Mistrial!!!

He's going to walk free.

All praise to Lord Xenu!!

reply

HELL YES!...WHEN THE FUCK IS RAPE GONNA BE MADE LEGAL ANYWAY?...IT'S ABOUT TIME,AM I RIGHT? NOEMOJI

reply

No solid proof he's a rapist. Just based on words from shady characters.

reply

YEAH...WOMEN ARE SHADY CHARACTERS. NOEMOJI

reply

Not all women. Just the toxic ones. I think as a male in Hollywood, you gotta be extra careful around women. Hell, even in real life with female coworkers. You gotta watch what you say or do. Even a firm handshake with a woman can be misconstrued as "sexual assault" or whatever bs like that. It's sad how times have changed.

reply

I REALLY DISLIKE YOU I THINK. NOEMOJI

reply

You are ridiculous. It sounds like you’re a real jerk to have in the office.

reply

?

reply

A firm handshake? People who make up these ridiculous scenarios are only ever over exaggerating because they don’t like having to change bad behavior. Women are always shamed when they speak out about sexual assault. It’s always her fault somehow.

reply

YOU KNOW BETTER THAN TO MAKE A HASTY GENERALIZATION LIKE THAT, KOWALSKI!

reply

That was obvious sarcasm 🙄

reply

Good! Best news I've heard all week. No solid evidence.

reply

Just out of curiosity, what is solid evidence in a rape case?

reply

a woman's word

reply

🙄

reply

Semen, DNA is fairly solid evidence.

I'm sorry maybe this is a "big" thing to say but when you come out with rape allegations YEARS after it allegedly happened, you lose all credibility. How can you have a trial without solid evidence? We're supposed to automatically believe them? False accusations are real too.

reply

But semen and DNA is only evidence that intercourse took place. Condoms can be used. If there is no vaginal or anal tearing, then it is argued that there was no struggle. Even if there is, then it could have just been a little rough. Unless there are witnesses, or other physical signs of struggle it's a he said/she said. Not everyone struggles. Not even having witnesses will guarantee anything.

reply

Wow you sound pretty eager to defend this POS

Totally believable and not at all biased

reply

cool, he can make a comedy with Kevin Spacey and Bill Cosby directed by Woody Allen

reply

I DON'T THINK HE WOULD LIKE MR. SPACEY VERY MUCH. NOEMOJI

reply

No evidence Woody Allen did anything wrong.

reply

There's plenty of evidence that he's made a bunch of lame ass movies. I consider that to be wrong.

reply

Midnight in Paris is incredible. One of my favorites. And he’s had a pretty stellar filmography overall. Just because you don’t like the dude doesn’t change the art he’s made. If you personally don’t like his films, fine, but many of his films are pretty widely recognized as being solid.

It sucks that people can’t make that distinction anymore. Roman Polanski…horrible dude, brilliant filmmaker. Chinatown doesn’t suck because Polanski is a rapist. I am able to dislike Polanski as a person and still think his films are incredible. I wish more people were able to do that in today’s world. I doesn’t mean I’m defending what he did in his personal life because I think Rosemary’s Baby is a classic.

Instead, all you hear is “He did this, his movies suck. He did that, his music sucks. I disagree with “so and so’s” politics, so everything they do is garbage. Blah, blah, blah.”

I just felt the need to add that into the discussion while I was reading all of this stuff. Haha.

reply

He may not have much of a career after this but I'm glad he gets to walk away as it was taking the "me too" thing too far based off of accusations with no proof from the early 2000s.

reply

It's amazing how many people will say, "great news" or "I'm so happy" just because of lack of evidence. First, the justice system is messed, and second just because there's no concrete evidence, that doesn't mean it didn't happen. Do you expect victims to just pull our their phones and start recording while they were being raped? And even if they did, you'd still probably ask, "did she consent before she recorded?"

