Speaker Trump?

I heard if the GOP take the house back in 2022 they are going make Trump speaker, is that true?

reply

not sure why they would want that. just get a pet baboon while you're at it

reply

The pet baboon is in the White House.

reply

No, Baboons are amusing not depressing.

reply

Just another leftwing conspiracy theory courtesy the communist Democrat party/media. No surprise their lemmings lap it up. It’s kinda like the whole QAnon thing that only Democrat idiots seem to know anything about.

reply

"leftwing conspiracy theory" really? not a very jiucy one .

Are you saying its never gonna happen and Republicans dont want that?

reply

you Racist Republicans have Cornered the Market on conspiracy we follow facts and Science

reply

Racist? LOL!!!!!!

reply

If the GOP takes back the House, they can select anyone they want as Speaker. If the GOP take the White House, the President and VP could resign, making the Speaker the president.

Can you give any names of Republicans who would be stupid enough to through away their presidency for anyone at all? The people that are that stupid don't get elected president. :)

reply

I think the whole theory/scenario goes something like this: Trump runs for a congressional seat in 2022 & wins + the Republicans take control of the House & retain control of the Senete picking up a couple more seats. They make Trump Speaker. Then they vote to impeach both Biden & Harris, & succeed, thus making Trump President again by way of line of succession.

Needless to say, this theory is WAAAAAAAAY out there!! Ain't gonna happen.

reply

Actually, the Speaker *doesn't* have to be a member of Congress, so this scenario is all too plausible...

reply

Except it relies on Republicans actually elected to office being okay with giving up power that they could have themselves.

reply

I hope so. That would be AWESOME!

reply

Would be awesome.

reply

Just curious, why would that be "Awesome"? Sounds like an attempt to gain power by circumventing the will of the people.

reply

"attempt to gain power by circumventing the will of the people"

Welcome to today's GOP...

reply

Nope.

Not welcoming for me. Not accepting their distorted alternate "so called" facts or reality.

Thanks for the warning though.

Cheers!

reply

You just have to be nominated, no House seat required.
All candidates for speaker must be nominated by members of the House, but they don’t need to be elected lawmakers of the House. Article I, section II of the Constitution says only that the House “shall chose their Speaker and other officers.” So far, the chamber has only chosen its own members as speaker, but a non-lawmaker is possible. Earlier this year, former Secretary of State Colin Powell received a vote for speaker, as did Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky.

reply

Notwithstanding the politically technical and administrative procedure to make this happen it nonetheless is in defiance of the will of the people.

Bravo to you for being able to type that out in such a way as to attempt to normalize both aberrant and abhorrent political behavior that benefits only one person and not society.

Bravo!!!

reply

Its not the will of the people that a dementia patient pretend to be president as well. He was not legally nominated or elected.

Bubba,

You know that NONE of what you typed is true, or even humorous, or even a valid opinion that you hold.

Bernie should have been the democratic candidate but he was put out to pasture by the Clintons and deep state. He got labeled a communist so the DNC wouldn't nominate him.

When the same vigor and tenacity is applied to the 2020 election as it was in 2016, then I might believe that Sleepy Joe might have won. But for now there hasn't been a Federal investigation into the cheating, chicanery and collusion of the 2020 election.

So you are stating that you were a Democrat and or a Bernie-Bro, voted for Bernie in the primary of whatever state you are from and are angry that the DNC and the Clintons somehow snatched his victory away? How many elections had Bernie ever won nation-wide? How much national presidential support did Sanders have? You don't live in Vermont and have never cast a vote for Bernie Sanders for any office that he has campaigned for. You've never contributed a dollar to his campaigns.

Again NONE of what you typed is true and has anything to do with your original post that I responded to. No Federal investigation is/was/needs to be conducted for the 2020 election that Messer Trump (now a private citizen) lost.

Again, you communicate ZERO conviction about anything that you have now typed twice and none of it reflects anything but your "feelings" which are severely misguided, misapplied, and unwarranted.

New reports say that Trump could be Speaker of the House next year.

reply

"Earlier this year...Colin Powell recieved a vote..."

You may not need to be an elected member of the House but I'm pretty sure you have to be living. :)

reply

The tax payers and legal citizens or for Trump.

reply

Since he's already been president, Trump's ego would never allow him to accept a lesser position in government. You'd also have the issue that the Republican Party does not want Trump back in office.

reply

he would be speaker for 2 years and then be President again.

reply

How would that work?

reply

Speaker of the House is a demanding job. tRump doesn't like to work, so I doubt he'd ever take the job. Regardless, GOP would have needed a landslide midterm for that scenario to be possible.

reply

no it isnt, people in Congress only work a few hours a day and a average of 150 days a year. its the easiest job in America. why do think everyone wants to work there? free healthcare, pension, insider information, they can give themselves raises, everyone becomes a millionaire in just a few years.

reply

Speaker of the House is a very demanding job. It's not like being a regular House member. Why would you think that?

Regular members of congress spend half of their time fundraising and (hopefully) meeting with constituents back home.

reply

they only work when congress is in session. they might work an extra hour or 2 a week but its still an easy job.

reply

he would be nominated next month and then serve 2 years and then step down after he wins in Nov. 24.

reply

So what's the point of him being Speaker?

reply

because it would be Trump and liberals would have TDS for 2 years. it would be glorious!

reply

It would be glorious. Republicans would be fighting one another the whole time instead of doing anything useful. Democrats might even be able to pick up defectors and pass legislation.

reply

the only thing congress has passed in the last 2 years is funding for Ukraine and $1.7t and $369 IRA. money is going out the door so fast. no one knows whats going on.

reply

Um...no.
Trump cluelessly endorsed RINO Kevin McCarthy for the post, apparently unaware that McCarthy is as much of a swamp creature as McConnell is.

reply

MAGA was a big loser in the midterms. The next 2 years will prove to you it's going nowhere.

reply

I'm not "MAGA." I'm a conservative. I have fun asking Trumpers who kept Fauci, shut down the economy, gave us Operation Warp Speed, and started us down the road of stimulus checks. Oddly, they usually don't know.

MAGA may well have been a blip on the screen. Conservatism isn't.
