Imo Schumacher, Clooney and Schwarzenegger all redeemed themselves in 1999
8mm, Three Kings, and End of Days are all awesome imo.

The funny thing to me is that Schumacher directed Falling Down a few years earlier which was a very good film.

as you said he's done good film and isnt totally incompetent. and his sillier lighter style could have worked as a fun adventure and less gothic Gotham. But he made it a completely over the top, ridiculous, neon, campy, gay romp. you couldnt take a single second of the film seriously.
Schumacher's resume is a roller coaster track of good and bad movies (Falling Down and 8mm being good movies, the Batman movies, obviously, being bad [and did he direct St. Elmo's Fire? I think that's a terrible movie, too]).
shareUma was in Gattaca the same year as Batman & Robin. It’s interesting how one is regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time and the other is regarded as one of the worst.

Gattaca is superb, like many films written by Andrew Niccol (who also wrote The Truman Show), although I don't think B&R is quite as awful as everyone says it is.

Both quite average movies, Gattaca is slightly better but nowhere near to be considered "one of the greatest of all time". It's not even in the top 1000.
Same for B&R, just another silly comic book flick.
I think the only two that came out of it well in the long-run were Clooney and Thurman. Clooney shortly went on to be the biggest, or one of the biggest, stars in the world, and Thurman had the massively successful Kill Bill films to come.
By contrast, Schwarzanegger never really hit his pre-Batman & Robin box-office Midas Touch again, Silverstone never had another hit film, besides Clueless, O'Donnell eventually retreated to generic TV, Elle Macpherson and Vendela's much-hyped model-to-actress nascent film careers went nowhere, Vivica A. Fox is a prolific actress but mostly within b-movies, and poor Jeep Swanson died about a couple of months after this film premiered.
Admittedly, from a behind-the-scenes perspective, Akiva Goldsman somehow went on to win a (very undeserved) Oscar, and Joel Schumacher still had a couple of decent pictures left (i.e. Tigerland and Phone Booth).
Yeah Arnie never really got back on the A list track after B&R, he had his heath scare (heart transplant thing) then he said he found it abit difficult to return bc studios were abit apprehensive about his health (and no doubt the stink of B&R) . He'd had a big flop before with Last Action Hero but immediately bounced back with James Cameron hit True Lies, but after B&R it was End of Days, a moderate hit, then next two 6th Day, Collateral Damage bombed, and then his anticipated return as the Terminator in T3 was a hit but not on the scale of T2 and no had Cameron who was really the element that made Terminator work ..then he used T3 as like a promotional springboard for his politics thing, then a decade doing that then coming back action films that were just a step above stdvd, and Terminator which again like T3 didn't really deliver (the last one bombing like Indiana Jones is now, pretty unthinkable just a few years ago), and his return to Conan was seemingly cancelled, presumably when Terminator failed to deliver the expected box office

shareIt's funny you consider End of Days good since most people consider it bad. Frankly, I enjoy it but it's far away from my favorite film by him (my most favorite Arnold films came out between the 80s and 1996.
