shareletterbox is an overstuffed mish-mash of a site mainly for critic manques and totally unnecessary as long as IMDB exists (and Rotten Tomatoes and MRQE).

Nah. It was that other guy. Kuatorises. He tried to report someone for being racist, then got mad the mods wouldn't do anything about it, so he started spamming the same thing everywhere he could. That's what got him banned. Idk what Kowalski did.

We are mostly in agreement, but it is not my site. Moderators have a set of rules and guidance for enforcing those rules from the site's owner. When multiple warnings are disregarded, stronger action is needed or the rules become meaningless.
I think it is fair to say that the current moderator team is a lot more hands-off than some of our former colleagues, and we do our best to strike the right balance. Regular flak from both sides of actions we take or do not take seems like a good indicator that we are doing ok in that regard.
Well a few years ago MovieChat had a rep for hair trigger bans. But I've been posting here now for about two years and I'd say moderation is fair, nothing excessive. You do a great job. I think the banhappy mods of legend must have left and hopefully won't return. 👍

shareFor quite some time he had a lot of people fooled on here and seemed well respected. I recall the first time I made some remark about him and people sood up for him. Later on there were whole threads criticizing him!! Gee, I guess some people take longer to work shit out.
Trying to argue with these types is pointless, better to block them and enjoy the site. You'll end up being the one who gets banned if you whoop his ass. That's how forums tend to work unfortuntely.
I’ve always found him to be a funny guy, an interesting poster who speaks his mind.
Between KOWALSKI’S mysterious suspension and samoanjoes necessary break to care for family matters this site is gasping for air, they were both top posters in my book.
I like SJ his posts are entertaining. Kowalski is just aggressive, that is my experience with him/her anyway.
There is still actvity on here though, although the poster who keeps posting weird personal question threads is getting old.
I guess we’ll just respectfully disagree on KOWALSKI, that’s cool.
And samoanjoes is a favorite dude of mine, he’s fun.

I am well aware of the history. The trashing was the basis for the current temp ban and previous warnings. However, that does not signal an open invitation for others to do likewise to him, especially in his absence.
I addressed the question publicly in the first place because it was raised in this thread multiple times.
Finally, no, he is not a personal friend. He is a longtime MovieChat member and I have always tempered rule enforcement somewhat in acknowledgement of that status. It is not absolute immunity by any means, as any number of current and former members could tell you. We had a courteous private email exchange and I am hopeful that this will be the end of the matter.
