Would Tarantino ever drop the N-Bomb like that...

-- today?

Not a black actor playing in a Tarantino movie mind you, but Tarantino himself. In one of his own movies. Like he did in PULP FICTION.

What do you think?

reply

the IMDB message boards are going away, Unless you can stop it.

reply

If these boards are going to consist of a bunch of people writing annoying non sequiturs like you just did, then I say good riddance to bad garbage.

reply

In today's cancel culture, I doubt it. It's weird to think that Jimmy was almost going to be played by Eric Stoltz.

reply

Perhaps back in 1994 people weren't as easily offended or even bothered by such movie material, but then, even with it being featured in the film, its not as if Tarantino was saying its alright I mean he plays a shady character, right?

reply

People made a big deal when Tropic Thunder threw out the retard all over the place. This scene def wouldn't work now, even with the character in mind.

reply

It would work fine, it would just irritate the woke mob and that would make it even better. I was thrilled with Tarantino’s portrayal of ‘those fucking hippies’ in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

reply

You're not really following this conversation properly.

reply

Speak for yourself, I’m following it just fine kiddo.

reply

lol

This scene def wouldn't work now

So...you even admit, it wouldn't work.
You jump into a conversation you didn't understand and you're not even paying attention to your own words lmao.

The other two guys are correct. In 1994, people wouldn't be as offended as easily. Nowadays they would. Thus, it wouldn't work...which again, you seem to agree in the second part of your sentence after you said it would.

lol I can't believe I had to break down this illiteracy.

reply

No I said it would work, read what is said before commenting and embarrassing yourself.

Projection.

No, thus it would work because irritating the woke mob is a good thing, just as The Life Of Brian worked better for having enraged church groups.

which again, you seem to agree in the second part of your sentence after you said it would.

I can forgive you for being too dumb to understand any of this, but I can’t forgive your obnoxiousness. If you’re going to be an idiot, don’t be smug prick along with it.

reply

Exactly. Characters in movies can and should be able to say anything. Plus, that line QT said in pulp fiction was good. It wasn't just for the sake of it. Your bring a dead body to my house, I assume I get carte blanche to say whatever I want.

reply

I think it has more to do with the fact that QT was an edgy 20-something-year-old and thought it would cool to say on camera. Today, I believe he's grown up a bit more than to just randomly drop a hard-R for no reason.

reply

[deleted]

I'd say no.

He was embarrassing enough back in the day in his attempts to appear edgy ("look at me and see what I can get away with"). In this present day that would fail admirably.

reply

Actually today it would be even better because political correctness has ramped up to a ludicrous degree. We need edgy content more then ever to trigger the woke moral police.

reply

After all this "sanitized for your protection" nonsense, of course the edgy will make a return and be welcomed with open arms. Dave Chappelle stays pretty edgy in his stand-ups but I'm sure he can't wait to go farther.

reply

You’d hope so but unfortunately the wokists have captured so many institutions and industries (including Hollywood) at the highest levels that any return to normality without censorship will only come about after a long, hard fight.

reply

I'll be on the front lines. I'm bored to death of this shit.

reply

I think its more the constant railing against percieved "wokists" by people who apparently have the opposite views , that are powering the PC/woke movement

All the ettention seeking threads along the lines of "You couldnt make this movie / say this thing these days" are *always* started by anti-wokists publicising the pretty much imagined "woke agenda"

Big companies see all this one sided debate on twitter and message boards etc and think "just to be safe we'll put warnings on are movie" , or cast a black guy

YOU guys made that happen by constanst bithching about "PC"
You really are shooting yourselves in the foot.

reply

It's funny. This topic brings up a good point. As many of you probably know this movie won best Screenplay at the Oscars after it came out. I frankly think that if a movie had a scene where a white guy says the N word in today's world it probably wouldn't win best screenplay. Unless it was something like a movie showing how bad slavery was in the 1800s and the guy who said it was a white slave owner who was meant to be shown as an unsympathetic jerk. Heck, maybe the guy who played said unsympathetic slave owner would get nominated for an Oscar.

reply

Wow wow wowowow

reply

Yes, because it wasn’t Quintin Tarantino saying it, it was his character, a character that we are not supposed to agree with what he does.

reply

It's so funny how people today don't know the difference between what's real and what's not.

reply

We call them libtards.

reply

I know. I wish there were a way to ignore them.

reply

thats why todays modern movies suck. they dont portray reality. in real life white people say the n world a lot, most especially when the real n words aren't around, that is when we really let lose with it and call each other it for good fun. if ur gonna tell someone they cant do something it just makes em want to do it more. anyways it is racist that white people cant say that word in the first place without suffering hate crimes in retaliation. ur telling me i cant use a word that is popular in mainstream music culture just cause my skin is too light of a pigment?!? that is textbook racism right there
