They released the trailer online a few minutes ago.

I gotta say that it looks awesome. Even Rob Patz looks good.

Great, vampire emo batman, just what we needed.

reply

Not a fan of Pattinson's hair, but maybe he cuts it in the movie.

reply

That new batsuit looks ridiculous. It kinda looks like a tv show, too. Not a fan of Pattinson. They can basically pick any actor they want. Why not pick someone that can look and play the part. He can't do either.

reply

I think David Boreanaz would be a decent Bat.

reply

Yeah, he would have been a good choice.

reply

In his younger days, perhaps, but unless they're making Miller's Dark Knight Returns, he's too old and pudgy. The kid they've got seems to nail it, at least in the trailer.

reply

The director said he was obsessed with not screwing it up. He really didn't want to disappoint fans.

reply

You mean fans want someone like Pattinson? I just lost respect for Batman fans.

reply

Have you watched any film he's done in the last decade not named Twilight? He's a ridiculously talented actor.

reply

Yes and I don't see any talent. But others do. Good for them. I'm not a fan and never will be. There are too many other great films I want to watch with quality actors. No reason to waste time on him.

reply

Michael B Jordan

reply

It's Batman Year Two era, hence Wayne is younger than the previous incarnations on film. You will also notice that his boots in the beginning of the trailer look store bought. This is Batman in an embryonic form.

And I completely disagree that he does not look the part, he looks absolutely fine to me.

reply

Agreed, Pattinson fits perfectly

reply

It all looks awful. I'm sure it will make a lot money but I can't think of a worse actor to play the part.

reply

Love the colors of this movie. It's not overly orange and teal.

reply

I liked the Nolan films, but this one actually feels like Gotham City which I didn't get with Nolan's films.

reply

Actually Batman Begins looked like a fictional city that could be gothem. Most of it was on a sound stage. It had some of the same colors that actionkaman was talking about. Then they got lazy when they made Dark Knight and just filmed everything in Chicago. And then they made Dark Knight Rises in Pittsburgh.

reply

I’m completely the opposite of you. I prefer real city filming over sound stage. It looks obviously fake and all elements of realism is gone.

Also, the cinematography looks horrible.

reply

Realism isn't important in this kind of movie

reply

I disagree. This shouldn’t feel like Beetlejuice.

reply

I know what you mean. Batman is a very dark, moody, sometimes scary comic. Nolan's tone was a bit too lighthearted for the character, and it will be nice to see a grittier, darker aesthetic for the character for once.

reply

This is Gotham after all. Nolan's Dark Knight just seemed like New York and got even a dark version of New York.

reply

No, I totally agree. I was joking a bit about Nolan being lighthearted, but this has a much more comic-book-Gotham edge to it that I like.

reply

I was agreeing with you. I like Nolan's films, blbut they just didn't feel dark, which is how Batman should be.

reply

They were dark in comparison to the Keaton/Kilmer/Clooney films, but not in the way that Frank Miller painted the character and his world. The Superman/Justice League films were utter failures, though Affleck was as good as anyone before him as Wayne/Batman. I have high hopes for this coming film.

reply

The only colours I saw in this trailer were orange and teal...

reply

Yeah but not OVERLY orange and teal like most other action movie nowadays, e.g., TENET, Bad Boys For Life, etc.

reply

Awesome trailer!

reply

It looks really good, and much better than I expected. The Batman costume looks about as good as any to date, and Pattinson is far, far better, in appearance anyway, as Bruce Wayne than I imagined he'd be. This could still end up being crap, but nothing about that trailer has me even slightly worried.

reply

I agree that it looks much better than expected. I guess I really didn't know WHAT to expect, but I wasn't especially optimistic. As I was just saying in my post below, this is at least something fresh and different and it looks like it's been skillfully executed.

Pattinson has been working his ass off to distance himself from the Twilight era of his career and it seems to me that he's been successful. I was skeptical of his casting for this role, but he now looks like an interesting choice.

reply

From the early set images that were released, I was afraid this was going to feel like a scaled down Batman film, but I was still optimistic. Now I'm even more optimistic.

reply

It is at least a fresh take on the Batman legend and I think we need that.

We've seen goofy, campy Batman with Adam West. We got Burton Batman with Keaton. We got sober, realistic Batman with Bale. And now we're getting young, dark Batman with Pattinson.

I'm not sure I'm going to love it. I tend to want my superhero movies to have at least SOME levity and this doesn't look like it will have much at all. But it looks well-done and it's different, so I'll definitely check it out.

reply

It looks darker than any of the other films released. The director said Batman is not fully Batman in the movie. He has more room to grow. He said Catwoman isn't Catwoman either. They're setting this up for sequels.

reply

Having a fresh take isn't enough to make a good movie. I can take a shit in a box and sell it to you. I can guarantee that its fresh, But you might not like it.

reply

I think the concept looks skill-fully executed. Now, whether or not I end up feeling like this is a good direction for the Batman character to go remains to be seen. But when I watch the trailer, I get the sense that it's a director who knows what he's doing.

reply

The trailer felt kind of cringy at the end. Not going to see any more Batman

reply

The trailer is fine and interesting. As always though, the reviews will do the heavy work in convincing me whether to see the movie or not.

reply

I usually wait for reviews too. I don't have time to watch every mediocre movie I thought looked interesting.

reply

Some characters demand that you go and watch regardless of the reviews. I think that Batman is one of those characters.

Maybe that would change if a string of mediocre Batman movies were released, but so far that hasn't been the case.
