Doesn't matter. Chauvin was an asshole supreme. He kept kneeling on Floyd even though Floyd was handcuffed and completely submissive, and did so for almost 10 minutes. Why? I don't know if the kneeling on his back/neck contributed to or even caused his death outright, but it sure didn't help in either case. He also had an unreasonable amount of complaints against him. Eff him.
Floyd was resisting arrest, and he was heavily intoxicated with Fentanyl

All that matters is Chauvin is white and Floyd black. It's strange how black on white murders are never given much coverage. And they are much more frequent. If a white student had murdered his black female teacher in the bathroom, then sodomized her, and then dumped her body in the trash, there would be a national outrage. But a black kid does that to a white woman and it gets very little coverage. There are way too many examples.

We don't really know if Chauvin killed Floyd, but let's say for the argument that he didn't. Chauvin's crime was being a totally unprofessional asshole in a time where cops are being unfairly targeted as being totally unprofessional assholes. In other words, he gave the race-baiters exactly what they needed, and boy did they make hay with it.

In December 2021, Chauvin pled guilty to federal charges of violating Floyd's civil rights by using unreasonable force and ignoring Floyd's serious medical needs. For the federal charges, Chauvin will likely be released from prison in the year 2038.
Are "they" going to say that his guilty plea will not count? Thinking that Chauvin will be released anything soon is just crazy share
