Only on All Access

I guess the premiere will be on TV, but the rest of the episodes will not.

reply

They set themselves up for failure.

reply

Very true. I love Trek but no way am I going to subscribe just for one show.

reply

I subscribe to it, but only for my local CBS station that I can't pick upmwith an antenna. I also like some of the classic shows on there. Honestly, though, I wouldn't have signed up if this was all they had to offer.

reply

And no doubt P2P the next day.

reply

I notice CBS isn't included in some cable packages so instead they want the public to pay since the cable companies won't. Not happening.

Update: Netflix will be airing the show too!

reply

Not on Netflix in the U.S./Canada, but in the UK/Worldwide (25 Sept).

reply

Thanks for the updated information.

I guess I'll be waiting to borrow the DVD from the library.

reply

You're welcome.

reply

That's what I'll be doing. I enjoy marathoning shows nowadays anyway!

reply

Wait wait wait are you all f'n kidding me? Is this show not airing every Sunday night on broadcast? The website says new eps Sunday night at 8:30pm. What's the truth?

reply

The truth is if you want to watch this piece of garbage you have to get the CBS All Access app and pay a minimum of $5.99 per month.

reply

Heh, and get this...

The CBS All Access app that you have to pay for?

It has ads.

The rest of the world watching on Netflix gets to watch ad free.

In addition to that... the CBS All Access app caps out at 720p. And many users are reporting connectivity issues.

REAL great public relations work there, CBS.

This show is screwed.

reply

Nope. It isn't. If you want to watch, you'll have to sign up for CBS All Access, which is $6.00/month.

reply

That's a bummer because I enjoyed the first two eps. Hope this ploy fails miserably and cbs loses a ton of money. I'll be canceling my free trial subscription.

reply

You might not be able to. I was reading the other day that a lot of newer shows are abandoning the DVD format, just to get people to subscribe to the streaming services. The whole Marvel line of shows is taking that approach. Not sure if CBS will or not.

reply

It would be smarter to just delay the DVD release then they would make money both ways.

Either way, no loss. I hate the new show.

Fan response vs. CBS mentality:

Fan #1: I can't believe we can only watch this show online and have to pay for a new extra service streaming just to watch it! That is total BS! I'm not watching.
CBS suits: Obviously, people who respond negatively to our show are just narrow minded bigots who can't stand diversity on Star Trek.

Fan #2: "10 Years Before Kirk"? Huh? The trailers look and feel absolutely nothing like The Cage era of Star Trek in the "prime timeline" That is total BS! I'm not watching.

Fan #3: I don't want to see a "dark and gritty" melodrama about war with the Klingons. Star Trek is supposed to be an optimistic vision of the future and focus on exploring new worlds. This show seems focused on ugly Klingons In Name Only. That is total BS! I'm not watching.

LOL! Brilliant and most likely quite accurate!!

Me: Well judging from the HUGE hit Enterprise was you did not watch it when it was free either.

One more thing. The ratings this show would need to pull in to air on CBS are a lot higher than it would need as a streaming show. CBS will most likely keep the show on longer as a streaming show just to save face.

Me: Think of it as having more detail because of the advanced effects we have today.

Me: It is one FRACKING episode in and "dark and gritty" is the style of show today.

reply

Couldn't you just watch all them at the end of the season and buy one month of the subscription?

reply

I love how they want you to blow a bunch of money signing up to their streaming service so you can watch this one show!

Plus, you have to pay $10/month to watch without commercials. The basic fee means you are paying to watch the show, AND you have to sit through commercials!

Lastly, I loved how they so thoroughly screwed up the first episode on broadcast. It was 19 minutes late due to the NFL kneelers. And then, you have to have interminable commercial breaks all throughout the episode. And, each break included a 15-second advert to blow money on CBS All Access. Good luck with that! :-P

reply

I didn't watch the show, and I am still thinking I won't, but I do subscribe to CBS All Access just for my local CBS station (which I can't seem to pick up over the air). I look at it as my monthly "Jeopardy/Wheel of Fortune Subscription"

reply

That's ACTUALLY a good reason to subscribe! "Discovery" isn't. :-)
