what do star wars fans actually want??

because after empire strikes back they have been whinging about every movie or show after that 9 movies later and a few tv series. star wars fans who continue to watch them over and over again but hate them and contnue to keep watching

I just don't get it. if I hate something I give up and stop watching it but why are star wars fans since return of the jedi continue to keep watching and hoping but yet complain about it all when it is said and done. I think they secretly it but get so bored they have to pick it apart and complain about anything they can find. I am sure if we had Vader on screen 100% of the time they will still complain about something

reply

Being a true fan of "Star Wars", I want no more of these movies/shows.

reply

you know you don't have to watch them right? you say that and you say how much you probably didn't like this season but if they announced season 2 you would be there at midnight watching it from episode one along with everyone else that complained. they are there to make money and get subs now and that is exactly what it is doing because people keeping paying $$$$ to watch it over and over again even if they don't like it.

reply

Please link to or copy and paste any of these things that you assume I've said LMAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣

reply

Don't watch then?

A "true Star Wars fan". LOL, ok dork.

reply

Who the fuck said I watched? Lol asswipe. And since you didn't quote properly, I said a true "Star Wars" fan. There's a difference.

reply

Your overabundance of confidence is hilarious.

reply

So is your internet assholeness. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

reply

Simple pure fun. Something which would remind them of the sense of wonder they felt when they first saw a SW movie.

Just like every other fandom - Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who etc.

reply

That's like those Beatles-Fans who were waiting all the time for something similar to Yesterday. And it never came...

reply

The Lord of the Rings is one book. It is not any sort of series, albeit it the publisher chopped it into 3 parts. It does not belong in your comparison.

reply

I always thought because the quality has never exceeded the first movie, and Star Wars fans INSIST upon 100% quality of EVERY aspect of EVERY movie and TV show episode... ALWAYS.

reply

Something original for once.

reply

This. Invent some new characters, put them in the same universe, and tie events only loosely to other events known to have happened in the movies. Rogue One did this quite well, but those characters were (obviously) doomed. Other characters from the movies we know are going to live until the next movie. With new characters their fates could be an open question.

...why are star wars fans since return of the jedi continue to keep watching and hoping but yet complain about it...

That is a retcon. There wasn't some huge Phantom Menace style anger against ROTJ. Not sure why this seems to be suggested a thing nowadays. I guess it fits this narrative...

reply

It started several years ago. I forget exactly when, but I want to say maybe since the prequel era? A certain segment of the fanbase used to throw ROTJ in with the prequels. You'd be discussing the prequels and they'd throw in something like, "The writing has been on the wall since ROTJ" and as you stated, there was never anger, outrage, or disappointment on a mass scale when Jedi came out.

reply

Coherence and fun adventure I assume. Something to root for and sympathetic charismatic characters.

reply

I think you are letting a small minority speak on behalf of most fans.

The majority of fans love Star Wars and most of the products that have been created. You can see it in the ratings and reviews.

Unfortunately, the backlash from some fans to the prequels created this subculture of hating everything Star Wars. And while they don’t represent the majority, they get off from going everywhere on the internet and criticizing everything Star Wars. They are small but obnoxious.

It’s best just to ignore them.

^This

I'm a 90's kid so the Special Editions of the original trilogy and the prequels are my childhood. Now in my 30's the original trilogy is my favourite Star Wars content but the prequels have nostalgia for me as well. I'm not really a fan of the sequel trilogy, I don't like what they did to Luke Skywalker who is one of my favourite characters in all of popular culture.

But since Disney bought the rights I still think we've had some good/great stuff like Rebels, Rogue One, The Mandalorian and now Obi-Wan Kenobi. I'm really looking forward to next year with Mando season 3, Ahsoka series and eventually Taika Waititi's Star Wars film which I hope is set centuries after the Skywalker saga with new characters and worlds.

Would I have preferred Obi-Wan Kenobi had been a film instead? Absolutely, but I still enjoyed this show warts and all and I think overall the finale set up A New Hope fairly well.

This is sort of an unrealistic and unfair question. No one is going to want the same thing as someone else, especially when there are millions of them. It's not normal everyone is going to like or want the same thing, especially the more of it there is. This notion you can't criticize something is silly.

The original trilogy is generally beloved. You're overstating how much people "don't like" Jedi. The prequels have a mixed reception, the sequels have a mixed reception, Mando is liked, Boba is meh, and this show is mostly liked.
