Pseudo-intellectual nonsense

There's a difference between an intelligent plot and a plot that's convoluted for the sake of being convoluted. It's a shame Hans Zimmer wasted his beautiful score on this exposition-laden drivel.

It is not a bad movie but it certainly is overrated. They took the element of "trying to make the story sound smart" a bit too far.

^^^^

I agree with that statement.

reply

the more times i watch this film.. the more I agree.

it's fairly overrated. even when i try to follow all details and character motivation, etc.. i still find the plot pretty convoluted and weak.

cool visuals tho . .

In all sincerity can you be a bit specific? I loved this movie when it came out and I saw it yesterday at the theater and still love it.

What is "trying to make the story sound smart" a bit too far?

I am not looking to argue, I’m honestly curious.

Thanks in advance.

reply

Why do you keep watching it if you don't like it?

reply

Y'all too stupid

reply

Yeah, but it was great-looking, marvelously atmospheric nonsense!

I like the movie overall, even though it doesn't do to look too hard at the script.

reply

Meh it really wasn't that interesting visually. For a movie about dreams it was incredibly sterile and unimaginative.

reply

I always found it to be a weaker, more pretentious, less impressive version of The Matrix.

reply

I could say the same about.

reply

About what?

reply

agreed

reply

I am beginning to think that it is.

reply

Was it really convoluted though? A dream within a dream isn't all that complicated to understand.

reply

It is for the poster and others here. "Pseudo-intellectual" Really.
