat people herself.

Seriously, a person who didn't hate fatties would put on the fat suit and think "OMG, is this what fat people go through every day of their lives? They have my sympathy!", while a fat-hater or someone who bases their self-esteem on being fashionably thin thinks "OMG everyone thinks I'M FAT!".

reply

great way for fat fucks to act is..... loose weight

reply

Thank you. That is my impression as well. She experienced the disdain with which obese people are treated in a shallow society, and she doesn't have empathy for the fatties, she just feels disgusted with herself for ever being fat, even if it was fake fat. Such phony vanity!

I think a better name for this movie might have been "Shallow Gwyneth".

reply

Thank you, I shall always call her "Shallow Gwynneth", when I remember her existence!

reply

Shallow Hal is by far, BY FAR, her BEST role.

I usually can't stand the site of her but in Shallow Hal, she's great.

reply

Better then when he was kissing her bubbbies

reply

They've done studies on fat suits and a lot of the time it turns out that the person wearing the fat suit will carry themselves as a loser so are treated so.

A confident thin woman will enter a room with a hello world. Put a fat suit on her and she will carry herself differently.

reply

Nah, unhealthy is just a turn off.

CLICK BAIT ALERT!!!!!!

So when you actually read the article, she doesn't hate the movie, or what it was about. She just hated her acting performance in it, and the perceived difference in how people treated her when she was in the obese suit.

Also I couldn't help but wonder, did people treat her differently in the fat suit because they didn't recognize her, whereas when she wasn't in it, people were like "OH MY GOD, its Gwyneth Paltrow!!!" so of course they were nicer to her.

That's it exactly. She was treated like a normal person instead of a celeb.

reply

yes

wow, she was too shallow to realize that
---- LOL

reply

BINGO!

reply

This film is an odd one because on one hand it has a terrific message about inner beauty but on the other they do make jokes around being fat so it gives a good message about not judging and mocking people for being fat all while making fun and judging people for being fat..

reply

They obviously tried to walk the tightrope between having their cake and eating it too.

reply

It seems like she disliked the film more for the experience than the actual movie or script itself. If anything, the role should’ve been an eye-opener into the lives of the morbidly obese.

Also, who the hell is Chris Martin?

reply

I guess she found out what it was like to be part of the uncool, obese crowd for a change. A pity it didn't teach her some humility. And she's right about the outfits. The clothes they have for full-figured women are awful, even now with trendy clothing lines catering to larger women.

reply

Aaaaaaaaawww!!! poor thing, got paid millions for a job she tought would be all fun but instead she suffer for a few hours what some people have to suffer an entire life

Imagine be so disconect from reality that you worse work experienced in life is that you were treated like a normal person for a few hours 20 years ago
