used to be good - then it became a legit corporation
From what I gather, CD project red is on the same path - they even released a DEI hiring video very recently - and you know where that goes :)
When I saw Bethesda in the opening credits I thought fuck here we go, and yes, I didn't have to wait long for the woke shite to appear! I got as far as the part where the confused man, or was it a woman! helped the black guy up off his arse after he took a beating from others in the military camp, and I just sighed.
Fuck is there no end to this fucking woke crap?!!!!!
Suffice to say, I pressed the stop button because that was my lot with that shite.
What are you talking about she wasn't a main character? That's stupid. Of course she was, just as much of a main character as the butch 'chick' was in this show. Jesus, she was in like one episode.
Warrior, Dark, Chernobyl, The Expanse, For All Mankind, Foundation, The Last of Us, Reacher, The Bear, Succession, Severance, Better Call Saul, Mare of Easttown, Andor, One Piece, Dahmer: Monster, Beef, Silo, Good Omens, The Terminal List, Black Bird, What We Do in the Shadows, Maid, Unorthodox, Raised by Wolves, Yellowjackets, Dopesick, The Gentleman, Slow Horses, The Diplomat, Shogun, The Great, Devs, Tokyo Voice, Babylon Berlin, Gangs of London, The Gilded Age, Masters of the Air, Bad Sisters, Evil
Still listing The Last of Us, dude? And last time you dumped your list on me, you included Watchmen too, both of which make me question your awareness of the situation.
But you’ve got some good ones in there, so at least your taste isn’t totally shot.
Yes, TLOU is a highly rated TV show. Also I haven't watched all of those shows. It's not a list of my personal favourites. But they are all highly rated TV shows.
How many of those have you watched?
>But you’ve got some good ones in there, so at least your taste isn’t totally shot.
I’ve seen quite a few of the shows you name-dumped, as for those I didn’t watch, they simply don’t appeal to me. Even if they’re not woke, I currently have no desire to watch them.
Not everything is made for me, and that’s fine.
But the shows and movies that do appeal to me, which consists of various genres, have gone woke, and that’s why me, and many others, are calling Hollywood out before it spreads any further than it already has.
>I’ve seen quite a few of the shows you name-dumped, as for those I didn’t watch, they simply don’t appeal to me. Even if they’re not woke, I currently have no desire to watch them.
What ones have you seen?
Sure. But I don't watch lots of shows either because the synopsis does not appeal to me. But pretending that they suck, and that all modern media sucks because of my preferences isn't smart.
>But the shows and movies that do appeal to me, which consists of various genres, have gone woke, and that’s why me, and many others, are calling Hollywood out before it spreads any further than it already has.
And what "shows and movies" specifically, in terms of style, appeals to you?
Sci-fi, fantasy, action, horror, romance, comedy. Like I said, various genres. A lot of western shows have been infected. It’s good that there’s a sizable selection that’s not, and while I wish them all the best, as I said before, not all of them appeal to me.
Sci-Fi: Silo, Foundation, The Expanse, For All Mankind, The Last of Us, Severance, Andor, Raised by Wolves, 3 Body Problem, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Devs, Twisted Metal, Years and Years, Constellation, The Lazarus Project
You speak of fantasy and sci-fi (focusing on them) as if there was some magical period of time before 'woke' where they were mostly all good. Fantasy shows, especially high fantasy have always mostly been outrageous failures and full of nonsense. For every Farscape and Battlestar Galactica, there was nonsense like Cleopatra 2525 and Andromeda.
>My condolences if you sat through Cleopatra and Andromeda.
I didn't. But that there was plenty of trash in those days.
>Back then we had Doctor Who, TNG and Deep Space 9, X-Files, and Stargate, among other shows.
And we have had, in the last 10 years: The Expanse, Dark, Severance, Altered Carbon (S01 was great, and arguably stand-alone), Andor, Foundation, For All Mankind, The Orville, 12 Monkeys, 3 Body Problem (shaping up to a positive response), Silo
Or by "sci-fi" are you specifically referring to space shows?
misandrist
/mɪˈsandrɪst/
noun
a person who dislikes, despises, or is strongly prejudiced against men.
"the counterpart to a misogynist is a misandrist"
So I'm guessing that you think this show is the height of, um, misandrist is nous , because there is a female in a role that could have been played by a male?
(the horror!)
Two out of the three main characters are men. One of which is Walter Goggins, who's so naturally charismatic that even when he's playing an unapologetic racist, he still my favorite character.
Star Wars and Indiana Jones are the two most prominent examples of misandry.
No one has a problem with female leads, we grew up with them after all. There’s a right way and a wrong way to do it, the former being Buffy Summers and Xena (among others), and the latter being Rey Palpatine and Captain Marvel.
Nope, the show looks like shit. In the recent trailer, people have brand new glasses, and everything is clean looking, the scene where the BOS in power armour was being dragged around by a Yao guai was enough for me.
