Forever (2014) I think it should have gotten a few more seasons. It was only given one.

reply

I liked that show. Maybe wrong network?

reply

I'm not American so I don't know about any network politics. I just think it deserved more of a chance. I can't see how it would have been anymore expensive to make than the other shows.

reply

Forever was licensed by the network. The licensing fees were too high for the ratings it was generating. Also, it was up against Person of Interest, which had extremely good ratings in that time slot. Ironically the decision was made to end Person of Interest the next season after Forever had already been cancelled.

reply

Interesting. I felt Forever came along a little too late. There was a whole bunch of supernatural crime solving shows in the 00s. It would have fit right in back then.

reply

There were a few Supernatural type crime shows. I tried to find some info but I suspect this may have been one of those ideas that was on the shelf for a long time until being made too late for the trend as you say.

reply

Forever was another one of those "expert-and-quirky-sidekick-mystery-romance" shows. A third of the shows out there are identical in foundation. This was one of the ones that worked. I loved it.

We enjoyed it so much that we watched the lead actor in some Australian TV show called Harrow. Not bad but but hardly great by any measure. Likable actor.

reply

I tried watching Harrow but couldn't get into it. Aussie TV isn't very good usually. He does seem likable I agree.

reply

Yeah. A C+ show that coasts on its characters. It had potential but never aspired to be grand.

Models Inc.

Firefly

The Adventures of Brisco County jr, Bruce Campbell at his best

Keen Eddie, Bought this on DVD recently. Really enjoyed it

reply

I never watched Briscoe when it was originally on but I got into it when it played on Saturday mornings in the late 90s.

reply

I dust off Keen Eddie every few years. That was a great show.

reply

I likes the not-X-Men X-Men tv show:

"Game of Thrones"!

They should have taken another 2-3 years to do a proper job of the ending, dammit! But this is the rare case where the network didn't cancel it, HBO would have been happy to keep the money train going for a few more years. No, it was the fucking showrunners who just wanted to get it over with and who make a mess of things...

Dead Like Me - so funny and quirky.

Swingtown

Limitless

BrainDead

When I was a kid I really liked Tales of the Gold Monkey with it’s Raiders of the Lost Ark vibe. It seems like it only lasted a season or so.

A little digging shows that supposedly it’s cancellation was due to its high production cost versus viewership.

reply

I used to watch that show.

Battlestar Galactica is the poster child for that infuriating practice!!!!
