You can like the movies and still think that there was some missed opportunities, like not ever getting the old cast together for at least one scene.

Exactly. I absolutely LOVED Force Awakens, but it had missed opportunities.... Despite me not having any expectations about it (other than what was shown in trailers).

Same here. Before TFA, I didn't care for JJ. The only work of his I cared for was MI3.

Now, I call myself a JJ fan. It's just too bad he had to abuse Star Trek to make his Star Wars demo reel / audition.

300 million looks out of reach. People"s expectations were getting WAAAAY out of control.

I think all the hyperventilating about "pre-sales" created too high expectations. Will be interesting to see if it can match Infinity War's opening.

I agree.

On one hand I do love Mark and his openness and willing to speak his mind on social media.

However on the other hand he IS Luke Skywalker and could have wielded an enormous amount of power over these new films, especially TLJ. i.e. If he really didn't like that script and it's Jake Skywalker he could have flat out refused to have been involved.

Yeah sure he would have risked losing his big pay check, risked being sued by the powers that be at Disney but morally, if he really felt that strongly about it, he could have made a stand. And realistically there would have been a huge chance that Disney would have been forced to listen - after all what choice would they have had? The end of TFA pretty much guaranteed Luke Skywalker HAD to be involved in Episode VIII.

Hamill pretty much could have had them by the balls but no, he chose to chug down on the space sea cow milk, so I guess he should just keep doing that now.

All he can do is not to appear in the movies... well, or maybe he can't without being sued for breach of contract.

He could be even more critic... well, or maybe he can't without being sued again for breach of contract (that use to include the obligation to promote the movie).

I already said that - yeah, they could have threatened him but ultimately what could they have done if he flat out refused? TFA was the search for Luke Skywalker! How are they going to follow that up in Episode VIII without him being in it at all?

I think I even read somewhere that the reason he, and CF, signed on for the sequel trilogy is because they thought they would all be together again.

It's honestly fucking bullshit that he didn't even get 1 measly scene together.

I thought Lucas believed Disney would be an excellent company able to run the SW franchise given their creativity, size and family-oriented legacy. I'm not sure Lucas wanted his kids dealing with the toxic fans since they could've owned the company while other people ran it. He also built a museum for a billion.
