I hate when people say that pot is safe

Gateway drug. Kills motivation. Expensive habit. Can still cause lung cancer. Activates mental health problems for some. Genetically designed to be highly potent, therefore not "natural".

Sure, if you've got a disease and it helps alleviate pain, I'm all for that.

Recreational use? No way.

reply

have you told this to Kowalski yet

reply

😊

reply

NO...NO HE HAS NOT...SON OF A BITCH THAT HE IS.🙂

reply

as far as i'm concerned medicinal mary J is fine

but i agree recreational use has nasty long-term AND short-term effects

reply

I have no problem with medical use, either. As long as it is prescribed by a competent doctor and the user is given specific instructions and follows them. I've heard of unscrupulous physicians handing this stuff out like it was candy.

reply

Whatever, who cares. Let people live their lives and make their own choices.

reply

But the problem is people don't make the correct choices.

Yes, people have the right to make their own decisions. But with that right comes the responsibility to make the right decision.

reply

START A PETITION TO MAKE IT ILLEGAL...I WILL SIGN...AS LONG AS YOU INCLUDE ALCOHOL RIGHT ALONG SIDE POT.

reply

And tobacco. And coffee. And sugar. And MSG. All those things are nasty addictive!

reply

I AM OK WITH ALL THOSE...EXCEPT SUGAR...I LOVE MY CHERRY COKE.

reply

Disgusting.

reply

Whatever. Mind your own business.

reply

yes.
this is the right answer.
live your life. you're the expert on your own life, no one else's.
people are entitled to their preferences. leave them alone.

reply

Yes, people have the right to make their own decisions. But with that right comes the responsibility to make the right decision.

And that's their responsibility, too.

reply

"Do anything you want ... as long as it is what we think is best"

No. No it doesn't come with "the responsibility to make the right decision." Not only is the "right decision" subjective, it isn't anyone's business what decision others make.

I'm sure you have no vice.

reply

Exactly

reply

you are not the final authority on what anyone wants to do with their own life. that's their call, not yours.

reply

Meanwhile back in the real world...

reply

The "real world" is about men showering with Safeguard & Irish Spring, not creating bitchy, whiny threads about Neutrogena.

reply

Whatever you say Connie93.

reply

I'm as individualistic as they come, you sock puppet, conspiracy theory nutcase.

reply

Timing is everything.

reply

Agreed

reply

So are physicians prescribing smokable Marijuana that causes lung cancer?

reply

There was actually a very long and well conducted case-control study about lung cancer associated with cannabis use and contrary to their expectations, the study found no increase in lung cancer risk even among heavy users of marijuana.

Look into Dr Donald Tashkin if you're interested. He's a Pulmonolist, Professor of Medicine and has been studying this for well over 20 years.

reply

Thank you, and I will look him up.

reply

Weed is the devil's lettuce. It is worse than the cocaine and the heroin combined. Taking one toke will turn you into a crazed murderer. Anyone who supports the marijuana, supports Satan.

reply

University Tests have proven this !

reply

I smoked the weed once and I woke up on a grisly island of shattered bodies surrounded by a lake of blood

Never again!

reply

You see what the marijuana can do to people? And people think it's worse than the crack.

reply

YOU ARE THE WORST.

reply

Satan worshipper.

reply

Pot is safe

reply

My personal experience w/ pot, other than it being highly addictive (for me and, presumably, others but certainly not all, as to what percentage i couldn't say and wouldn't guess), was that it was a hypnotic and made one very inattentive to the surrounding world. Therefore, not to be used while driving or doing anything more strenuous than laying around vegging on the coach or laughing maniacally at obscure words and phrases.

I don't buy the current party line that pot is an unmitigated blessing for humanity. Far from it.

reply

It's not addictive and doesn't help, much less make, you sleep, nor does it make you laugh "maniacally" (at anything--why "obscure words and phrases?") You are only correct in that one should not drive while stoned.

reply

nor does it make you laugh "maniacally" at anything

You have obviously never seen a bunch of potheads watching Monty Python while high.

reply

Ah but I have, Hunchy--seen, heard, and spoke it. It was not "maniacal," though it was quite hearty, as any lover of MP from the early 70s can attest to. It was very "heady" humor, sophisticated (summarize Proust contest) and silly (ministry of silly walks), at any rate eons ahead of anything put out by American TV. Thus the idea that we were watching something new, innovative and totally unlike anything else on TV gave an added fillip to our enjoyment, and perhaps to our laughter.

reply

Thaisticks is the sort of fellow (?) who thinks his experience is the same as everyone else's. Pot is a drug. drugs have downsides. You can face up to that reality, or sugarcoat it, or pretend otherwise. Since everything I've said derives from my own experience or directly observed in others, I know damn well that what I say is 'correct'.

How many toddlers have gotten into mischief or worse while daddy is zoned out in the living room ?

How many kids have turned into potheads watching their pothead parents laying around stoned instead of living life ?

Yeah, I know what's 'correct' and what's not. I'm talking about pot addicts here - they aren't a rare breed.

reply

OMG, are you serious? You're spouting Reefer Madness memes like they're real!

reply

its clear from the name you have chosen for yourself here on the forum that you are heavily invested in the pot branding. How could you possibly consider yourself objective ?

reply

Ummm, I think either someone dosed you with a hard drug that wasn't pot or you are editorializing. I grew up in church and you sound exactly like every churchy person whom never tried pot but pretended they did in some sanctimonious cautionary bullshit tale. Weed is no more addictive than anything that feels good. It is NOT chemically addictive like nicotine or heroine.

Like most things, too much is too much. Responsible use is perfectly fine. It is not a hard drug. Alcohol is far more dangerous and just look at that vacant soapbox. If you are smoking too much pot then you are probably also eating too much, having too much sugar, too much TV, etc.

reply

Look up the word addiction. Addicts don't behave responsibly. People don't read - I'm talking about addicts. And mj is addictive to some people. I don't care if you don't believe it. Any mind-altering euphoria inducing substance can be addictive.

reply

Like television, sex, and collecting action figures? Addicts can be addicted to anything that produces pleasure. Or whatever.
