What happened to being nice?

I'm probably going to be jumped for this message but I seriously would really like to know. Manners, being kind, is there wrong with being such? You see it on the news. It can be witnessed on these boards. Posters calling another stupid or their opinion is stupid. Is it difficult? Is it hard to be nice?

reply

It seems this site has been taken over by a bunch of immature snowflakes who can only insult people they don't agree with.

reply

I believe you just hit the nail on the head, Stratego.

😎

reply

Says the guy who just used an insulting term for people he doesn't agree with....

reply

No, I used an insulting term for people who are jerks. Learn the difference!

reply

Careful, showing a sense of humour and/or personality is now frowned upon at moviechat.org.

reply

"No, I used an insulting term for people who are jerks. Learn the difference!"

Actually you didn't, but most posters here already know you're a liar.

reply

Yes, I did. The whole thread was about people who call others and their opinion stupid. Those people I called immature snowflakes. Now weren't you done spending your precious time on me?

reply

No, you didn't. You insulted people you don't agree with...exactly what you supposedly condemned. Guess you'll keep playing your game of "If I keep saying it, it'll become true."

But again, we all know you can't help lying. It is tourette's, some form of OCD, or just pathological?

reply

The only thing I disagree with is their behavior of insulting people because of their opinion.

Who's "we" exactly? You and the other special snowflakes?

reply

Same as "you guys."

So again, we all know you can't help lying. It is tourette's, some form of OCD, or just pathological?

reply

Ah yes, so "we" does mean immature liberals who insult people because of their opinion. Good to know.

reply

Wrong again, lie-boy. It means the normal, non-lying, non-cowardly folks who post here...which absolutely excludes you on all counts.

reply

I'm not a boy nor do I lie. So try again. Calling people names on the internet because of their opinion is NOT normal or non-cowardly. Is that what you also do in "real life"?

reply

You do nothing but lie, and you've proven you're a coward several times. That's not name-calling; it's stating facts. Don't have to try; you out yourself constantly.

reply

Again, learn the difference between a question and a lie. Calling people names is not stating facts. Liar.

Now are you finally done with me, like you said you were?

reply

I knew the difference in 3rd grade. You remain a lying coward...likely always were one. Now GFY

reply

Then you must've forgotten it. Just prove how a question is a lie. And why did you lie about being done with me?

reply

Nope; forgot nothing. Why does your lying cowardly self keep replying?

reply

Because I never lied about being done. So why are you still replying, liar?

reply

True; probably the only time you didn't lie, coward. I'll stop when I feel like it.

reply

Then you're a liar, like always.

reply

Lying coward says what? And you can't prove but one lie I told, lying coward. But as usual, since you're a lying coward, all you can do is continue to lie.

reply

You saying you were done is already one lie. And you saying I lied is another one. You really need to prove how a question is a lie.

reply

No, lying coward...I'm not "saying" you're a liar; I'm simply stating the FACT you're a lying coward. Learn the difference, lying coward.

reply

That's another lie, because you haven't proven yet how a question is a lie.

reply

Nope; not a lie at all, lying coward. You started that question BS because you're too much of a lying coward to admit the truth. But keep grasping at straws, lying coward.

reply

Prove a question is a lie, otherwise you're lying...again.

reply

Keep lying, lying coward, You made a false accusation, then repeatedly lied like the coward you are instead of having the stones to admit it. Your whole "it was a question" BS is an obvious attempt to keep up your cowardice. But keep straw-grasping. Maybe you'll grow a pair one day, but I'd say doubtful. You'll be a lying coward for the rest of your pointless life.

reply

How is a question an accusation? How is replying to me being "done" with me?

reply

How is it you just continue to lie, lying coward? How is is you can't even admit you made a false accusation based on what something "seemed" to your low-level perception, lying coward?

