I made it to theaters last night to see the movie and I have some thoughts. Yes it was a Road Trip Movie focused on a free press but I saw subtle references to Trump. The President was in his Third Term and he abolished the FBI. Abolishing the FBI has been a talking point of the right mostly because they aren't a law enforcement agency anymore and are used mostly to hunt down American Citizens who are deemed political enemies of the Deep State. It may have made those references to Trump but it's Biden who would use the American Military to attack American Citizens. Seeing the atrocities of the Military in this movie made me think of what we are currently living under with the Biden Regime. By the time we go to the end with Western Forces attack on DC it really got me thinking this is ANTIFA's wet dream come to life and it was pretty sick to see. You may think you want war in America but I thought the movie did a good job examining the victims of such a conflict. Be careful what you wish for you Antifa Bedwetting Losers it wouldn't be pretty if your Larping played out in real life. Overall the movie dystopian future was horrific to see and this is one of those movies I will probably watch again but I would have to be in a really foul mood to sit through. If a 4k disc is released it would be demo worthy.

Trump already mentioned he wants the U.S. Military used against citizens and already did it during his term.

Furthermore, he is against freedom of the press which is similar to the movie's president who had banned journalists from DC and has them shot on sight.

Trump already attempted to remain in office after he lost when he incited the Jan. 6 violence.

Now, I'll admit that the movie president isn't really Trump according to the writer/director. But, he represents a Fascist president aka: authoritarian leader. Trump is similar to the movie president because he is an authoritarian, also. Authoritarians/ fascists/strongmen/dictators share similar characteristics and use the same playbook to attain and keep power. The outcome is usually tragic for citizens.

This book gives details about different authoritarian leaders including Trump. It's very informative and chilling. When you know history, you can recognize the warning signals and impending danger.

The problem is that the vast majority of Trump voters are ignorant of history. Guys like the President in this movie have existed throughout history.

Trump just happens to share a lot of characteristics with him.

Those of us that know history are genuinely concerned about Trump because we know what leaders like him do or want to do.

"I was just pretending to be a moron" vibes. And the dysfunctional electoral college won Trump the presidency at a deficit of 3 million votes with tiny margins in swing-states. He then lost the follow-up to Biden. So it's not as effective a 'winning tactic' as you portray.

Trump, like Biden, is too old for the job and has lost some of his cognitive ability. But he was ALWAYS a buffoon, going back to the Eighties. His agenda which includes loyalty tests to him for federal workers, U.S. military used against American citizens and forced births are clearly authoritarian. Plenty of Trump’s action during his 2016-20 reign were creeping authoritarianism. National institutions and U.S. values were undermined by him.

In order to recognize authoritarianism, you must be able to define it.
