Boy Did 90s Movies Suck

Watching this 25 yrs later somehow in my youth I didn’t realize the plot hole of them switching faces also changed their entire hairstyle as well as their entire body composition. What a dumb movie.

IT'S A MOVIE...FICTION...PERHAPS YOU SHOULD GRAVITATE TOWARDS DOCUMENTARIES.

reply

If Travolta's dancing, I'm watchin .

reply

I wanna strut! 🕺

This film was a product of its time. Very few films hold up 25 years later. I enjoyed this when it came out and onwards.

reply

This movie is a god damned masterpiece.
Nic Cage and Travolta killed it and John Woo will forever be a legend.

What's crazy is that 25 years ago switching faces/face transplants were total scifi but now it's actually possible.

reply

REALLY?...WANNA SWAP?

reply

LOL I think I'm good with my own face thanks.

reply

IF WE DON'T SWAP FACES WE CAN'T SEDUCE EACH OTHERS WIVES.

reply

not sure if nick is same height and size as John if so they wouldn't notice.

I thought this film was cheesy and overdone when I saw it in the theaters. I felt a little embarrassed to have liked it at all.

Now, I agree 110% that it's a masterpiece ... BECAUSE it's cheesy and overdone

It's vintage Woo, and that might be enough, but Cage and Travolta bring their absolute A-game to their respective (and irrespective) performances. It's clear they took the assignment seriously and had a blast playing off each other and as each other.

I appreciate it more every time I see it

reply

Yeah this movie isn't meant to be realistic numbnuts. It's aim is to be fun and entertaining and it achieves that in spades.

90-th action movies were the best. They dont do them like that anymore. They still hold after 25 years. They are rewatchable because they were fun. They were campy and not very believably. On the other hand look how ridiculous looks all those Marvel movies from the point of psychics and reality.

Armageddon.
Face/Off
The Rock
Die Hard
Mission Impossible 1
Demolition Man
Point Brake
Speed
Terminator 1-2
Matrix
True Lies
Predator 1
Con Air
Independence Day
Totall Recall
Hard Target
The Long Kiss Goodnight
Last Boyscout
Air Force One
Fugitive
Escape from L.A.
Fifth Element
Starship Troopers

All those movies are so rewatchable and are constant on tv. You can watch them over and over again.

While that crap they made these days is so boring that people forget about them while they watch it. They watch it once and never again. So boring and lifeless it is.

reply

The best movies on your list, Die Hard, The Terminator and Predator, are from the 80's.

reply

Terminator 2 came in 1991. Which was the best Terminator movie.

Die Hard 2 came in 1990

Ok, Predator came in 1987. My mistake.

But it really doesnt matter. To count it to month to get into January 1 1990 and December 31 of 1999. Its just time. It was that vibe from late 80-th to early 00-th when best action movies were made. And we all collectively refer to them as "90-th time"

reply

T2 the best Terminator movie? Nope. Definitely not.

Die Hard was made in 1988, you wrote Die Hard, not Die Hard 2.

reply

I have to agree, for me T1 was the best terminator movie but I do love T2.

emori, instead of clutching at straws by pretending you meant die hard 2 (come on man! lol), why not just accept the valid criticism, knock off all those 80s films, and replace them with some of your giant misses? like seven and fight club for example

and for the bit where you said we all refer to these films as "90-th time"... lol what? :D

reply

Terminator 2 is not the best Terminator. In fact, it's a really dumb bad movie with only two good acting performances. The writing, dialog and plot are all bad and cringe, especially John. Also, are you aware Los Angeles has redheaded mullet trailer trash and lava factory steel mills? Also, Terminators just wear shades at night for whatevers. The whole damn thing is nonsensical and ignores everything about the story and mood of the original just to cash in on the retarded MTV generation of teens/young adults, aka the same nostalgia nerds who think its still the greatest terminator movie. Sorry manchild, it doesn't hold up.

reply

LOL. Terminator 2 is actually the only good Terminator movie.

reply

Nah, this is a true classic!

reply

I'm a girl, but no they didn't suck, at least not all. You're talking the decade we got Jurassic Park, The Truman Show, Shawshank Redemption, My Girl and so many more. You can't tell me there aren't films you actually love in this era.