76.7% of the reviews for episode one (at this time) are 10/10. Perfect. 10/10 would make it one of the best TV shows of all time. If you don't think there's something suspect about 76% of the reviews being 10/10 then there is something wrong with you.
OP here. so surprisingly I watched the entire thing. I don't think this would've worked with a male lead. You had two or three somewhat dimwits male in that show. Her raider future husband, all looks no brains (potential lead for a male dweller); her brother, brain but.. well you know; and her brother's bestie, the tall dummy.
In either case, the last scene with the ghoul and Goosy made me realize this needed to be a woman otherwise this would've had a different tone. Well, the closest to it would probably be Luke Skywalker.
I AM NOT A GAMER...I HAVE NEVER PLAYED FALLOUT...BUT I AM VERY AWARE OF THE FRANCHISE...I AM CURRENTLY A COUPLE EPISODES IN AND I THINK IT'S PRETTY DAMN GOOD.
Seems something is going on when you have this constant raceswapping of white characters going on, including characters where it makes absolutely no sense for them not to be white. Historical characters. And then there's things like Harrison Ford ending his run as Indiana Jones getting talked down to and finally punched out by skinny little Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
A message being sent. Certain views being pushed a lot.
But skin color sure does mean something if it's a non white character, no? Suddenly there's no "blind casting". You know they were only look at black actors when they were casting "the Woman King". Race mattered then, you know.
The same people making the points you are would be howling about racism if they race swapped even a minor non white character in a part where the race didn't matter much. So people feel like it's gaslighting.
Gaslighting. In recent years I've only heard of one person of color getting raceswapped to a white actor, and he was the man who raped the writer the Lovely Bones. So a rapist.
The movie got cancelled, though. It turns out Alice Sebold accused the wrong man and the hair matching methods they used during the trial were pseudoscience.
OOOH...NICE AND SHINY BUZZWORD...PERHAPS I WILL BE DISTRACTED FROM THE FACT THAT SKIN COLOR IS JUST SKIN COLOR AND EVERYTHING THAT MAKES PEOPLE WHO THEY ARE IS MUCH DEEPER....OH WAIT....IT DIDN'T WORK....SORRY.
Oh fuck off, KOWALSKI. Gaslighting is the right word for it. LOL.
Like I've said twice before, it's NEVER done with a non white character, even a minor one. And you keep doubling down on that claim that race doesn't matter (but we all know it does when they are casting), and acting like I'm the one saying something crazy.
More gaslighting. Yawn. The same people who say that when they race swap a well established white character would lose their minds if it ever goes the other way. Well, unless it's a rapist or some other villain.
We're going in circles now, so I think I'm done with this thread.
I HAVE NO POLITICAL ANYTHING....THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS AT ALL....PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE...SKIN IS JUST SKIN....ANYTHING MORE IS INVENTED BOOGEYMAN FOR LESSER CREATURES TO RALLY AGAINST.
I had to look that up, and it turns out that the books are science fiction and he had eight parents who shared in his DNA makeup. Kind of disingenuous to claim that he had Nigerion ethnicity, like he was fully black, and leave out the rest.
According to the Expanse Wiki, he did not have a dark complexion in the book either. Mixed race people who have a little more ambiguous situation when it comes to their appearance are pretty clearly not what I'm talking about here, anyway.
>I had to look that up, and it turns out that the books are science fiction and he had eight parents who shared in his DNA makeup. Kind of disingenuous to claim that he had Nigerion ethnicity, like he was fully black, and leave out the rest.
Ade was the name of his girlfriend. I don't mean James Holden.
She was of Nigerian descent in the books. Flipped to White American in the show.
Ok, so I found Ade Tukombo and it looks like she dies fairly early on. I imagine that played a part in changing her race to white. Someone in the comments at the Wiki pointed out it's lose lose. Either a black character dies early or they race swap a black character. I can see their point.
Her entry on the wiki is pretty small. She die early?
At any rate, you are talking about a very rare counterexample. Her being a minor character would explain why there wasn't a bigger controversy about it.
For god sake, KOWALSKI, of course if you go back ten years or more things were different. If you go back far enough, you can find Charelton Heston playing a Mexican and John Wayne playing Ghengis Khan. There's no goalpoast being moved. It's pretty clear I was talking about NOW.
OK, I really am done with you when it comes to this topic. Good night.
EXACTLY...GO BACK AND YOU FIND NO ROLES FOR ANYONE BUT WHITES....WHICH IS WHY WE SEE THE OCCASIONAL WHITE CHARACTER CAST WITH A NON WHITE ACTER...AND NOT THE OTHER WASY AROUND....GOOD JOB...TOOK YOU AWHILE.
NOW...WANNA SMOKE A BOWL WITH ME?...WE ARE WATCHING VAMPIRE'S KISS AT MOVIE CLUB....CRAZY SHIT!
