Ruined the Thor franchise with Ragnarok, IMO. Not a fan.

reply

Yep, Ragnarok was a stupid cringe comedy and this jackass Watiti is to blame.

reply

At last. Someone who agrees that ragnarok was crap. Thanks TJ

reply

Ruined the franchise by making the best film in the entire franchise; a fun, well-directed COMEDY, which is exactly what the Marvel movies SHOULD be!

I don’t even know who this Tiki Wakanda guy is but your comment reeks of incel.

reply

Agreed.

Disagree. What We Do in the Shadows was fantastic and Thor: Ragnarok was great too. He doesn't seem like a douchebag at all.

reply

Then you must be a douchebag, too.

reply

How do you figure that? Please tell me what make me a douchebag.

reply

Allaby is most certainly NOT a douchebag nor any other unkind word you may sling at him...he probably knows more about movies then both of us combined and he's always a gent
I like you King, but you should slow down here

reply

What We Do in the Shadows is an amazing movie, and he has become a douchebag. Both things are compatible.

I don't think he's inherently a bad person. But modern left has become some kind of pseudo-religious cult. Some people are more vulnerable to religious thought, and the result is those people (who aren't really bad) end up behaving like jerks because their faith justifies it.

Do you think that Muslims that go in a religious killing spree (and that happens almost every day) do that because they wake up saying 'oh, I'm bad, I'm so bad!!'? They do because they have a system of beliefs that justifies the use violence to spread their faith. They do because they believe they're doing the right thing.

Something similar happens with Waititi: he surely thinks that he's doing the right thing when he behaves like a jerk. I'm deadly serious.

There's people who are born jerks. And there's people who are strongly religious, and they try to do their best... but they just happen to follow a toxic religion, like most of Islam, or some ultra orthodox branches of Christianity, or Judaism or Confucianism, or the radical modern Left. In the case of Waititi, if it weren't for this modern Left pseudo-religion that has invaded Western World, I'm sure he would be quite a nice dude.

reply

How has he become a douchebag? I have never heard of him doing anything wrong and his movies are mostly solid. The only thing I don't agree with is getting Natalie Portman back in the Thor series after hearing the way she behaved and treated the team on Thor: The Dark World.

reply

How did Natalie Portman treat the team on Thor: The Dark World? I haven't heard, I can't really picture her being too awful to anyone.

reply

She heavily campaigned to get Patty Jenkins as the director, but when Jenkins left due to creative differences, Portman became angry with Marvel and threatened to pull out of the film. She eventually stayed but refused to do any publicity for the film and gave the bare minimum in terms of performance. She also refused to return for reshoots. When Thor kisses Jane at the end of the film it is actually Chris Hemsworth's real wife Elsa Pataky, wearing a wig and shot at an angle where we cannot see her face. So I was not surprised that they ditched her character in the third movie. But, to be fair Thor: The Dark World is by far the worst movie that has any of the Avengers in it.

reply

Thanks for sharing the info! I Love the Thor films, but mostly for Loki because the Character is fun, I never really liked Jane. I thought Natalie Portman did a fine job I just didn't feel much of a connection with Thor -Jane. I thought that Ragnorok was great and didn't miss Jane at all, I was glad that they didn't have to shoehorn her in like they usually do with the romantic elements of Marvel movies.

reply

Love him! Love "Thor: Ragnarok" and both versions of "What We Do In The Shadows"! Love his absurd sense of humor! I even like him as an actor and a voice actor!

And if he pisses off the assholes of the world, I like him even more.

reply

Did you enjoy Hunt for the Wilderpeople?

reply

Haven't seen it. Should I?

reply

He directed it, and wrote the screenplay. I really like it. It's starting Sam Neill and Julian Dennison (kid in deadpool 2)

reply

That does sound promising, I like Waititi a lot, and the kid was excellent in the Deadpool movie.

reply

His second film Boy is great too.

reply

Yes.

reply

I love Taika. He's talented, funny and by all reports a decent guy who treats his colleagues with respect.

I don't think he goes on the internet slamming other artists with bitchy one-line character assassinations either, which is nice of him.

reply

I sense Someone is Racist to Polynesian People Im happy he directed the best Episode of The Mandalorian and im happy he has first Go at Star Wars Post-Skywalker Also Indie Filmmaker Like The Maker George Lucas and Rian Johnson

reply

Hey snowflake, you're trying to use false accusations of racism to shield Waititi from criticism. That won't work on me. I didn't even know he was Polynesian, nor do I care. His movies are godawful.

reply

you are racist eff you

reply

Shut up, you child! The true racists are clowns like you bringing up race in every discussion.

reply

when i saw the free guy trailer a year or two ago, during the time his hitler comedy was released, i thought to myself someday people are going to turn on this guy.

reply

I like Hunt for the Wilderpeople and what we do in the shadows. Never watched his thor flicks. I don't care enough to get to know the guy personally, but he's not talentless.
