Do you think Rambo was raped ?

While a POW in NAM ? He is very unhinged, very on edge, PTSD. It might be sexual trauma.
I love the film, R2 & 4 too.

That would do it, yep..

I was told once the POWs wern't raped cause they weren't even looked as humans and you got your ass banished from the village if you laid with a western man.

reply

I was told a lot of rapists dont look at their victims as human

reply

No.
He is on edge because he is treated very similar by the cops to how he was treated as a POW in Nam.
The movie goes out of its way to make that clear and show the -exact- parallels... and there is absolutely nothing sexual.

Then they smeared hand lotion all over his buttocks. As Curtis cried out for help, the private mounted him. He began to rape him and was heard to exclaim that it was “really good, it was tight.”

"Given the stigma attached to rape, especially decades ago, and the added stigma attached to male rape victims, it’s shocking that the case ever became public, no less that it went to trial in a military court, or that the victim gave clear, graphic, painful testimony. The truth was out there, but no one ever told this story to the wider world—neither the victim, the perpetrators, the witnesses, the lawyers, the judge, the commanders at the base, nor a historian. You could read thousands of books on the Vietnam War—even books devoted to hidden histories, secrets, and the like—and never know that, in addition to rifles and rice paddies, war is also about rape, even male-on-male rape, even GI-on-GI rape. Just how many such rapes occurred, we’ll never know, because such acts were and generally still are kept secret."

It is because of that stigma that it would have been kept quiet and I bet it was quite a frequent occurrence as well. Not just in Vietnam but in the military in general. The victim himself probably would have been hoping it wouldn't get out to the newspapers etc.

In Rambo 2 he never once tried to have sex with Julia Nickson. This may be an indicator that he in fact was suffering from sexual trauma.

then home - and it was full of tunnels and banditos!

reply

Actually he did... but only after she died.

reply

You do realize this story is fiction. Nothing was ever discussed within the plot whether he was raped or not

reply

again with the "What happens offscreen, didnt happen"

Where would you even get that idea?

reply

He's a Liberal Progressive. They've been inundated with the fascination of male-on-male sex.

It's all the Left cares about: degeneracy.

reply

Yeah, Leftists see homosexuality in everything. Every movie, every male friendship... They are literally obsessed with gayness. It's like that saying, if all you have is a hammer, then everything looks like a nail.

reply

Usually people who bring rape into the discussion have rape fantasies. Is that you?

reply

Heh, I knew this post would generate a lot of responses. And occasional "subject-themed" arguments. But anyways, briefly speaking, no, I don't think he was.

However.

With this movie, it shows that in its own way, perhaps, the traumas associated from war and its aftermaths are in a way, different, sure, but still serious and worth making a film about.
