Most shocking celebrity deaths?

I would say Michael Jackson. It came out of nowhere especially with his sold-out tour. Oh, and Aaliyah with the plane crash back in 2001 (a mere few weeks before 9/11). Also, John Ritter back in 2003.

Too painful maybe.

We generally don't think of Presidents as celebrities. (Though I guess this is changing.)

I wouldn't include Lincoln, for example

Chadwick Boseman. It was one of the few times that a celebrity death caught me off guard & genuinely shocked me. He kept his illness a secret for like 4 years. He still put in the work & was doing his thing all that time

I remember I wasn't online all day long. I was at a barber shop. Took out my phone as I was waiting for my turn & his death was literally the first thing in my newsfeed. I genuinely thought it was a joke or a mistake.

Took me a minute to actually accept that he was actually gone.

reply

Yes, his death was certainly a shock, and although I'm not into the Marvel universe, I knew who he was. A real shame.

reply

That was a lousy one, the guy had a big career in the hopper

reply

Fo real though. I know that he was already like in his mid 40s & was in some good films & gave great performances but it honestly felt like he was just getting started. You know what I mean?

reply

Absolutely

He was not on my radar prior to the Marvel stuff

reply

This one for me, as well. Legitimately thought it was an Internet joke that would debunked shortly.

Recently,
Christopher Plummer (I know he was in his 90s, but I loved the guy and thought he'd be around forever)
Sean Connery (another I thought would live forever)
Tanya Roberts (my favourite Angel - that one was a real shock)

Others,
Ingrid Pitt (sexiest actress ever, and my favourite Hammer scream-queen)
Lewis Collins (my teenage years TV hero - and part inspiration for my joining H M Armed Forces)
Roger Moore (still can't get my head around that one)
