This forum reminds me of IMDB

Years ago I was a member of the IMDB forum. The layout and nature of this forum pretty much is identical to this. Unfortunately this forum is no longer around. Anybody else here was a member of IMDB?

reply

Yes, the point of this site is to continue the IMDB forums. Like a phoenix it rose from the ashes of IMDB message boards.

reply

That's because it's an unofficial continuation of the old IMDb forums. They even archived all of the individual IMDb movie, TV show, cast, and crew message boards, which is why you can find threads/posts here that are far older than this website.

reply

Well I just came across one of my old comments, that I made using another username on the old IMDB forum. So now I know that this whole forum is really a continuation of Imdb.

reply

That was the entire purpose of this site. I still use my IMDB username.

reply

yeah I was on IMDb for a number of years. I like this forum because it has the film and TV show boards with discussions like IMDb used to have.

reply

Yes, they tried to silence us, but it was futile…like trying to silence the wind.

reply

Yeah! We showed them!

Signed, million man.

reply

lol

reply

Yeah, we remember the good old days of the IMDb forum.
I think I joined in early 2006 and was a regular after that.

reply

It's IMDb. Not to be pedantic but you don't capitalize the 'b'. There are sites which call themselves IMDB all caps. They are not the Internet Movie Database.

reply

Oh yeah, well I call it iMdB!

reply

Hahaha, my friend.

There are a couple of IMDb spinoff sites which call themselves "IMDB" all caps, to avoid trademark infringement from IMDb.

I remember the controversy about the use of "IMDb" as a name by spinoffs in 2017 after the message boards were closed. IMDb threatened litigation.

reply

There is not a thing pedantic about, y’know, precise communication. Half of the posters here can’t recite the alphabet without having to look at their phones. And punctuation? Capitalization? Grammar? Diction? A wolf pack is more literate than these pathetic losers.

But, hey! Boobies!

reply

[deleted]

Hey man, no dissing my wolf pack.

reply

Probably everyone here is a former IMDB member.

reply

No

reply

Yes

reply

Yes. Same user name with capital M's

reply

It IS IMDB minus actors or Hollywood staff posting on it. It's pretty much a carbon copy after it shutdown. Many migrated from there as well although others left as it got more and more deranged and toxic for some.

reply

Oh, I think a lot of people got left in the dust. I was mourning the loss for a good while until I looked around a bit and found this place.

As far as it getting deranged & toxic, wouldn't know about that. It seems pretty tame to me.

reply

MC is nowhere near the troll level IMDb was towards the end, & nowhere near the troll level that filmboards.com is (where all those trolls went & continue their shit posts & flame and wars)

reply

Shit, now i got to start posting there.