Need to be refreshed? Likely so, because your memory is apparently less than a bedbug's...your words, lying coward: "he seems immature enough to have accused"

That's a false accusation, lying coward.

reply

Prove a question is a false accusation. How come you just keep on lying?

reply

That wasn't a question, lying coward. It was a false accusation, lying coward. How come you're such a sniveling little lying coward who can't admit the truth, lying coward?

reply

You need to go back to school to learn what a question is. And "it seems" is not an accusation, it's the impression you give to me.

reply

And you need to go back to school and learn what a false accusation is, lying coward. You argued about others regarding that in the thread, lying coward. The impression you give to me, which also happens to be an absolute fact, is that you're a lying little coward. And an incredibly stupid one at that. You seem to be the kind of lying coward who never admits a lie. A pathological lying coward.

reply

Prove that a question and an impression are an accusation and a lie.

reply

Prove that youw own words, above, are a question, lying coward. Admit that you made a false accusation, which was NOT a question, lying coward. Until then, you're nothing but a lying coward with zero credibility. We can keep this up all week. Grow a pair.

reply

One quote was a question (hence the question mark), the other was an impression
(It seems...). Neither are false accusations. So you're just going to keep on lying. Don't you have other things to attend to in your "real life"?

reply

It seems, then making a statement trhat's false is a false accusation, lying coward. Don't you have a specoal class to attend, lying coward? The one in the short bus, lying coward? Oh yeah; GFY, lying coward.

reply

A question is not a statement. An impression is only a statement of how something appears to ME. So prove they're lies or stop lying. What's really pathetic is that you felt the need to take this discussion to another thread.

reply

Shove your Bs semnantics., lying coward. Not working, because they're lies. What's even more pathetic is that you're too much of a little lying coward to admit you were wrong. Based on your cowardly and l,ing nonsense, it appears to me you're the type who would be a crack whore. So guess that's perfectly fine with you, because it's only how things seem to ME. Now go out and find some winos so you can afford a Big Mac for dinner, lying coward CH.

reply

You're raving like a pathetic, lying lunatic. I didn't offer sexual services or use drugs on this website, so your suggestion is pretty absurd. Now again, prove how a question and an impression are lies.

reply

And I never said Barron Trump is autistic, so your suggestion was equally absurd, lying coward/crack whore. Now again, grow a pair and admit you're a lying coward. Or go find some winos.

reply

You love calling people names, especially Trump and his supporters, so it wasn't that much of a stretch. I didn't lie, I simply asked a question and you could've just directly answered it.

reply

Wrong, lying coward/crack whore. You made a false acusation, then proceeded to defend it to several other posters who told you you were wrong, lying coward/crack whore. And I answered myself later, lying coward/crack whore. But no; little lying coward/crack whore can't say it made a mistake; you have to keep on lying and being a coward. You're as sorry as they come, lying coward/crack whore.

reply

Not an accusation, simply a question. Liar.

reply

Nope. A false accusation, lying coward/crack whore. Now go find some winos to be with and give diseases to, lying coward/crack whore. Now we're really done. You can throw all the BS around you want, the FACT remains you're a lying coward. Come back when you can be a human being and admit you were wrong.

reply

What? I thought you were a whino??? (That's a question, by the way.)

You better stay away this time, otherwise you told another lie.

reply

Like I had typed to another member, most people on here have some variation of an acute mental illness. I have had, what started out as civil discussions with people, that then turn into full blown ignorant comments aimed directly at me, which include direct insults. I just report their butts and let the mods deal with it.

I have had one person I rarely ever respond to just tell me not to type to them again, probably because their political view is different.

I have had people complain that having curiosity is a bad thing and that I should not be asking questions and not drawing out discussions.

I have had people writing that they give me good advice and when I question it, I am the jerk. LOL

reply

Well , that didn't take long.

reply

And that is why I say that some of the people on here, not trolls, have something that is a bit "off".

reply

🍻

reply

And we think it is because of the trolls that people are going away? We have more than a troll problem, we have a civilized problem and these are with people that do not fit the troll definition.

reply

🍻

reply

That is why I seriously think some of the people on here have mental instability problems.

Think about it for a second. Why are people on this forum (well other than having a love of movies/ tv shows)? Probably because they cannot socialize with people in real life. It is all ready bad enough we use internet and technology to communicate; however, if they name call at the slightest bit of disagreement, it must mean they have a problem communicating with others on here as well. It is my theory and I feel it holds true.

Now when I say that, many people probably will be offended and those are the people you know, have this problem.

