Lol. I just don't think what this guy did was that bad. And he has five felonies for this? Big deal. It was a publicity stunt. Actors do it all the time, just not as flamboyantly as our boy Jussie did.

I think he's really being punished for being black and gay.

reply

The problem is that he hurt future valid claims from being believed. He used a legit issue with legit victims to raise his profile, and in doing so, betrayed them all. As for the punishment, that's born of his backroom deal with SA Kim Foxx. She let him slide with a slap on the wrist ("alternative prosecution") while still allowing him to shout about his innocence, and she advised he and his family later as to how to proceed, before recusing herself for the same. Ugly all the way around.

reply

Corrupt all the way around.

What Jussie did was extremely reckless. Just like Susan Smith blaming the "kidnapping"/murder of her kids on "two black men'. Jussie could have gotten some people actually hurt in retribution for this staged attack.

reply

ust like Susan Smith blaming the "kidnapping"/murder of her kids on "two black men'.

I find it more disturbing that this woman killed her own kids, and people focused on the racial aspect of the story.

reply

Sure, that IS obviously the most disturbing thing. But then the reckless story she put out there could have resulted in other victims as well.

reply

Oh I'm not defending what he did. He's a joke.

And yeah, I can't see how he can now claim he never lied.

reply

My point being: It was that bad. That's why everyone except his closest friends and family bailed after the picture became clearer.

reply

You don’t fake a crime for publicity. His claims were dangerous as they could’ve lead to riots, or retaliation against republicans.

If it was just a publicity stunt, come and admit it. Plead guilty and throw yourself at the mercy of the court. He hasn’t done that, because he’s dying to be a victim, and he shows no remorse, so they are going to throw the book at you.

If him being gay and black mattered to anyone, he wouldn’t have had to fake a hate crime.

reply

Man, this is a compelling take. Nice job on this post.

reply

I just don't think what this guy did was that bad.

But it was bad on several levels.

First, it foments racial discord. We're living at the greatest time in American history when it comes to racial issues, but there's a growing victim mentality being spun to drive a wedge in America's heart.

Second, he didn't just target white people people as the evil scum who attacked him, he specifically attacked "MAGA" supporters in an effort to swing people and change votes. This makes it far more than a publicity stunt for his own gain (stupid as that sounds), it clearly shows a razor sharp agenda.

Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time. I don’t think 5 months in county jail is excessive. To protect himself he was really ugly to his co-conspirators in attempting to destroy them for the scheme he masterminded

reply

Well of course what he did wasn't bad when he basically blamed MAGA & Trump for his actions and as a result of it, he looked up and had the ACME Anvil drop on his face and he's getting what he deserved..

reply

Oh no, he`s black! Racist move.

reply

Uhuh. This is the perfect opportunity for every angry straight white male to get back at every black and every gay who ever was a victim of racism or homophobia. It's all fake! There are no hate crimes!

reply

That’s correct, hate crimes of this nature are a false narrative. The media loved to push the “Trump is emboldened racists” narrative. So if it was happening, you would’ve heard about it every single time.

Two white guys with maga hats in Chicago are more likely to be victims of a hate crime than the perpetrators.

reply

The only actual bigotry in this whole affair was the terrible things Smollett did to, and said about, the powerless Osundairo brothers to protect himself after using them in orchestrating the hoax

reply

Are the Osundairo brothers not as guilty as Smollett? Why have they not been charged?

reply

No they are not as guilty. They were arrested for the assault which, at the time, police believed was real. Smollett, who never expected them to be caught, then turned on them and acted like they were criminals who really assaulted him and deserved to be punished. After sitting two days in jail, the brothers told the police they couldn’t be guilty of an assault because it was fabricated hoax. They admitted their role. They apologized. Smollett has instead publicly destroyed them, outed them as gay and then blasted them as lying homophobes, sued them in civil court, attempted to ignite a social firestorm about race, politics, and sexuality, and pursued a scorched earth litigation strategy that continues to this day. All in an attempt to protect and improve his wealth and power. He deserves his comeuppance.

reply

I'm not sure they actually did anything worth charging for unless I'm missing something. They didn't actually attack Smollett and they didn't file a false racial charge like he did. Anything they did was at Smollett's direction, and it was Smollett who actually perpetrate the ruse. I guess maybe complicity if it could be proven that they knew what Smollett was doing and not just playing a web prank (which would be a good defense).

reply

Most hate crimes that get national exposure turn out to be fake.

reply

See: https://fakehatecrimes.org/ for details. The supply of racism in North America seems unable to keep up with its bizarre demand.

reply

lol, I share this link a lot too. Most people have no idea how often this happens.

reply

With so many people pushing the notion that the U.S. is such a hotbed of racism, I usually enquire how many other cultures they have experienced beyond a surface/tourist level, or at least if they have really gotten to know many people raised in other cultures. The answer is usually few to none. I posit that the U.S. is very likely the *least* racist country on the planet. Yes, including Canada. Look up "pure laine" aka "pure wool."

reply

Stop trying to convince PedotheBarbarian with facts

reply

Chances he will be found dead before going back?

reply

I doubt it.

reply

Lets hope so.

reply

Good!

reply

Should be a minimum of 10 years.

reply

He wasted the court's time who could have spent it instead on meting out injustice to others and wasted tax payer dollars that the govt would have much preferred to squander elsewhere.

reply

Good. He kept lying saying that it really happened and set back gay people by claiming it was a hate crime.

reply

HE IS NOT SUICIDAL!!

reply

Maybe. We'll just have to be satisfied with what we got here.
