Can we delete this discussion board?

It has nothing to do with movies, actually bumps movies from the main page, and attracts trolls / dumb arguments like a magnet.

It's the first thing I see when I look at MovieChat.Org on my mobile device.

reply

In other words, it's like the IMDB forums which it was intended to replicate.

reply

How about we just ban the idiots? Marxists and people who get "fake facts" from the Lying MSM.

reply

What about the Fascists who get their news from InfoWars, Alex Jones, and FOX? Where will they go?

Oh yeah - they'll head over to the Jeanine Pirro board!

reply

It's a Trump board. I've yet to see a Trumper online who acted civil/intelligent. You might as well go to a pig farm and ask the pigs to stop shitting where they'd eat. You'd get better results over there.

What's really funny is you're too stupid to see the irony in those two sentences butted up against one another.

reply

so true.... libs are simply too stupid to realize the truth about themselves.
They have the media backing them, so therefore they think they are right.

reply

Funny and quite typical.

reply

I agreed. it has nothing to do with movies. delete this discussion board. please

I'd be okay with it staying if it didn't appear on latest posts. So people who don't give a shit about American politics don't have to see this stuff but people who do want to keep discussing can still come here to talk to their fellow mates.

reply

I've been voicing the same views for more than a year. Sadly, the fact that Orange dud has been on film and TV and has been credited as a producer is the fucking loophole that allows this board a legitimate reason to exist.
It's a real shame considering this site has the potential to really grow but this Orange dud and his brainwashed followers help to hog away attention from any film or TV discussion. It's one of the reasons I rarely contribute here along with GD also hogging discussion and the presence of stupid trolls.

reply

Actually, it's the libtards with Trump Derangement Syndrome who drive the posts on this board. It's like they get paid to post here, spending day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year whining like bitches about Trump.

All you have to do is look at the number of posts started by those who hate the man, compared to those who support him. It's like they can't stop themselves. A true psychosis. They'd be lost if this board ever shut down.

reply

Actually, it's the pubtards with Lib Derangement Syndrome who blah blah blah. They get paid to whine about everyone who finds Trump and his supporters to be Deplorable.

It's like they kneel at the Altar of Mammon, can't understand why others find them to be truly Deplorable, a true psychosis. They'd be lost without an Evil Leader telling them what to do and how to feel.

Shut this board down and watch the pubes cry about liberal media censorship.

reply

Absolutely agree with you. MovieChat should shut this board down. Tired of the political clutter.

I post here semi-regularly and I would actually be fine with it shutting down. Too much trolling and name calling. The moderators could probably sift through these boards and delete a quarter of the posts for rule violations if they really wanted to.

The one problem may be that if this were to shut down, a lot of these discussions may move to the General Discussion board which I imagine would make the regular posters there pretty unhappy.

reply

There's a politcial discussion forum that should be used for what it's intended for. Problem is Trump is also a show business figure with a profile. It would entail removing one celebrity profile which I think is linked to IMDB.
Lunatic trolls would stupidly argue that his removal is a free speech violation, despite the existence of a politcial discussion forum elsewhere on this site, and this site being privately owned and not beholden to a US constitution...
Thing is the administrator here hasn't been heard from in ages.
Perhaps if there was an effort by a large amount of users to petition this board's removal admin could be moved to take action. But unless things have changed, I can't see too many users giving a crap enough to start a petition.

reply

I would love to see that petition.

reply

I'm not sure why anyone is complaining about this forum being filled with political disussions, whwne this former reality star is now the President?

Let's be real:

Are there people who are really coming here to talk about his role on 'Celebrity Apprentice', or his cameo in "Home Alone 2", and the political discussions are preventing them from doing so?

reply

Those are the people who should be posting here. Whenever someone does their post is almost immediately lost as the political stuff feels up the board. So very few people actually see when someone does.

reply

"Whenever someone does their post is almost immediately lost as the political stuff feels up the board. "

I have yet to see any posting of 'Apprentice' or 'Home Alone 2'. I'd be curious to know what was posted, and would gladly join the conversation - please link me to those posts!

reply

Be my guest looking for them. The last nine pages only go back two weeks. Nothing but political fluff.

reply

Then that proves no one is as interested in his roles on "Apprentice" or "Home Alone 2" as they are in his White House role. The forum is fine the way it is; nothing has been buried since nothing has been posted.

reply

There are posts. They've just been pushed to the bottom because everyone has to rant about how vile or wonderful he is.
BTW: If you are curious, no I am not a Trump hater, just tired of seeing all the irrelevant Political clutter on a Movie discussion board.

reply

DoggieDaddy that proves nothing. You continue to start threads based on political news articles then bump your own posts to the top there by pushing down the actual topics. On average you seem to have started 1 /3 of the posts here.

reply

So if I'm understanding you correctly: I keep this forum active, plain and simple. It's one of the most active on the site - and that's a bad thing? Leave it to conservatives to see progress as a bad thing.

I don't "bump my own posts to the top"; they rise to the top by people responding to them. If you can show where I responded to my own post with *bump*, please point that out to me.

If people were indeed as interested in his 'acting career' as they are his 'presidential career' , logic dictates there would be much more people posting here about "Apprentice" and "Home Alone 2". But everyone can see that's not the case - his abysmal Presidency is far more interesting to discuss.

Still, the forum is open to everyone - anyone can start threads about his television / movie career if they wish, and start a discussion. Go for it!

reply

I agree not many care about his acting career. But those legitimate posts are getting drowned out though. I wan't even aware he was in home alone 2. I didn't know about trump till I took a trip to new york back in 2002 and no one in new york could shut up about him.

reply

"It's one of the most active on the site", and that is exactly the problem here. It doesn't help this forum grow when discussion about films and TV are eclipsed by arguments with brainwashed Trumpbots who are never going to change their mind. I've occasionally been guilty of this in the past, because there was nothing else to respond to, and I'll own that but enough already. Does this Orange prick have to ruin every last corner of the Internet?
Okay, so obviously there's nothing wrong with debate, I engage in it myself, but this orange mug hogging attention on a MOVIE site is just absurd. As I've mentioned before there's already a politcial discussion forum on this site.

reply

Well, IMDB did get rid of them for a reason :)

reply

Their stated reason. I'm seriously thinking of starting some sort of petition even though I highly doubt it will have much effect.

reply

"It's one of the most active on the site", and that is exactly the problem here.

That's certainly not a problem for MovieChat! Other sites can't pay enough for the kind of activity as we have here.

I sincerely doubt MC will 'delete this discussion board' - the most active on this site which attracts advertisers due to the traffic on this forum - because the discussion is about politics, on a 'celebrity' who wound up being President. If this is a vital money-making business for them and not a hobby, TPTB would never even consider it for more than five seconds, tops.

It's not about making a forum grow, but all about attracting advertisers - you do that with visitors to the site. And this seems to be one of the most popular forums attracting visitors.

But go for it - start a petition if it makes you and others happy.

reply

It's actually helps contain the problem if you ask me. Without this board, I can see a ton of "Another DemoKKKrat message movie by SJW Hollywood" flooding other movie boards" (I'm sure they are there already) by the angry and flailing.

reply

There already there. Some movie boards are completely infected with them.

reply

Hence why I said "I'm sure they are there already are".....
