Her career is over! No way she can excuse molesting a minor

So, Asia argento who open the gate for the me too movement and who made a passionate speech about how all predator will be punished at Cannes had sex with a 17 year old she worked with when he was just 7 year old and then she offered him hush money. That is as bad as Kevin Spacey allegation. At least it shows the hypocrisy of some women in that movement as they respond completely differently than when the accused is a man. Rose Mg gowan is like wait for more info, be gentle, she do not even mention the victim's name (Jimmy Bennet) but when the accused is a man she is thirsty for blood, calling names etc.. I think this needed to happen so that the me too movement becomes something truly meaningful that includes victims no matter what is between their legs. I feel terrible for Jimmy Bennet and I believe him 100% . Here is a 17 y old kid who was meeting a woman who knew him since he was seven , he probably saw her as a role model, I do not think he imagined she would serve him alcohol and then have sex with him. Yeah he let it happen but it does not mean he wanted it or enjoyed , he probably happened so suddenly and the fact that the woman who was doing it to him was a mother figure made things messy in his head. But I can only imagined the aftermath, especially if that was his first time. There is no waiting for more info in that situation, she was the adult, 20 years older than him, she was the one in power. Nothing can make this OK. Yes she was still a victim of rape but she is also a pedophile who molested a teen and if she was a teacher and he was a student t a school she would be locked up right away with no question asked. Really disturbing !! She deserves all the backlash coming her way ! That she was a victim herself does not excuse messing with kids head this way. People really need to be behind Jimmy Bennet on this and encourage all boys who were molested by people of power in Hollywood to come out with their story.

reply

He was legal in some states. But the hush money makes her look guilty of sexual assault which isn't good.

reply

Plus he wasn't 7 years old.

But yeah, not a good message for Hollywood to be sending out

#MeThree.

reply

I meant he worked for her as an actor when he was 7 then she had sex with him 10 years after. That is super disturbing on its own..The truth will eventually come out. I sure hope they will let Jimmy Bennet defend himself because she will make him look like the villain to protect herself, I guarantee that.

reply

Point, blank and the period. Well said, Oliver!

reply

I feel terrible for Jimmy Bennet

Would you people get real. He was 17 for Gods sake. I started having sex at 15. If I was 17 and never had sex I would LOVE to have this lady be my first!

reply

Yes, he was 17. And she was a 37 year old grown woman who knew better. Did you have sex with grown women when you were 15? If so shame on them because they knew better too.

reply

She met him at 7.....7 dude.

reply

Exactly! Having sex at 15 is not the norm and if you have sex at 15 it is usually with someone your own age not someone that could have easily given birth to you! This "Boys will be boys" and "He was a strapping teen age boy, he probably LOVED it" attitude is toxic! If I think back of myself at 17 and if an adult figure in my life that called me a son, that knew me as a child had sex with me it would have mess me up big time! This should not be seen as a normal !

reply

Why do men like the deceased pay hush-money for no reason? I hate that more. He cannot prove that he was "molested", can he?

reply

You do not pay hush money if their is no basis for it. If there was never any sex and he was just a punk harassing her , she would have ask for a court order and case closed. That is what make this all thing suspicious ! You do not give money to a man who accuse you of rape when it never happened in the first place. The fact Bourdain paid that much money to him is not normal. And there is also that selfie, why would Asia do not want that picture to come out if she never had sex with him and it was just an innocent picture? There is a lot of wtf? things going on in that case. The truth will come out eventually. If Asia is innocent that would be great , I want this not to be true but so many messed up things going on there that are hard to ignore and unfortunately Bourdain is no longer there to give any clarification either.

Wow you called her a pedophile?

