Good god...the proliferation of posts about certain actresses and celebrities in the last day or so, with revealing pics and questions and statements about how hot they are etc.

What on earth is going on? Is it school vacation or something?

There is sone decent discussion to be had here, but some people seem intent on dumbing the forum down with this rubbish.

I wish these sad sacks would just go back to their basements and jerk off in private instead of spamming this board with their pathetic mastubatory fantasies.

Personally, I think they need a good spanking...Their perversions are choking off genteel conversation and so much of it seems like beating a dead horse

Without knowing the capabilities of the moderators it is impossible to come up with any solution. If at all possible I would suggest blocking the violators IP address. Or even "gasp" make it a pay service. I wouldn't mind spending a few dollars for some descent discussions. It is my opinions that these old posts where purchased with the sole intent of cashing in on them at any cost.

Getting rid of the politics board would be step 1. It's a move and tv show site. I am sure there are political forums they can post on.

Strongly disagree. That board's existence siphons most of the politically obsessed types away from here. Without it the political trolling on this board would be far worse.

Only because politics is allowed in the first place. Politics still creeps onto here as well at times. I don't really care as I don't take the site seriously. But trying to be objective, it might be a more pleasant site without it.

political discussion is almost inescapable now. maybe things will settle down, but i wouldn't count on it.

having a section you can point to and say 'take it over there' keeps that tamped down quite a bit. i think it's almost necessary if you want (like me) to keep this a place you use to escape all that stuff.

Agreed, it’s a hangover from the IMDB boards.

The three most popular movie forums suffer from this, I’ve not seen it happen in other high traffic forums I visit, which are music, history and sports related.

And having politics thrust so high up on a movie forum just looks unprofessional.

Given some films are about politics or have agendas I accept there will always be some politics but it has to be related to the show or film.

Just having people bitch and moan doesn't make for a friendly site.

I agree most forums have a no politics rule. And many are far better moderated in terms of trolling.

The political board is relatively new. People whined because Trump's face was repeatedly popping up so the monitors forbade any further political discussion on the Donald Trump board and the political board was created.

There will still be the bigger problem of hatemongering bigots.

I honestly can't say I've noticed (I'm not doubting the validity of what you're saying). The only solutions are to either scroll past such nonsense and hope that by denying these posts oxygen, that they'll eventually wither and die or to just makes lots of interesting threads that engender decent discussion.

It's like they crawled out of the trailer park...

The biggest flaw of the boards and the why the board has failed and is now currently occupied by just several dozen occupiers and several other dozen sock accounts is because:

1. Google never crawled the site. 'doh!!!!!!!!!
2. There is no search feature to actually "SEARCH" the boards for information.

It's a shame.

Now were left with trending topics such as: Is Steve Urkell to dark? Anti-Vaxxers should be jailed and about 30 post featuring the most famous actress on the planet, Elliot Page.

It truly is a trailer park. A trailer park of trash.

It was a good idea at the time, I give bob smith or john smith or wtf his name was credit for "stealing" IMDB archives.

But you can only bump "Alien" so many times before it gets old.

1. You can search this site using Google by adding site:moviechat.org at the end of ypur query

2. You can't "steal" something that's thrown away.

That doesn't work so well. I've made over 1000 posts, and I used the same name on the IMDB forums and many of those posts are archived here, but when I Googled for "BullSchmidt" that way I only got nine results.
