what type of moderation is there on this board?

will they ban you for being controversial? like some of the other board will.

reply

No.. This is the only website I've ever encountered that has MODS that are seldom seen, but would rather be heard and they don't believe in this shadow banning bullshit like many other movie websites do and trust me, I'm notorious for this at sites like "World of KJ Index" or "Box Office Theory" that have MODS that just dissect anything and everything you post and if you so much as even hint at supporting President Trump?? You're done.. No kidding.. To be banned at a site like this?? You'd have to probably murder someone

reply

ok that sounds good. Thanks for your response.

reply

WARNINGS AND BANS ARE MORE COMMON THAN YOU THINK...THEY JUST DON'T MAKE A HUGE PUBLIC DEAL OUT OF IT.

reply

¿Qué onda Buffalo Bill, estuviste en el último día de Taringa, cierto? No tenía idea de qué tenías cuenta allí y hablabas español, ¿cuanto tiempo estuviste en la página?

reply

Depends on how controversial you are. As long as it isn't violent or hateful, you should be okay.

reply

My question is, the posters who post something with their username "Deleted", have they been banned and somehow, find a way back in or what??

reply

Deleted usually means the person deleted their own account. I don't know how they could post if their account was deleted, either by themselves or by a mod.

reply

Is a bug. If you delete, but don't logout, you can keep posting as deleted, until you finally logoff

reply

Yes this. I haven't tried it myself, but the way I heard it is if you are logged in on multiple devices (desktop/mobile) and delete your account on one, you can still post on the other as deleted as long as you don't log out.

reply

The problem with that is many on the left are now claiming merely disagreeing with someone is hateful.

reply

So you are whining in advance. Uh, ok...

reply

Is he wrong?

Or maybe his statement is "hateful"....

:D

reply

On this site, disagreement is fine, as long as you aren't threatening or harassing or promoting violence. Lots of posters have posted controversial comments and didn't get in trouble.

reply

Also, keep politics in the politics board.

reply

This^^^

reply

I know! They are so stupid and childish, they think "words are violence." I would think getting hit in the face or beaten on counts more so as "violence" than someone saying something mean and hurtful to you.

And this coming from someone that got hit on the head with a locker lock at age 12 and still has the scar to prove it, while enduring years of peers being mean and nasty to her.

reply

Just don't be a punk.

reply

I like this. It made me smile.

reply

I know you don't own that mug.

reply

No, but I'd like to.

reply

There is a specific board for Politics:
https://moviechat.org/bd0000082/Politics

As the header says: -
General Discussion
Talk about anything here...except politics.

reply

what part of this is political?

reply

It’s not. I was just trying to be helpful.

reply

And yet

which does have a political slant and it might be best to take that to politics board.

reply

A few years ago MovieChat had a reputation for kneejerk bans and deletions. All that did was stifle growth. Thankfully the offending Mods are long gone.

Mod4 and Mod5 both do a good job of allowing free speech yet putting the kibosh on offensive content.

reply

A FEW YEARS AGO THEY ALMOST FLUSHED THEIR MVP...LUCKY FOR THEM KOWALSKI™️ DOES NOT QUIT.

reply

Yeah, I'm surprised you survived the early days.

reply

I've been here since 2 weeks after site started (probably). I have posted shit sometimes just to gauge their response.
I've seen maybe 20 mod posts.
They read everything, but extremely rarely reply. They're like the Loch Ness Monster. Or alien pods that pop on the radar of a US destroyer.
You cannot see them, but they're up to something.

Boo!

reply

I beg to differ. Mods can't read everything. They will, however, review posts that are reported and keep a general eye on things. My experience is that the mods do their best to moderate with a light hand. I appreciate that Mod5 chimes in to answer questions or assist in addressing glitches that sometimes happen.

reply

They. Read. Everything.
Booo

reply

GlenEllyn has it right–we do not read everything. Not even close.

reply

It's definitely not Reddit, Facebook, Twatter, or Instagram, that's for sure. They'll ban you at the drop of a hat if you even hint at not being hard-left. Here, nobody seems to care, which is great :D

reply

are you on the left?

reply

No. According to them, I'm an evil, insane monster that worships a false orange god and wants to kill everyone and burn cities down.

The irony is so lost on them that I laugh at their stupidity frequently.

reply

So are you banned from all of reddit, Facebook, Twitter (you know your idol wants you to call it X now, don't you) and Instagram?

reply

Just look at the scum who are allowed to post their hate here on a daily basis. If you wish to join the scum, you'll probably think the moderation is great.

reply

can you show me an example of hate?

reply

Literally every actress's page is full of at least one "..she's disgusting, an ugly abomination, and probably hates all men.." type thread, just for starters.

reply

are they disgusting and ugly though?

reply

Compared with what? You?

reply

Are you calling me ugly and disgusting? wouldnt that make you "scum" according to your own logic?

reply

Perhaps.

How do would you feel if I opened up several threads imploring everyone to despise you because I think (or claimed to think) you were an ugly, disgusting, terrible evil person and I accused anyone who likes or just tolerates you of being toxic, evil and equally ugly and disgusting?

reply

That would be amusing. Why dont you give it a shot.

reply

Are you saying you don't know how you would feel about there being lots of threads from people you haven't met expressing hatred for you?

Weird.

reply

Here's a better question. Why would I care what anyone on this board thinks of me?

Convince me that I should care.

reply

Isn't caring about whether your posts are accepted here or not just the same thing? You are concerned about being popular with the right people.

Considering how uncomfortable my replies are making you, it would appear that moderation is the least of your potential worries.

reply

"You are concerned about being popular with the right people."

Definitely an Achilles heel for some posters here.

reply

I hate you all for ever