You have ZERO clue what that word even means. If this was a public statement you could be pegged with slander or libel.

reply

With all respect Frogarama, she was 20 years older than him. He had just turned 17! 17 years old are not adults, not everybody are fully grown mentally or physically at 17, most 17 year old boy do not even shave. It takes a sick individual to want to have sex with a minor that could be their son/daughter. If the allegation are true: She knew him aged 7, she called him "my son" you see her cuddling with him as a kid,she played his freaking mum! than 10 years later when he just turned 17 she had sex with him. What woman goes " I'm going to meet that sweet little boy I worked with and have sex with him now that he just turned 17?!" Also look at the selfie they posted of that day, he looks like the bloody paper boy standing next to her.So yeah I know what Pedophilia is! If it was a 17 year old girl and 40 year old man the rapist, people would not be afraid to call this for what it is! Absolutely insane there are people who seem dead set on normalizing this!

reply

Pedophilia is being sexually attracted to prepubescent children, rather than just someone who is under the legal age.

reply

I know that. My point is she knew him at age 7, she had that little boy still in her head. The fact that she had sex with a kid she directed and knew well as a little boy gives hints that she groomed him from a very young age and that shows hints of pedophilia. Also I know 17 year old that still look like kids, in that picture he did not look like a grown man so again he might have just turn 17 but the fact he looked young plus the fact she worked closely with him as a little boy and called him "her son" does show some worrying behavior that can be seen as signs pedophilia in Miss Argento part...If the allegation are true of course. If it was a case where she would have met him for the 1st time at seventeen (it still would have been creepy AF for sure) perhaps I wouldn't have hinted as much toward pedophilia but the all situation put together makes me think she could have an attraction for kids...It's my opinion.

reply

My point is she knew him at age 7, she had that little boy still in her head.

That's your interpretation of how she should feel and perceive others. Based on her behavior and relationships, her mind works a little differently than that.

I understand that, too. I don't ever see people as they were, only as they are.

reply

Dunno Spanners, I can't fault you on that but I can also say that it's possible that underlying feelings of dominance came into play.

It's a Damascus sword if ever there was one.

reply

I keep thinking of Richard and Monica from Friends!

reply

That's a great example Dazed!

Was there ever an underlying attraction from a grown man to his friend's daughter?

Particularly when you look at his not wanting to have kids and wanting to live his younger 'married free' life with Monica (Not to mention her personal insecurities about weight and popularity).

I know it is fiction but the reason it resonated with many was due to how real that situation was for enough for it not to be uncommon.

I can't even fancy a friend's sister who is younger by a year because I feel I've got to be the potential big brother to them. It's only weird to them (And we're all well into adult years now) but power is power and knowing not to abuse it is part of the equation to being a decent person (In my outlook).

reply

I once went out with a guy 3 years younger than me when I was early 20's and it just felt wrong! I'm not against age gap relationships by any means I must stress that, just not for me.
I remember an acquaintance once asking if I fancied any of my daughters male friends once they had grown up. My answer was absolutely not because I'd known them since they were kids, I think I learnt a little bit about my friend that day!
I do think this Asia thing is storm in a teacup. It is of course statutory rape but unless she drugged him with Viagra and Rohypnol then straddled him before she woke him up for a selfie, I think he willingly put his willy in there. In a different geographical location I doubt anyone would be outraged, the young man in question may not have got a golden handshake either. Women are sometimes attracted to younger men, the crux of it is whether she did him any harm. That's something we can't know.

reply

I've told you that when I was 20 I had a relationship with a 54 year old. We both knew what we were getting into and it only got weird when there was talk of marriage and the like (She had two kids older than me by at least a decade).

I was a happy bunny up until the marriage nonsense - I doubt this kid had any harm done to him other than the weird mother/son inferences made during private messages which I'm sure will be dealt with as any many would and be yesterday's news in no time at all.

The issue, I think, comes from a 4 year relationship with Harvey Weinstein in which she says she was abused.

That may or may not have happened but the four years and then subsequent story of her doing something similar makes it all a little bit weird.

reply

My question is why has it suddenly resurfaced? If I was cynical I'd say that a young man could easily burn his way through $380 k in four years, he's hungry for money or fame and knew it would be news.

I know you're not suggesting that a person who is IN a relationship cannot be abused by his/her partner. I can tell you that they can be, if you doubted it.

