Is anyone surprised Disney ruined Star Wars?

The moment it was announced Disney owned Star Wars, was there any doubt they'd mess it up? None of the garbage they've produced should be surprising. It's Disney. They care about money and nothing else.

reply

what the fuck are you talking about?

Disney didn't ruined Star Wars. they made it better.

reply

Hahahahahaha! That's a good one!

reply

i'm being serious you Dumbo!!!

they didn't ruined Star Wars.

reply

Yeah they did.

George Puke-us turned the ambergris of Akira Kurosawa’s “A Hidden Fortress” and made perfume of a Sci-Fi franchise.

Disney transformed the perfume back into whale puke.

Quite a feat considering how bad of a director Lucas is, don’tcha think?

🖤👹🖤

reply

no they didn't.

reply

Yes, they did.

Wait for it...

reply

Actually, they did, Ghostrider38. I hate the Sequel Trilogy as it stands, I hate Solo, and the only decent movie they produced was Rogue One, and, oh look, it's a PREQUEL.

reply

no, they didn't.

reply

Yes, they DID. The Sequel Trilogy SUCKS! Or are you one of those moronic apologists for TLJ?

reply

Ummmmm...they definitely did.

reply

Do you believe name-calling wins arguments?

reply

Except that they did. They have so massively fucked up Star Wars that people no longer care about Star Wars. How is that even possible?

reply

I thought Disney was going to make it better. The prequels were awful and a change was definitely needed if Star Wars was ever going to be good again. I thought with Disney’s money and JJ Abrams directing there was a lot of potential. I’m surprised that things have turned out the way they have.

reply

It’s not so much the directing(superior to Lucas on his best day) as it is the horrible script.

Any director not named George Lucas can take this ugly ass cast and sell it with a great story.

This story just sucks.

Plain and simple.

To be honest I was pleased when they bought Lucasfilm as we would get new movies which I was over the moon about, then came TFA which I liked , yes it was a safe movie but still it was good to see the old gang back together , then Rogue One which I thought was a really solid movie, a bit slow in parts , but then came TLJ and that's when everything started to change, I fucking detest that movie with a passion , then Solo , came , meh , and now im meh with TROS.

The only decent looking thing on the horizon is The Mandalorian , anything after that I couldn't give a fuck about , especially if that hack Rian Johnson is involved.

Have Disney messed up ? no, but they have been hit and miss of late and I do believe its time for star wars to wrap up and be left alone.

reply

This.

I liked TFA and still have hope for TROS, a film which could actually be the best of this trilogy seeing as the bar has been set so low.

A KOTOR trilogy would be great but it needs more planning and thought put into it than the cobbled mess that is this trilogy.

reply

I liked The Force Awakens when it first came out...it was one of those films that I started disliking more after I had seen it and I started to reflect on some things that I didn't think worked and the way the he did things.

The Last Jedi was just a crime. It was horrible and an offense to be called a Star Wars film and it make me hate The Force Awakens. Then to top it all off the fact they thought I'd have any interest at all in a Han Solo back story and that I'd go see a film re-casting Han....insanity.

Rogue One is the only one that is ok.

reply

Yeh I'm with you, TLJ left such a rotten taste I'm my mouth I have no urge to go back and watch TFA even though I did before TLJ was released , I'm only really looking forward to the madalorian, TROS, take it or leave it.

reply

Meh...at this point it’s just fan fiction. Star Wars without George Lucas isn’t really Star Wars.

reply

Agreed

reply

When was the "old Gang" together? Oh right, they weren't. Epic Fail. Star Wars is dead.

reply

Chewie, han solo , leia , c3po , and luke all had screentime , not sure how thats an elic fail you douch bag

reply

Han, Luke, and Leia...the human main cast, 0 scenes. Epic Fail.

Disney's Soy Wars is below fanfic.

I wasn't expecting it. Let's say I'm kind of shocked at how badly they ruined it. How totally inept they were at coming up with some good stories going forward.....they had so much material, the directors they got were horrible and Kennedy being in charge of this....kind of setting the "vision", one of the worst decisions ever.

I know there are some Star Wars fanatics out there that will go to anything but as far as I'm concerned Disney destroyed Star Wars. I didn't know they were going to handle the old stories so horribly. It isn't that they made up a bunch of new stuff....100 years after Jedi....they kind of went back to Jedi and the state of the galaxy then and took George Lucas's characters and the way the universe was in his creation and peed all over that.

No, I never would have predicted them doing this horrible of a job. I'll never see another Star Wars movie ever. They should have just retired this thing in 1983.

I was in the toy store with my kid the other day and I noticed the ever decreasing size of the star wars shelf with 40% to 80% off. Same toys piled on top of each other on a shelf 3 columns thick. My thought was on how Star Wars my entire life always took up an entire half of an aisle. I thought, how could Disney have screwed this series up so bad? Was it intentional? They did not want to compete with it so they bought it just to tank it banking on the fact as long as they broke even on the investment it would be a success? Was this the objective?

Or was it that they really wanted to churn out this product with modern political undertones first playing it safe on a empty nostalgic joy ride and then counter that with purposeful undermining of audience expectation with an franchise leader that cared more about their own personal agenda than making sure a good product was released? And then Disney just will not accept the failure so they double down more and more and refuse to admit the blow back and remove the female head of the franchise? I do get the impression that the only reason Kathleen Kennedy still has a job is because she is female and Disney does not want to face the political blow back of firing a feminist executive. They figured they already at least broke even on the dollar amount investment and might as well let the flaming dumpster fire burn itself out. If Star Wars dies because of Kathleen Kennedy, as long as they made a profit on the brand, eliminated one of the biggest IP competitors and suffered no political blow back then it was a worthwhile effort.

At least that is sort of how I am thinking this all went down.

reply

My local Disney Store had literaly 2 Star Wars toys, the motorised BB-8 and R2-D2. In comparison Marvel MCU Toys took up an entire aisle.

Tells you everything you need to know about the state of Star Wars.

reply

I know right, just thinking about how the Star Wars merchandise piled on the shelves my entire life compared to what it looks like now is really tragic. Star Wars is a dead IP and it is not coming back.

reply

Well a lot of people today were literally raised on Disney. They haven't stood on the outside and watch it grow like a blob monster absorbing everything in sight and pressing it into its business mold. Watched it control the minds of the youth and reshape the future in its image.

reply

Disney USE to be great back in the day. And not just movies, Disney as a Whole.
