Would this show fly today?

Woman fawning over a strong independent man. Scantily clad eye candy for men. A lone man often being the hero. The writing is a product of its time, much different than what you see today.

I wonder what the reaction (if any) would be if it were put on TV today as is (plus updated special effects).

I would love it. It would have record breaking ratings. ... and they'd cancel it.

reply

I'd watch it.

reply

I watched it then, and I'd watch it now.

Buck would be remade into a bulldike with a milquetoast male sidekick Col. Deering.

reply

It would totally fly with audiences. It's Hollywood and the elites that have changed, not the viewers.

reply

Colonel Deering wasn’t just beautiful she was also a pretty tough and capable character.

reply

Definitely not just eye candy. She was a skilled and professional pilot.

I liked the one where she was tough enough to climb out of that cave, and capable of saving herself.

Today's shed be a transgender male

It only lasted two seasons so it wasn't very popular when it originally came out. So, I'd probably say that it wouldn't work these days either. Personally, I happen to love the series. On Saturday nights (after my niece and nephew go to bed) I watch it on Metv. The first season was great in a very fun, but awesomely cheesy way. Unfortunately, the second season kind of sucks, but it's still fun despite its suckiness. I hope that at some point "Battlestar Galactica" will come back to TV and so will the original "V"

reply

The second season was nothing like the first, and completely boring. Gone were the parade of babes and the humor that went with it.

reply

I will agree. Season 2 blew chunks! It's still kind of enjoyable in places though.

reply

I've read it was all Girard's fault. The first season's swashbuckling and spandex offended his Christian sensibilities, and so he bullied the studio into all of the ridiculous changes, the predictable result which is, of course, history.

reply

Would it? No. In fact any reboot would be called Barb Rogers with a black female lesbian lead.

Should it fly today the way it was made originally? Yes. And it will again at some point.

The current woke-sploitation trend will end and the rubber band will snap back in the other direction like it always does.