I don't see it as being the same thing.

reply

I'm not sure on the case and I think we'll have to see how it pans out.

I don't think any 'genuine' victims will get the light of day though.

reply

Yes definitely, wait and see. I don't think she has as much to lose career wise as Spacey for example, to me she was just Argento's daughter!

Incidentally rewatching ST Discovery and I noticed how similar Anthony Rapp's acting method is to Spacey's. Now that's weird.

reply

It's a Damascus sword if ever there was one.

What does a blade made of reputedly very good steel have to do with anything? Lol, you sure you don't mean the Sword of Damocles?

reply

I stand corrected (And sober at this point).

Cheers!

reply

People that are attracted to post-pubescent children under the legal age are called ephebophiles...

Or "Anthony Weiner."

..Joe

reply

Strange to give it a name since its pretty normal to be sexually attracted to people who have reached puberty, including teenagers.

reply

haha, amen! - nature doesnt care about manmade legal ages xD

reply

This case is a good example.

They could have done the same exact thing just in a different state or country and it would not have been considered unlawful (or underage or "ephebophilia")

reply

Including - say - a 13 year-old girl that developed a little early by a 40 year-old man?

That's normal?

..Joe

reply

There are social reasons (other than just laws) why its not a good idea to act on those urges. But yes being attracted to a developed teenage girl is normal. You have the shape and the hormones, all signals that the heterosexual male responds to.

reply

The fact that she met him playing his mother in a movie about a boy being sexually molested by her boyfriends makes me wonder if she wanted to abuse him back then! Did the script turn her on? Then she liked him?

The fact that she was calling him her son in the tweets makes it sicker.

17 is legal in my country but still, a very sick story.

reply

I don't have an opinion on this as yet because it's just his word against hers. I'm also not an expert on females as the assailant in a rape situation, I'm not even sure how that works.
Technically it is statutory rape because he was under the age of consent I believe.
She isn't a paedophile by definition. He was not pre-pubescent.
Money exchanged hands and there is no doubt about that, that is admitted.
One of the the things that people were saying about the women who accepted money off Weinstein was that they ought to have gone to the police and therefore saved other women.
Another question that was asked of the women was why did they wait for several years.

I would also say that not naming the alleged victim may be to respect his privacy. Rape victims are usually afforded anonymity aren't they?

There is alleged to be a selfie of them in bed together.

There are several possible scenarios that I can think of here:
One would be that Harvey Weinstein has pulled strings.
Two, maybe they had consensual sex, in that he agreed and willingly had sex but later realised it was illegal and decided to blackmail her.
Three they had sex that left him so traumatised that Argento's friend decided to pay him to keep him quiet.

Nobody comes out of it looking good but it's important to remember it is just an allegation. You shouldn't automatically believe this.

reply

lol what career.

reply

I almost came here to say this. Her history's so fucked up...

reply

She always has a career in adult industry. She could specialize in stepmom videos.

reply

I still say all you people that think he will be traumatized for life get real. You take 100 horny 17 year old guys and ask them if they would like to have sex with the lady below and I bet 95 of them would jump at the chance.

reply

Faith Connors from Mirror's Edge?

All 100 would jump at the chance!

reply

Still wouldn't make it right. What part of that do you not understand?

reply

Still wouldn't make it right. What part of that do you not understand?

He was 17. What part of that do you not understand?

If he was 11 or 12 you would have a point. Millions of guys 17 and even younger have sex. She was just older. He probably had a great time.

reply

But it was still illegal. If it was a 37 yearold man that had sex with a 17 yearold girl, you be thinking the same thing?

reply

You have a point but I still say most 17 year old guys would love to have sex with her when she was 37.

reply

That's not the point. There's plenty of 17 yearold girls that would jump on Johnny Depp now. Should he get to enjoy them?

reply

And why not? Same as with guys there are millions of girls 17 who are having sex. If they choose someone older more power to them.

reply

Are you fucked in the head?

reply

What the hell is wrong if a 17 year old girl likes someone older than herself?

reply

All signs point to “yes” in giant neon lights. Smh.