I can't say whether he's guilty or not,
but I'm not going to jump for joy because I don't know anyone involved and I wasn't there. The amount of people who enjoy seeing alleged rapists get away is seriously concerning. Guaranteed if your daughters accused some guy of rape without enough evidence, you wouldn't be so quick to side with the alleged rapist.

reply

NOT SO WORST TODAY,PAL. NOEMOJI

reply

Before I even clicked on the topic, I knew people were going to be clicking their heels.

reply

Thank you for saying this.

I don't think that people understand why the #metoo movement even started. It had to do with all the people (yes people not just women) who either could come forward because of the power dynamic, or who did come forward and were brushed off by the police. I asked above what counts as actual proof? I've said this so many times here that I feel like a broken record. Police have often not pursued many sexual assault cases because of so many reasons. Like the rapist wore a condom. Or even if he didn't, was there alcohol involved? What were you wearing? Did anyone see?

We've had cases that have gone to court, and the rapists were "promising young men" and then got a slap on the wrist. We've also had a case where a judge in my hometown, told a woman that if she had kept her knees together she wouldn't have been raped.

Yes, there have been false accusations. Maybe more so in the time of social media, but that doesn't mean that every single one is false, but the joy for every person that gets away is, like you said, concerning.

reply

Or even if he didn't, was there alcohol involved? What were you wearing? Did anyone see?

Outside of a courtroom, I've never seen anyone ask the accused rapist: "where were they on that night", "was anyone else with them" or "did they ever have any contact with the accuser whatsoever". They always think the accuser is lying because they're looking for money. Never go to the Bill Cosby boards. They think 60+ accusers want money and fame and it's totally normal to ask women to take Quaaludes before sex.

reply

Or they just want to see the results of a fair trial before passing judgment? That's the human thing to do, after all.

reply

And 20 years ago there is no way these women would have had a day in court.

reply

Tell me you weren't alive 20 years ago without saying you weren't alive 20 years ago...

reply

I've volunteered at a sexual assault crisis centre for almost 30 years. Thanks though.

reply

THAT WAS DUMB...LMAO. NOEMOJI

reply

🤣 20 years ago was 2002, not 1945. Give me a break. Woman were definitely getting heard regarding rape accusations in 2002.

reply

level headed comment

reply

people are glad to see that justice prevails, not mob rule. They jump for joy that the court of public opinion didn't dictate this outcome, and rather facts were the only consideration.

reply

It was a mistrial, he wasn't found not guilty.

reply

But he wasn't found guilty either, which is how our justice system works, so justice was served regardless. A mistrial is better than convicting an innocent person. Also, I saw the jury votes. and they heavily favored not guilty all 3 times.

reply

You missed my point. Even though he hasn't been found guilty, it was a mistrial. Why cheer?

reply

HE HATES WOMEN. NOEMOJI

reply

Why not?

reply

Be ause a mistrial doesn't mean he's innocent.

reply

And I'd rather see a guilty man go free than an innocent man get convicted. Considering the majority of the jury felt he was innocent, I'll consider it a win for justice. At least they didn't convict him simply to appease the masses, as happens from time to time.

reply

Sometimes it's just blatantly obvious that there was some serious rape going on. Example - Harvey Weinstein.

But this case... was very odd from the start and not entirely believable

reply

Look at what you can get away with in America if you have enough money.
Google Michael Peterson - the Staircase Killer

reply

Scientology could be a factor too.

reply

Poppycock! Staircases aren't even alive!

reply

Hmmm, I have had a Twitter account for a while, but never used it until recently when I was curious as to what was going on there. I've noticed quite a few Tweets about Scientology from Leah Remini ... and wow, that organization is really a danger. Worse then radical Islam.

reply

It's always been my policy to question any religion made up by a Sci-Fi author. I'm weird that way.

reply

Yeah, I did some research into Scientology years ago. It's really really bad stuff. There's bad eggs in any religion of course. But yeah, I don't think it's a mistake that Germany refuses to recognize Scientology as a religion. I think they've straight declared that it's an abusive organization.

reply

I wouldn't say he totally got away with it.

reply

He never came inside them!

reply

Thank God! YESEMOJI
