#3 on imdb 😂

If it hadn't been for Ledger's death, it wouldn't be up there.

reply

absolutely right

reply

It was much more than that.

It was a major battle between Dark Knight Dorks and GodFather Dicks, each up-voting their own and down-voting the other.
Meanwhile the sneaky Shawshank Redemption sat and waited in the dark for the right time, then stealthily slipped into 1st place and was crowned the victor.

reply

Ledger's performance was legendary, death or no. The film itself however is highly overrated imo. Batman Begins was better.

reply

His performance is only 'legendary' cos he died. There's no way his performance would've been so hyped if he was still alive. In fact it would've been unfavourably compared to Jack Nicholson's Joker.

reply

We'll never know of course, but I think his performance was so beyond what anyone expected that it would have been every bit as lauded as it was. Whether the film would have achieved quite so iconic status I don't know, but I think Ledger's performance would have.

reply

Ledger will deservedly go down as the greatest Joker ever. Suck it up!

reply

Aw looks like I struck a nerve. Everyone with more than 2 brain cells knows that his performance was overhyped because of his death.

reply

Lmao, the lame "looks like I struck a nerve" shtick from the AOL days. Ledger's performance is correctly hailed as one of the greatest of modern cinema; you're the one ruffled by public and critical consensus, champ.

reply

Lol if it wasn't the case you wouldn't be getting so triggered using exclamation marks and italics. You're lying to yourself if you think his death had no affect on the gravitas of his performance.

reply

Bwahahaha, that's the best you have? "Using exclamation marks and italics"? 🤣 I guess every critic/essayist/novelist in history is somehow "triggered" then...

In reality, your passive-aggressive "Aw" is a genuine expression of frustration. Sorry bud, consensus opinion is on my side - not yours.

reply

Lol what a sad little individual you are relying on the 'consensus opinion' like a brainless conformist. The consensus has been influenced by his tragic death, we both know this but continue acting obtuse if it helps you sleep at night.

'Aw' is a genuine expression of frustration? You're clutching at straws now buddy. I wonder what your 'Bwahahaha' means you triggered Dark Knight dweeb lol. The lack of self awareness is astounding.

reply

And the insults come, as I knew they would. Pretty much seals this one. Cheers! 🍻

reply

Run along you little weasel.

reply

A beautiful example of an internet spat. If there was a textbook , I would add this argument to it. Good stuff.

reply

I liked that chap on Gotham best.

reply

Absolute nonsense, but thanks for playing.

reply

I agree.

reply

The whole batbike scene should have been left on the cutting room floor. It was so cheesy. Because of that scene alone, this movie doesn't earn more than 7/10.

reply

The Dark Knight is a great film but you couldn't get me to say it's #3 if you put a loaded gun to my head. Maybe more like 150-200 range. The only reason it's that high is because comic book nerds were so estatic to see a dark and gritty superhero film that it was pretty much the best thing they had ever seen. The hatred for Batman & Robin was so overblown and ridiculous that this film probably was the 3rd best film ever made in comparison.

reply

The Dark Knight is a very good comic book movie with a memorable antagonist but there is no way it should be number 3 on a list of greatest movies ever.

It was boosted by Legder's performance, which itself was in part boosted by his death, and was overhyped by comic book nerds who go giddy for this genre.

reply

Everything was just the perfect storm of overhype, especially Ledger's death which led it to becoming the most insanely overrated movie of all time.

reply

Back in the day on World of KJ Index when I posted there in 2007, I had posted the same thing, that if Heath Ledger had never committed suicide, this movie wouldn't have propelled as high as it did and I got blasted for it.. LOL

LMAO Nolans stellar Filmography says otherwise Universal has won the lottery stealing Nolan from Warner Bros who burned bridges during the release of Tenet
