Any chance of this being good?

Stallone is enjoying a revival at this time.

reply

I just can't see how it could be any good. The whole franchise became a joke over the years, and now you've got the main character at 72 years of age... Sorry but at some point a man stops being capable of being an action hero no matter how many growth hormones you inject yourself with.

reply

Did you see Rambo 4, it was badass. All the Expendables movies have been great. Stallone is one of the last people making good old fashion action movies.

reply

Nope, you're wrong: he's just making old fashioned action movies.

They are no good by any means, unless you considered good crap like iron eagle, american ninja or invasion usa.

reply

Rambo 4 is my favorite one.

reply

hey i loved those films! in '86 when i was 15. Probly wouldnt be so enthusiastic aged 47 in 2019

reply

That's because you are probably fat and out of shape....I'm in awesome shape and older than you and looking forward to this. ..lose some weight fatty....maybe you will feel motivated again....

reply

sadly not , despite drinking too much beer every day , and not exercising , i'm pretty slim.
I put it down to the laziness and smoking diet.

reply

Lol...I like your honesty. Kudos. But having a diet of beer is not good. Being thin is fine though. I'm pushing 50 and happily I look 20 years younger and have a flat stomach and work out almost every day. It will be interesting to see how long I can keep it up. Have rarely drank alcohol in my life and don't smoke or eat sugar.

reply

You got a problem with Iron Eagle? F ckin loved that movie as a kid.

reply

ahaahha! No problems whatsoever, it's a bona fide classic!
Listening to your walkman while flying jets? Pure awesomeness!

? you can be an action hero until you die. You just don't hit as hard or run as fast but that does not mean your determination has to be any less. And the experience might come in handy..

reply

When your main star is 72, the show makes as much sense as going to the local nursing home to find heroes... what are they going to do chase the bad guy in a wheel chair, or tire out the bad guy by letting them beat them until their arms get tired. Reflexes go down over time so the reality is a fighter that is in their 70's isn't going to effective against someone less than half their age. All the experience in the world will only go so far when your body just can't move as fast or hit as hard as it once did... then of course there are the other problems your 70 year old action hero is going to have, like crippling arthritis that keeps them from being able to hold a gun, cataracts that keep them from aiming said gun, and dementia that causes them to forget who they were even aiming the gun at to begin with. The whole concept of a 72 year old action hero is just wrong, if they wanted make more Rambo movies then for the love of god just reboot the franchise and get a more appropriate actor.

reply

ever heard of Cohen the Barbarian?

reply

I do not agree. A person's whole life could be about fighting. That includes old age. I have no interest in watching coming of age or teenage dystopian movies forever. If you want to see a young Rambo I suggest you watch First Blood again.

reply

It doesn't matter if your whole life is dedicated to fighting the reality is age slow down your reflexes and that lowers your fighting ability. I love a good action movie, but Rambo went from action movie to cartoon several movies back... at this point they have just taken a step into ridiculous with a geriatric Rambo. A movie like Clint Eastwood's Grand Torino show the reality of what a geriatric action star really is capable of - dying.

reply

I recommend you watch Bubba Hotep before you knock wheelchair riding action heroes!

reply

But this is Sylvester Stallone, not old some old fogie in a wheel chair at a nursing home. Stallone is far from the average 70 year old. The guy is still buff and in tremendous shape for his age. He's past his prime for sure, but he still delivers.

reply

You know i haven't watched Rambo 4. But never heard anyone say anything bad about that movie. First Blood was fucking excellent. So if you think that was bad. You can go fuck off and Rambo 2 was more cartoonish. But still dealt with how Vietnam Vets were treated by the US government. Rambo 3 is enjoyable. Even if its been badly dated by the subject matter. I think Rambo Franchise hasn't been drag through the mud as much as lets say the Alien Franchise has or even Star Wars for that matter. I mean out of 10 movies. Only 3 are really great.

reply

I enjoyed Rambo when he first appeared in First Blood but in every sequel it became worse and worse by 3 it was ridiculous and like a damned cartoon. And yes the Alien Franchise was a disaster as was Star Wars because in both of those they stopped caring about the story and seemed to be simply focused on trying to milk it for every last cent. With Rambo if they care about the story then just reboot it and get a different actor, Stallone is just too far beyond the best by date to be Rambo anymore.

reply

It’s true that Stallone is 72, but he is Rambo. It would spark outrage if someone else (someone younger) took the role.

reply

No. No chance. Dont be silly.

reply

Heres a radical suggestion. Why don't.... Now hear me out. Why don't we wait until they movie comes out. Actually watch it and then judge the film on its own merits. You Know, Like a normal person. Im mean for fuck sakes the trailer has even come out yet.

reply

you know what , thats not a bad idea.

It should be better than 78-year-old Harrison Ford playing Indiana Jones!

reply

I think it will be a slightly above average action flick. I expect lots of people dying with some, hopefully, great old school real stunts and explosions. This might have more drama than a normal Rambo film since he is supposedly trying to make amends with his family and move on with his life. I'm not sure if I will see it in the theater, but I will rent it with 100% certainty.

reply

nope. i'm expecting a mixture of try-hard action and cornball dialog. just like the last bunch of Stallone movies.

reply

After the last trailer, I think this will be a good movie. Closer to Rambo 4 than the Expendables. That is to say, I think it's gonna be a pretty good low budget action revenge thriller. I don't think it's gonna feel much like a Rambo film at all. But twenty years from now, I think we'll all be grateful it got made.