Well said, Godeway, but please do not go away. We need more intelligent posters like you, and less of the snowflake kind.

😎

reply

Since you just violated the MovieChat standards by flaming and name-calling, I have reported you to the Moderators.
You should be hearing from them shortly.

Have a nice day.

Guess I'll have to start calling you Bender from now on!! 😉

As far as the game...
If you know how to copy and paste, then just copy and paste the emojis from this website, or any emoji website.

http://getemoji.com

And for the ones that people post that you can't see, just reply to the post and ask what the emojis are. We have to do this sometimes as the same emoji will show up differently on different devices.

So come on, give it a try. Copy and paste from the link. 😊

You're welcome, godeway. Please stay. As I mentioned, we need more intelligent posters like you.

😎

reply

Dewey, my friend, that's because that's all that they know how to do. I hope that you stay. I also hope that Jim actually looks at the sites and sees what a mistake it is to let
rumor and gossip threads be automatically dragged into the General Discussion domain. Real adults scorn rumors and gossip.

🍻

reply

Does anyone remember what the site was like in it's infancy? There were thank yous and your welcome.

reply

🍻

reply

Me too,it's not a great development and it does seem to be deliberate.

Some of the subject matter on these threads is contentious (*cough* about Trump)so the idea seems to be not to create debate but to create disagreement.

Disagreement is fine of course as long as people can recognise the moment of impasse and walk away when the time is right.

I used to wonder if anonymity spurs people to say stuff they wouldn't in real life but then I remembered Facebook and Twitter😟.I saw a fight break out in a thread about vegan macaroni and cheese on Facebook believe it or not.The vegan vs the dairy farmer.I wanted to stop reading it but couldn't...

reply

🍻

reply

The controversy was the fact that they'd had the audacity to put cheese in the title and yet it contained...gasp...no cheese.
Well it started like that and escalated really quickly, before I knew it there was pus in milk and the word moron was being bandied about.

I admire the US Mac n cheese, it is unafraid and bold.
Here a handful of cheddar and people are crying "its too much,we will all die of heart attacks".

reply

This is how they get you.

I won't go on anything political or religious. You are begging for problems.

Exactly godewey. Avoid like the plague!

reply

Anything I say online I can say to someone in person.

reply

Yes.

People always seem so cross and antagonistic online. I rarely allow myself to become so angry. It's a fruitless waste of energy and who needs the stress. Just walk away.

reply

I also hope that Jim actually looks at the sites and sees what a mistake it is to let
rumor and gossip threads be automatically dragged into the General Discussion domain.

Good point R_Kane, and I wholeheartedly agree.

reply

Thank you.

reply

"What happened to being nice?"

THE INTERNET.

reply

Being nice turned gay.

reply

If anyone would know about that, you would be he.

reply

Ever since message boards were introduced people calling out on others who disagree with you is a common phenomenon. As silly as it sounds people can really get sensitive about someone criticizing their beloved movie/TV show/ music etc. It's really silly because why should a person feel insulted when you criticize something the person itself didn't create?

People insult cos they can and they feel pretty safe as the other person is unlikely to harm them physically.

reply

I have no idea what the main problem is with people being mean to each other online.

Perhaps it is a combination of things that have already been mentioned in this thread and perhaps the true reason is that the world is full of people that have microaggression and are easily provoked into a full scale verbal assault against whomever angered them. Maybe too many people have a chip on their shoulder or maybe the real culprit is that written communication isn't always the best method of discussion because it doesn't convey other non verbal cues in language that are easily visible in a face to face conversation.

Or maybe the problem is that written language is way more complex than speaking. I just don't know. The answer is a complicated mystery.

reply

What I believe to be one of the biggest problems wheelin176 , is far too many members making things way too political. It seems that many of them can’t even express a basic (non-political related) opinion without somehow attaching a political ideology to it.

No one on the general discussion board knows my political views, and there is a reason for that; I don’t automatically assume that others will appreciate them.

To be clear, I am not opposed to political discourse, and it certainly has its place. I just don’t feel that place is on the general discussion board, and should be reserved for the political board. Just my $.02.

reply

I agree. You can somehow see a discussion about ice cream go political. For some reason the ice cream can lean to the left or right.
