Lambert was trans?

I didn't know that
https://uk.movies.yahoo.com/iconic-alien-character-canonically-trans-100852955.html

reply

Noooo, trannies were only invented in 1983

reply

Well, to be fair, we only know she was trans from the bio on the screen during the debriefing with Ripley in Aliens, which was 1986.

And the character herself is in the future.

There's nothing in the movie Alien (1979) to indicate she was trans.

reply

LOL! This is a clear case of retrofitting. Back then, she was just considered 'Butchy".

reply

Couldn't get to the article. Does Ridley Scott make this claim?

reply

it says it in the file seen on a computer screen in the film.

reply

found article elsewhere. But screen shot is from Aliens, not Alien. Cameron, not Scott. Interesting regardless. Thanks for the post

reply

you're right. i've only seen the films once or twice and was giving info i glanced at the other day.

reply

Old news.
Cameron wanted to flesh out the characters so added background information for the inquest, but you would have had to have been eagle eyed to spot it back in the day.

reply

Around Prometheus time I remember reading about Dallas having worked for Tyrell Corp in the 'Aliens' CVs

reply

I remember reading a claim on another forum that Cameron was paying tribute to Wendy (formerly Walter) Carlos who composed music for A Clockwork Orange and The Shining.

reply

And TRON!

why does anyone even give a $#!+ about other's sex stuff? especially inside a movie that is not about sex? seriously, what is the infatuation? zero plot affect

reply

Alien is a movie about a giant, vagina-faced penis-monster that rapes everyone to death, the whole movie is about sex.

reply

hahahaha

reply

I don't care. Unless they don't have LGBTQ representation. Then I care!

reply

Pretty insulting to Veronica Cartwright and Scott that Cameron did that. Not his call. If Scott did it in the original movie, no big deal.

reply

Making it something done to a child at birth is problematic in so many ways.... unless there' s mention of her being a hermaphrodite.

reply

It's an EXTREMELY bizarre decision by Cameron regardless. There's no point to it.

reply

I think its neat trans representation. Could have been more fleshed out.

reply

It's not Cameron's character to do that to. Insulting to Veronica Cartwright too. Should have made a new character trans if it was so important to him.

reply

I think he or maybe one of his subordinates did this because of shock value how crazy the future is not because of trans representation. Back then trans characters were either added to laugh about them or portray them as villains or as body horror stuff.

reply

You talked to Ms. Cartwright about this matter? What did she say about it?

reply

Saying a woman looks like a man isn't insulting?

reply

You're the only one suggesting that Cartwright looks like a man. Her character Lambert did not look like a man. The retcon of her history in the Alien sequel did not say she looked like man.

Where are you getting this "looked like a man" crap anyway? It seems that you just don't like Veronica Cartwright.

reply

No she wasn’t
