And it was awesome!

Winter came for House Frey! The NORTH REMEMBERS!

reply

aaaah YES thank you!!!! can't watch the show until tomorrow so I'm gonna leave before more spoilers but this is sooo good to hear!! Frey bastards!!!!

reply

Arya is as awesome as Sansa is lame. Love her.

reply

Such an awesome scene. Arya rocks!

You might consider editing the title of this thread so people who aren't caught up aren't spoiled.

reply

I'll drink to that!

reply

IT WAS SO GOOD!
When we see walder in the beginning I knew it had to be Arya and the wine was poisoned. I mean you just see it coming a mile off what is about to happen, it's not a surprise but it's still sooooo satisfying to watch it unfold.
Perfect opening scene.
And she spared the child bride, so someone would tell the story.
BAD ASS
as she walks away from an explosion in slow motion
Arya= clint eastwood+ a ninja

Completely agree with all the above, but want to add that MAISIE WILLIAMS NOW HAS HER OWN STAND-ALONE CREDIT in the opening credits! Long overdue. I like Sophie Turner, but they've been giving her stand-alone recognition for too long before giving the same respect to Maisie, and I feel that Maisie surpasses Sophie in every way, except for age.

I hope that Arya and Brienne finally get to bond. That would (will?) be a ridiculous mentorship.

reply

So surprising, Arya is a way bigger fan favorite than Sansa. Never noticed Maisie never had her own stand alone credit in the opening credits. Way overdue.

GoT has no shortage of dangerous and deadly women: Arya, Brienne, Cersei, and Dany have way more kills than all the men on the show. Then you've got Melissandre's blood magic, Lady Olenna's lethal machinations, Lady Mormont's balls of steel, dark horse Sansa, and the Sand girl clan, and it's pretty much last woman standing from here on out.

reply

I saw it coming too, and it was still amazing! 😱
Strange to think of Arya saying all that; she certainly learned some acting skills while with the Faceless Men. And the wtf faces on the Freys once they realized something wasn't quite right.

One question, though: Did she spare all the daughters? I don't remember seeing any women drinking and dying.

reply

Yeah it looked like all dudes in that hall. She left the girls alive because she underestimates them... EVEN THO SHES A LITTLE GIRL HERSELF.

I'm sure there are still male children Frey's alive too, she's not into killing babies. so that 20 years from now they can start a war to avenge their house.
It's funny because Arya's speech to them was "leave one wolf alive and the sheep are never safe" (basically they made a mistake in leaving one little girl Stark alive) but then she left some of the Frey's alive!
What makes her think those girls won't become a badass just like her and make their own list?
I say kill em all.

reply

Good points. Then again, I think she only really wanted to kill the ones involved in the Red Wedding, so kids and women wouldn't have been on her radar. Also, women don't keep the Frey name once they marry, so killing all the men would effectively wipe out the House.

reply

Well they wouldn't keep the Frey name, thye might not even get married, but Arya herself has proven that a young unmarried girl can wreak furious havoc on her own.
She should not underestimate those girls.

reply

I know. I'm just trying to think of a reason for her to spare them.

reply

She's a softie. She doesn't like to kill women and children (except for cersei).
It's just ironic because she is both a woman and a child.

reply

Plus she feels bad for the woman servants and Freys child bride. Can you imagine being stuck with that ole goat behind closed doors? I shudder to think of it, lol

reply

It's highly unlikely that the women will seek revenge because no doubt they will be afraid of someone who can sneak in behind their backs and kill so many people with apparent ease. They won't know how to go about such an enterprise as seeking the death of Arya nor will likely have the will to face the Starks if they do bear a grudge against them versus deciding to leave well alone.

Arya was in some senses extremely lucky to make the contacts she did - maybe it was poetic justice for the sake of her father Ned Stark who was a good man cruelly put to death by the morally bankrupt families of Westeros. Her revenge was meant to be it seems.

reply

I think the difference here is that Arya grew up loved and she herself took pride in beeing a Stark.
The Frey females where all treated like cattle. Why would they want revenge? They are probably glad to be rid of the lot of them.

reply

I loved that too! It was so awesome when she started toasting the Freys Red Wedding Masacre and called them out on their cowardly slaughter. It felt so satisfying.

reply

Amazing opening for the show! Loved it!
