Pets are so awesome and funny

My cute baby girl has no qualms about telling me when to shut up. I might get carried away with the cute talk or sometimes will make noises to get her attention. She will run right up to me, climb up furniture etc, and hit me in the mouth or cheek with her paw. Same thing with dark rooms, she hates it when you call out to her too many times.

reply

Love β€˜em.

reply

Hopefully you talk about your cat and not your Rottweiler. ☺

reply

I don't have one of my own, here are a couple I follow on YouTube

listening to my neighbors dog bark for the last hour i'd say their overrated

reply

[deleted]

Pet owners are so delusional. The dog is barking. The dog is the problem.

reply

[deleted]

Absolutely πŸ’―!

reply

That is exactly the response I was expecting and it just illustrates my point πŸ’―% !

reply

Pets, especially dogs, are overrated. They defecate, urinate, drool and shed. They're dirty and they stink.

I'm not talking about service animals or search-and-rescue dogs. These provide an essential service and can save lives.

reply

Are you saying that the service animals and rescue dogs do not defecate, urinate, drool and shed. They also are not dirty and stink?

reply

They all do it. But service animals are usually better trained not to leave their calling cards in places they are not supposed to. I only give them a pass because they are doing something beneficial.

reply

Yes but many of these service animals have their owner’s telephone number tattooed inside their ears.

reply

People defecate, urinate, drool and shed too.

reply

People defecate, urinate, drool and shed too.

reply

Usually not on the floor or furniture.

reply

I guess you've not heard about Chinese tourists.

reply

This is one of the reasons why people shouldn't be allowed to have pets.

reply

what is???

reply

Anthropomorphism

reply

I agree and have mentioned this a few times in the past. Pets are animals, not human beings. They operate by instinct, not reason. Anthropomorphizing an animal has led to people getting mauled or killed by pit bulls and the like. After these incidents, the owners are completely baffled and attempt lame explanations like, "I don't know what happened... my dog was the sweetest thing you would ever meet... it would never bite anyone..." How many times have we heard this stuff?

Here are some misconceptions that need to be cleared up:
β€’ A pet is your property, it's an animal, not your "baby" or "member of the family."
β€’ You do not "adopt" a pet, you purchase it. Adoption applies to children only.
β€’ Your pet does not "love" you; love is a complex human emotion. A pet's reaction to its owner is due to pack behavior and survival instinct. The owner is the supplier of food, water and shelter... nothing else.

People need to realize that what is depicted in cartoons, sitcoms and Disney movies has nothing to do with reality.

reply

Though it's true that animals aren't humans and vice versa:
You miss the salt of life if you only regard animals as soulless creatures, solely able to "operate by instinct".
Alas, typical human self-reflection of alleged superiority.

reply

Sorry, but animals are soulless creatures, the next step up from plant life. That doesn't mean they should be abused or destroyed; they belong in the wild, not in my house.

reply

Animals have a soul.
Neither you'll be able to convince me that animals are soulless.
Nor I'll be able to convince you they have a soul.

Sorry, get off your high horse and don't declare as facts for everyone what you only assume as your facts.

reply

If you wish to believe in New Age stuff, that's fine.

This is one of these "agree to disagree" situations.

reply

Nothing to do with New Age stuff.
It has much more to do with the already mentioned Salt of Life.
And how we (humans) watch ourselves.
We aren't opponents of Nature, we're a part of Nature.
As animals, generally all beings, are a part of Nature.
That's the reason to care for all beings (humans included).
Yep, every now and then we need to eat (not only humans). ☺

Yes, that makes some decisions easier.
Oh...that was last year in an article:

Versailles' gamekeeper Charles-Georges Leroy (1723-1789) knew better than the philosopher Rousseau.
Leroy wrote:
"I say, monsieur, that the animals are like us; and I believe that in order to think otherwise, one must completely close one's eyes and one's heart."

No, thank you. It should be obvious that I'm not a "pet person."

reply

What do you like? Seems like you hate everything.

reply

I don't "hate everything."

