So why did Disney listen to the fans this time instead of attacking the fans?

Ghostbusters, Rings of Power, Star Wars and many many other IPs.

Writers, directors, actors that hated the source material, and hated the fans.

The fans speak out about it and followed is campaign attacking the fans, painting them as racists and sexists.

Why this time do they listen? Is it because the other IPs have a larger male following, and it's easier to deflect, point the finger back and demonise men opposed to women.

Disney were taken aback this time. Hopefully companies will listen on other IPs now.

Looks like the op was a little early, but they just posted images of Rachel Zegler with cgi dwarves on Twitter, and reports are coming out that they are in fact extensively reshooting the film. Supposedly it’s been pushed back to 2025.

Disney hasn’t listened to any fans for years. At least, not the intelligent ones who want accuracy in its live action depictions.

What is your post based on? I did a search and there’s nothing out there about Disney changing direction on this except clickbait “articles” from bottom feeder sites asking if the film has been delayed or abandoned.

It may be delayed due to the strike, but sadly it hasn’t been abandoned or changed directions.

There hasn't been a full on campaign against the fans, which is par for the course when fans point out their mistakes.

They tried to put the wheels in motion for a "racist backlash" to drum up some publicity, but Rachel Zegglers big mouth couldn't help itself, and it wasn't pursued into a full fake controversy campaign, and they let her hold the hot potato after saying dumb things and insulting the original. Hates the source material, and holds it in contempt. No different to any of the other cases for other IPS, Rings of Power, Star Wars, Ghostbusters etc.

This time they let her take the fall instead of doubling down attacking the fans.

And Bob Igor suddenly wants to go quiet on political messages. The bottom line is more important than the message now apparently.

This could be the first step, as they're realising the bottom line is at stake.

Potential Billion $ movies are passing them by and they are losing money.

Or maybe they let her take the fall because she pulled the trigger too early on the "racist backlash", and it should have used closer to the release date to drum up publicity.

It did seem to come a little bit early, maybe she released the "racist backlash" story to the press without Disney knowing about it, so they didn't back her up with a full campaign to attack the fans.

We'll see closer to the release date if the old "racist backlash" marketing campaign is dredged up again.

Disney doesn't seem particularly interested in maximizing revenue any more. You would think the shareholders wouldn't be too happy about that. Almost like they have some other sort of agenda that's more important to them. Why not stick with what used to work?

Only that it was written by a feminazi who believes that if any woman is the slightest bit malicious it's all due to a man (despite that Maleficent never once becomes evil in this god-forsaken piece of shit film). All the male characters are either evil just because or stupid and subservient to women. No. Listening to fans would entail canceling this film and all other future live-action remakes.
