What film have you watched were you just couldn't believe how bad it was. For me it's the Ghostbusters remake, just awful.

shareWhat's there to "get" about it? It doesn't have a plot that's even in the neighborhood of complex. If you're talking about it being an attempted homage to "grindhouse" movies, there's nothing to get there either, since it was blatantly obvious, being part of its marketing campaign and all, not to mention being part of a double-feature that was literally called "Grindhouse." Planet Terror was far better, though still not very good.
Movies are bad in different ways, and I found this bad because it was annoying, which is the worst kind of bad. For a long time it was the most annoying movie I'd ever seen by a large margin, but Disney's first Star Wars movie in 2015 came pretty close, enough so that I never want to see, and never have seen, another Disney Star Wars movie.
The annoyance comes from the motormouth chicks who never shut up, endlessly yammering on about utter inanities. I'm not much of a fan of Quentin Tarantino movies in general (the only ones I sort of like are Pulp Fiction and the first Kill Bill), but writing unusual/offbeat and entertaining dialog is usually his strong point. He went way overboard on Death Proof though, skipping the entertaining part and going straight to annoying.
Furthermore, I find destroying classic cars, especially second-generation Dodge Chargers, completely unacceptable. I give older movies / TV shows such as Bullitt and The Dukes of Hazzard a pass because the cars weren't classic yet at the time (I don't give the 2005 Dukes of Hazzard movie a pass though; that's too new).
I guess "get it" would be a bad choice of words. It's more like "love it or hate it." The first QT film I saw was Pulp Fiction in the theater when it came out and it was life changing for me. I instantly searched out Reservoir Dogs and stumbled upon Killing Zoe, which he had an influence on. Anyhow, I feel like Death Proof was his last film where we saw Tarantino putting a film on screen that was exactly what he wanted to show us. All the others after that seemed like they were made to please the masses with the adding of big stars. I do feel like he made a come back in a big way with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
I just love the entire vibe of the film. Released in 2007 we are treated to exactly what males who grew up in the VHS era were dyeing to see: A car / slasher movie shot on real film with real stunts and beautiful women. And to put the icing on the cake we get mother fucking Kurt Russell as Stunt Man Mike. Any motorhead should love it. I feel like I could watch the opening credits all day. It's layered with lot's of throwbacks to genre films and a kick ass soundtrack, with my favorite example being straight out of a poliziotteschi film. I know the majority of people dislike the dialogue but for me it's pure Tarantino and I wouldn't change a thing. I even think the ending is spectacular all the way through the end credits with the China dolls.
It defiantly helps if your a QT fan to begin with with. lol

The Ghostbusters remake was one of the few movies I rate 1/10. Probably the worst movie I've ever seen in a decade if not in my entire life.

I would never want to watch Ghostbusters remake ever again and I stand by my 1/10 rating. Still probably the worst movie I've ever watched.
Anyhow, it's interesting how people would consider budget, big name actors (and directors) and even the studio or the franchise affecting the standard of how the movie is percieved.
Like you said, no leeway... good and bad. At first, I think that's no fair. Bigger budget means access to many of the moviemaking techniques and production value that low budget productions couldn't even dream of.
On the other hand, as artists, they may not want to be "pitied" by the fact that their work of art is valued by the constraints they were getting. Like, yeah it's good... for a 20 mil budget. Which is similar to say that's a good painting, for a 10 years old. Feels like a "discounted" compliment.

Good low-budget films are relatively easier to rate because "it's good despite."
Like how you'd rate a child-prodigy piano player who can play just like 40 years old maestro. It's great, no problem.
Rating bad low-budget movie on the other hand, may be a little bit trickier. I mean, if a movie has a terrible flaw but that's just because they couldn't have the budget for it. How do you judge that?
What if a low-budget movie is overall good but has attocious CGI just because good CGI is expensive af. Do you give a leeway?
What if a low-budget movie is overall good, but the acting is sub-par because they couldn't hire the best actors available?
It's hard to overlook the budget limitation of a production when it's clear if given the appropriate funding the movie could be tremendously improved.
About the Ghostbusters remake, I seriously failed to find any other movie that's so unable to achive what it intended to... entertain me. Colorful CGI and big name actors, I can find those in plenty of other movies as well. But the one I expected for a Ghost-fucking-busters movie is to simply amuse me in 90 minutes. Idk, throw me some nostalgia? No Way Home style? Or anything, really.
They've failed absolutely terribly bad at that even when given the appropriate budget and access to some of the best comedic actors Hollywood has to offer (which affected on how I rate movies,) thus I give it 1/10. I don't really get what's your objection on what I consider the worst movie I've ever watched. You don't consider budgetary constraints in how you rate movies and rated it 4.5/10... fine by me.
