So if I made a post...

...that said "so-and-so male is an arrogant prick..." and listed the reasons why, would it be removed as well, like the equivalent post about Brie Larson? Somehow, I highly, highly doubt it. Because now apparently, in the minds of the far-left ideologues, any criticism towards women is automatically labeled as "misogyny." Meanwhile, the harshest critiques pointed toward men are not only a-okay, but will often be encouraged.

If women are so strong and independent, why do you feel the need to coddle and protect them from all criticism? You wouldn't give the same treatment to a man, would you? "Equality", ladies and gentlemen. None of this makes any sense whatsoever. And let me be clear, I don't want critiques removed, harsh as they may be... about anyone, from any side. Let it be destroyed by subsequent posts, if it is so logically unsound.

So what exactly is this site coming to, if mods are listening to "snowflakes" (his words) like BrunoAntony, someone who is so threatened by opinions he disagrees with that he feels the need to suppress them. Are actions like this going to become a common thing? If so, what a sad state of affairs this is...

“When you tear out a man's tongue, you are not proving him a liar, you're only telling the world that you fear what he might say.”

Are you looking forward to seeing the Movie? I cant wait

reply

Same here. Looking forward to learning her story, powers and how they might affect Infinity War. Also looking forward to the Samuel L and Brie banter which you know will be great.

reply

Hollywood is looking forward to taking your money.

reply

And for 10 bucks they can have it , worth the money , looking forward to it

reply

I expect it to be a good fun time. Nothing more, nothing less.

reply

I think the reason it got deleted was probably because you used the c word, which for come reason is widely considered ruder than "prick" (even though it's also genitalia).

I think you're still allowed to call her arrogant and even use the odd expletive.

reply

Makes you wonder why one is considered ruder......

reply

Yeah, they should be equal. No, wait, female genitalia is stronger. 😂

reply

I wasn't the author of the original post, just fyi. The direct cause of its deletion was that user BrunoAntony reported it - who knows what perspective the mod had that was in agreement with that reporting. I don't think the "c-word" is the real issue, it's that these people claimed the post was "misogyny", when if directed toward a male it'd just be yet another post.

For instance, if you critique Thor: The Dark World, no one is going to bat an eye. But if you critique Black Panther, you will have some of these people claiming you're a racist.

Basically, this is all ironically regressive as hell, and instead of treating people equally, certain types of people (based on their skin color or gender alone) are now "off limits" from harsh or even run-of-the-mill criticism... and that criticism will be used to falsely, and harmfully, label the person who made it as racist, misogynistic, etc.

reply

Ah, sorry I assumed it had been your post.

I don't know, there's plenty dodgy posts on moviechat that stay. I think maybe combined with the c word gets the posts canned. I may be wrong as I'm not all over every post so I'm not saying you're wrong, just that I've personally seen that word have more post nuking power than having bad things to say about a female celebrity.

I see what you mean about Black Panther vs Thor criticisms. I've seen a few wild posts there. Sometimes I think people just love to fight.

reply

maul What is MC afraid of if they don't delete "offending" posts? Are they afraid of losing money? All they are doing is catering to a bunch of insecure little SJW crybabies and not letting REAL people with a spine express the truth and their opinions when something is not right with a celebrity or a film in general.

reply

You don't mean the "truth" but "their opinions", right? Otherwise, you just proved them right.

reply

Truth and opinions go hand in hand.....proved what to them? Man, you are a fuckin' ballbuster dude lol.....you need to chill out.

reply

Now imagine Glenn Close saying "Cunt!" instead of "Prick!" it surely wouldn't be the same now would it?

reply

I dunno. I don't have a problem with either word. 😂

My favourite deliverers of the word are the Australians. When they say it it sounds like a bitchslap. 👌

reply

maul I see they deleted my post......just proves to me the type of one sided and biased cowards that run this site and society in general lol. Welcome to the new fascist, PC society where no one can speak their minds freely and must act the same and like everything that everyone else likes, if you don't comply....you get silenced.

reply

It's depressing, no doubt.

Don't you know a stranger typing things you (want to) find "offensive" at you, can be traumatic and leave one scarred for life?

It makes perfect sense when you understand that LIEberals -- generally speaking -- are notoriously misandristic and often heterophobic.

reply

Looks like I was right about the c word being the big bad in that post. Read the moderator's response in the now deleted thread. The c term is considered misogynistic by the mods here.

reply

Yep, I just did it to confirm that.....the mods hate freedom of speech if it doesn't comply to SJW Liberal standards. What a bunch of cowards.

reply

The word shouldn't be worse than prick, but, well, it holds more power. No genitalia should be insulting since we get the so much pleasure from them. It's interesting we have such a weird relationship with the words.

reply

The weird thing about feminism is they want protection from men but doesn't that imply they are not our equal?

reply

I think it certainly would be. More personally, I hope it would be.

This site exists because people like you ruined the imdb comment sections. Everything became politics, conspiracy theories, rage, and rudeness. The latter especially has no place here.

I've seen no political or social agenda on the part of this site's moderators. If someone says something egregious, the comment is removed. This does not strike me as anyone being threatened by an opinion or needing to suppress anyone, and I see zero evidence of any encouragement towards any brand of rudeness. The posts that are being deleted are only being deleted because they are rude and have no place here.

The goal seems to be to encourage a friendly, ongoing discussion about film, and it strikes me as a nearly impossible task. The moderators do the best they can based on what I assume to be limited resources, and err on the side of not deleting things.

What the site is hopefully coming to is one where someone like you will go elsewhere to foster dissent and spout hatred. Freedom of speech, at least here in the USA, is a wonderful thing, and it means you will always have somewhere else to go if your ideas and words aren't wanted where you were. You can even start your own movie comment site and brand it as the edgy one that allows anger, rage, insults and threats. As far as I know, Moviechat is meant to be a friendly place to discuss film-related topics.

100% agree.

The person who started this thread (“maul”) has nothing to say. If you look at his posting history (nearly 500 posts), it’s all just griping, attacks on other forum members and relentless negativity.

Unfortunately, when you get a few people like this (usually with unlimited free time on their hands) who attach themselves to a message board, they attract others. It’s why you see so much rambling about SJWs, feminists, “LIEberals”, “Hollyweird”, etc here.

It’s crazy nonsense...

You're correct. Comments get deleted when they break MovieChat's rules, period. The goal is to encourage friendly, civil adult discussions, and we do err on the side of not deleting or warning members when possible.

All members agree to MovieChat's rules when they sign up. Can't complain when they break the rules and their posts are deleted and they're given a warning.

Thanks for understanding our intent.
