the amount of black actors became a joke!

Like every second person was BLACK! This is the 1960s, and even today in the UK there is like 3% black population! Watching this movie you'd think it was closer to 50%

I'm so sick and tired of the blatant liberalism infecting our movies! You are ruining it!

reply

I dont understand why everyone doesn't understand how stupid this is? (this issue, not your post)

It's like.... gee, does this mean we now HAVE TO shoe horn in an equal amount of white people into all those BLACK movies? Makes equal sense, right? I mean... "Equality" am I right??

There will always be black and white and all our tastes will not ALL BE EQUAL. It's silliness to force it.

Keeps films proportional to the demographic of the POCKET BOOKS you are after.
I love the crap out of many black films! And if they stuffed them full of white people for diversity sake, it completely compromises someone's artistic vision.

Just makes films, black, white, gay, trans for whomever, but stop trying to stuff EVERTHING into everyones's faces. That will never work. Never has, never will.

reply

Lol well unfortunately for you, this non-issue which is "ruining" movies for you, isn't going away ever!

Your options are either stop watching movies and TV, or keep pissing in the wind with these rants! Your call!

BLACK SUPERMAN 2024!!!

reply

Lol, you are obviously young and very wrong. Our culture moves back and forth like a teeter totter, and it will again. Give yourself enough life experience and you'll eventually see it. This fad of forced diversity is eventually going to affect the bottom line, and the almighty dollar will trump any created agenda.

reply

Can you provide an example of that? I'm racking my brain and when it comes to social issues(race, religion, gender, etc) I can't think of any examples of US society being regressive and not progressive. Granted, there is always resistance and backlash, but if were talking a timeline of years, these things really only go in one direction.

reply

The 20s and 30s were very liberal, but the 40s and 50s went completely the other direction. Then 60s and 70s were super progressive, and the 80s and 90s were considerably more conservative. We are almost at the end of this liberal cycle.

reply

AND WHEN THE CYCLE ENDS...ALL THE NON WHITE ACTORS JUST GO AWAY?

reply

Being historically accurate isn't a non-issue. This movie was one of the big hopes for 2021, and it is going to lose money. The movie had several issues of which this was one.

"isn't going away ever!" I hope for your sake it isn't. Realistically, it will fade into the background like most at the moment trends. Black people don't have worldwide appeal, which is why you rarely see an all-black movie that isn't geared towards black-only audiences only. They're only getting away with it, again, at the moment, because of the historically unusual time the world is living through, cheap streaming movies, and people's alibility to spend more time behind the television at home.
Most people hate being strong-armed into complying to forced norms btw.

If the race of actors in a film ruins it for you, then you have a serious problem. For most normal people (ie. not racists), it is not an issue at all.

reply

You mean a non issue at all like the non issue of Gal Gadot playing Cleopatra? A non issue like ScarJo in GitS? Like Matt Damon in The great wall? Like Jake G in the prince of Persia? Tom C in The last samurai? Iron Fist? Because I remember differently ... and mind you almost all those characters had good reasons to be cast in that role.

You would scream murder if a movie in a different, poc country would have half of the cast white ... but i bet you cheered at Anne B or Ariel being black. Or Superman.

I wonder who is the actual racist ...

PS: It didn't really bother me that there were many black characters, I didn't even notice that. I guess that propaganda and brainwashing is working (as seen even better on you).

reply

Cleopatra was of Greek descent. Gadot was actually a good cast.

A non issue like ScarJo in GitS?

ScarJo was playing an Android. It seems weird that your problem with that casting is who plays a fucking ROBOT, when you had non Japanese actors playing (allegedly) Japanese people. Like this one, but I guess since he's black, that's OK.

Iron Fist?

Iron Fist character was originally a white dude from New York. It seems that we've reached the point where a white dude playing a white character has become politically incorrect (unless that character is evil or a feeble, of course, then it's mandatory to be white).

Like Matt Damon in The great wall? Like Jake G in the prince of Persia? Tom C in The last samurai?

Here you have a point, but we're talking a few movies versus every fucking movie and series nowadays. Not to say that if you take, for example, The Last Samurai, the portrayal of Japanese people was extremely respectful. Ken Watanabe's character was great. Complete opposite of modern Hollywood, fully committed to demonize white males.

reply

Truth is, I don't give a shit about the race of any of these characters as long as the story is good. If anything, making him black seems kind of gimmicky, but if this finally gets us a good Superman movie then good.

Now the fact that him being black will really antagonize people like yourself is the part that I'm thrilled over!

reply

You missed the point, people like you have, and still do, shouted about white actors playing white characters for a while now. So it’s highly hypocritical to push the other way around.

reply

Since movies have been a thing, white actors could take on literally any role up until the last decade or so. Now when some of that goes the other way for the sake of diversity, you have a problem? Fuck off!

In any case, this is a losing battle for you, so enjoy being angry at literally every film you see for the rest of your life!

reply

yeah, i have a problem. Don't do it "for sake of diversity", do it because the story, the place, the context requires it while still keeping it closer to the real situation.

I will not be angry since most likely i will not watch it ... would not spend my money, or time, on shit.

reply

I see.So your saying that supposed anti-racist progressives who throw shade at shows like Friends or Seinfeld for being too white or complain at the idea of white washing a black character even though white characters are being black washed left and right are actually racists themselves.Because like you said for normal people the race of the actors shouldn't be an issue.

reply

Don't expect a woke to recognize its blatant hypocrisy.

Even though they know they're being total hypocrites, it's a "justified hypocrisy" to their fu..... distorted eyes. But they'll still deny that's what it is.

Every second person was black? Sorry, but I did not see that. Are we exaggerating a little? Maybe 1 out of 10...

Diversity is strength.

Not when someone is blackwashed (go to the 1961,1996 or 2006 ones)(
