Sorry left woke puppet reviewer but Doctor who was made a very long time ago and was always depicted as a straight white grandad. Until it was hijacked by woke fanatics who transformed it into a cringy woke dumster fire that it's creators never intended it to be. Sorry if that offends their fragile woke feelings but that's facts. I have no issue with silly things like Colors or genitalia that the wokes creepily obsess over. Loved Captain Jack Harkness but catering to lefty PC nuts has turned Doctor who into a joke of it's former self. I haven't seen anything after Capaldi. As far as i'm conscerned his final episode was the series finale.

Still can't get past how offensively they depicted the first Doctor in Capaldis final episode. Hartnells Doctor was a product of the era the show started in but his Doctor was not the sexist pig they depicted him as.

reply

Capaldi's doctor was woke as hell.

I would say more woke than this one so far ...

reply

I think the show, like many others, itself become very woke over the years but IMO not Capaldi. which as a viewer i looked past. Regardless of how woke you felt he was though he was still a straight white man. It's when they took the woke nonsense to the next level and altered the character himself that i was done.

What about the whole anti abortion message with the moon episode? Or the Isis Zygon episode.

What I find really interesting is people complain the show is now "woke" but when it was in an era they liked they look the other way.

This is why I hate the word woke as everyone has a different meaning for the word and everyone twists it. If it's shoving ideals and messages on the screen then kill the moon certainly fits this. The 3rd doctors era has a lot of messages in it.

I suppose the message of the articles headline is the show should be for everyone. You keep mentioning the doctor should be a grandad but male doctors where never seen as a grandad. The first doctor yes but the character had changed since then. They are also an alien.

I was also not keen on the idea of the doctor changing to a female back when it was announced but then I realised 2 things. Firstly the show was getting a bit stale and needed to do something different but secondary, I realised I was basing an alien on a human

reply

So you're fine with the progressive themes of the show as long as they don't include sexuality or colour? There have always been progressive storylines in the show. Usually antiwar and be good to the environment, but the third doctor (Jon Pertwee) even touched on intersex people. Yes he used the term hermaphrodite, but that was the 70s. Just because the doctor was portrayed by a white man why does that mean that an alien, who regenerates into different people can't be a different colour or sex? I just don't understand the outrage.

You mention Capaldi, but did you forget about him telling Billie about his man crush on the Master. About he thought she was a man back then, and then said "I think I was a man too"?

reply

The new show has always been progressive with inclusivity. It's preachy shoehorning and cringy woke writing that no one likes. And the show has recently become the embodyment of that. Sexuality and color doesn't bother anybody. Altering characters for the sake of catering to woke nuts most of whom probably never watched the show before all the woke pandering is what bothers people.

BTW in spite of what woke writers sprinkled into the writing to set up their new woke show it was always a show about a straight white grandad. And Capaldis Doctor was married so unless he was keeping a mighty big secret from Miss Rivers he's straight. Or BI i guess.

reply

I don't understand who it's altering a character who could literally be anyone. That was the whole point when Hartnell had to leave. The doctor regenerated into someone new.

I've been watching since the 4th doctor, and the show has always been progressive. I do call bullshit on colour and sexuality not bothering anyone. Do you not recall the backlash Martha got?

Galifrey is a fictional planet. The doctor is not human. Why should human rules apply to them? Also, I don't think the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th doctors could really be considered grandfathers.

reply

A lot of people stopped watching when Billie the queer baiter was cast and all the woke queer coding started back up.

reply

And if they have a problem with it, that's their problem. A lot of shows change or get boring to me. I stop watching if that's the case. It doesn't change the fact that other people still love whatever show I no longer like.

reply

"A lot of shows change or get boring to me."

And a lot of shows change then get boring. Doctor who used to be good sci fi. Now it's just boring woke propaganda more interested in identity politics than quality.

reply

Brilliantly said. I Completely agree and I to stopped watching after the last Capaldi episode (Christmas 2017).

reply

"Dr. Who has always been diverse" then spends the entire article talking about companions and side characters... 🙄

reply

Metro is the largest free tabloid in the UK. Every free tabloid is leftist, Commies are too cheap to pay for a news paper!
Of course the Entertainment Reporter is an uber woke girl. She doesn't even realize Doctor Who is not sci fi anymore!

reply

The BBC's target audience seem to be gay people now. Strictly, Doctor Who...just look at who they sent for the UK's Eurovision entry last night. Luckily I've never been a big fan of Doctor Who so they can't ruin the experience for me by woking it up to the extreme.

reply

What are you getting at with Strictly Come Dancing? The addition of same-sex couples..?

Many Eurovision entries were LGBT. Eurovision has been heavily LGBT for years now. The UKs was sleazy though.

reply

I'm not a homophobe by any means but our entry was just too much in your face gayness and yes, sleazy.

Let's be honest with SCD, is its audience going to be predominantly straight males? Cause I don't know any who willingly watch it.

reply

>Let's be honest with SCD, is its audience going to be predominantly straight males? Cause I don't know any who willingly watch it.

True.

But it's always been like that. Strictlys also been kicking for some time.

reply

Then stop watching it.

Otherwise, you're agreeing with them.

reply

It wasn't made for a lot of people. I tried watching the original British Dr. Who. It was so ridiculously unwatchable.

reply

Do we have bets placed on how long this version of Dr. WHO will last?? If it wasn't broken, why fix it and make it worse?? 🙄 I'm going to make a remake of the movie "SHAFT" and in my version, a white man will be used for the part of "SHAFT".. How long do you think that would last?? 🤔

reply

I mean the previous era as in Chibnall's era didn't do well so something clearly needed to change.

Don't get me wrong I do feel the new era feels a bit too Disney at times but Boom has given me hope

reply

"I mean the previous era as in Chibnall's era didn't do well so something clearly needed to change."

Agreed but what changed. The problem with Chinall's era was they went full steam ahead and started outright pandering to the fanatical woke audience. RTD's doing the same damn thing. Between Chibnall and RTD they've shit on the character and backstory (Timeless children nonsense) so much that the only way i can see them saving this show is a hard reboot. Start from scratch and erase all the damage they did.

reply

To be honest you could argue Chibnall's era was actually anti woke as it's messages where messed up and not properly thought out.

I mean Spyfall part 2 has the doctor turn off the masters perception filter so the Nazis see him for who he is, which is problematic considering the master was played by an Indian actor so the doctor basically used the masters skin colour against him.

You also have stuff like the doctor not wanting Robertson to shoot the spider who is clearly in pain, and the show basically shows us leaving it to suffocate is the better solution.

The main one you could argue about is Orphan 55, as the ending was very lecturing to the audience. However the problem isn't the message but the delivery. No one is disagreeing that pollution is bad just that the message should have been better incorporated into the episode.

That's the point really, the show has always been woke, sometimes the messages are just written poorly. Genesis of the daleks is not subtle about it's nazi elements, but I also personally feel it also is able to represent the idea of racism itself so that future people may still find it relatable to current events. It's also an entertaining story.

I'm also not a fan of the timeless child but it's been done and we'd be stupid to think RTD would go against his friend. He's explained he isn't going to focus on the scfi parts of it but explore how it effects him. By having Ruby also be adopted they can explore this without having to delve into the lore which is probably the best way they could use it