I like movies, which is why I frequent a site called "MovieChat." I like watching football and hockey; I like the fall time and the holiday season; I like reading, music, comics and animation, science fiction... need I go on?

reply

No need to go on. Just try not to be so uptight.

reply

"Uptight"? Just because I don't want some dirty animal in my house means I'm "uptight" and "hate everything"?

reply

NO...ITS THE UPTIGHT AND HATEFUL WAY YOU COMMUNICATE IN GENERAL.

reply

This coming from the guy who calls names, and uses obscenities, crude language and subject matter in his posts.

reply

BUT...I AM REALLY NICE...A BIG VULGAR TEDDY BEAR...COME ON...LET'S BE BUDDIES...CAN I CALL YOU GRANDPA?πŸ€”

reply

I'm nice, too... it's just that I'm concerned about the direction our society is headed.

Why would you call me "grandpa" when I don't have grandkids? I consider that an insult.

I don't know if your posts are for real. Or is "Kowalski" an online persona you've created? You do seem have a sense of humor.

reply

YOU KNOW...I THINK YOU AND I PROBABLY SEE EYE TO EYE MORE THAN EITHER OF US REALIZE OR WOULD BE WILLING TO ADMIT DESPITE MY BEARD AND TATTOOS...AS FAR AS PERSONA...THIS IS ME...MY DAUGHTER FINDS ME TO EQUAL PARTS HYSTERICAL AND FUN AND IRRITATING AND LOUD.πŸ™‚

reply

No, its just not just because you don't want a "dirty animal" in your house. It just seems like you need to lighten up in general. Kowalski is right when he says you sound like a cranky Grandpa, when I'm guessing we're around the same age.

reply

I forgot that there's no such thing as a baby animal, they pop out as a fully grown adult, skipping the baby phase.

reply

Yes, there are baby animals. These are still pets. "Your" baby would be a human. Or have scientists found a way for humans to give birth to animals?

reply

Your ignorance on the matter is profound. Nobody is referring to their baby animal as their biological baby. It's beyond stupid to even think in that way.

reply

You obviously haven't listened to how pet owners talk. "Come to Mommy!" "My fur-baby" "My little boy/girl" are a few examples. Or "I adopted a dog." Wrong. You adopt children, not pets.

"Pet parent" is another ridiculous term. I've seen this in commercials and print ads.

The most ludicrous thing I ever saw was a Father's Day card with the heading To my doggie daddy... "from" the pet. Now there's an example of "beyond stupid." Dogs don't send greeting cards.

Yes they are! I have two silver tabby cats: Harry and Tabby. Love'em!

😎 😺 😺

PS Tabby is sleeping on my desk right now. I'm at my computer which is on the next desk over

While Harry is on the road again. πŸŽΆβ€‹ 🎡 β€‹πŸŽΆβ€‹
Look at Harry, women, that's what males are like!
Prowlers!
And then contemplating in looooong studies why more males are single.

Harry is the living proof on 4 paws for the real reason.
After he's finished with his tomcat-pub-crawls he comes home, dirty and tired perhaps even with some bar fight's injuries, and only wants a good meal before he sleeps like a stone for hours.
Yah yah, we know our 'Harries'. ☺

My "essential" job was just murderous for two years, and for a long time things were so bad I didn't dare meet any loved ones in person. But every day, I'd come home to my sweet, loving, well-behaved, adorable pets. They made me happy when other sources of happiness were damned hard to come by.

My elder sweetie passed away a little while ago, and I was really surprised at how hard his death hit me, I could hardly function for days! He had been very old, but he didn't leave me until the worst times were over. Such a GOOD boy.

I HAVE TEN...ALL FORMER FERALS THAT I TAMED AND ADOPTED OR KEPT WHEN THEY FAILED TO BE ADOPTED...ALL MALE...I HAVE AN ENDLESS SUPPLY OF STUPID STORIES.

reply

Oh, hey I thought you would appreciate my latest addition to the coop. I recently added 5 pigeons that I got from a local bird rescue group. I thought my chickens might mess with them since they are new, but they don’t bother them at all. One of them has a broken wing that I guess healed all stiff years ago and he can’t fly but instead just hops around. I named him baby Django.

reply

Baby Django!
I like that name.
That little tough guy might just take over your yard some day, I’m rooting for himπŸ‘

reply

β€œlittle tough guy”

Yep, he’s going to have to be that way to make it. If a late night sneaky animal ever breaks in he’s going to have to hop with cat like swiftness. So far so good. πŸ˜€

reply

I’m rooting for him to be next Capo of the roost!
