Doesn't sound good.

65 years old, missing five days in cold January mountain weather... Not good at all, even if he didn't fall off a cliff.

reply

This does not look good at all. I remember him as Vladimir Bierko, 24 Season 5.

reply

DAMN...THAT'S FUCKING WEIRD...I HOPE THE WARLOCK IS ALRIGHT.

reply

You realize he's not really a warlock, right?

He was an actor playing a role.

I suppose you think he can teletransport himself to safety? 🙄

reply

HE'S ALSO A SPIDER EXPERT...BUT THAT SKILL WOULD BE LESS USEFUL IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES...STAY STRONG,DR.CAVANAUGH...YOU HAVE TO LET THAT LADY OUT OF THE BOX.

reply

I live in Southern California. There are poisonous spiders in the San Gabriel Mountains.

But what lady out of what box?

Kowalski, stop talking gibberish. You're awful cavalier about this whole thing.

Lets just hope "THE WARLOCK" makes it home safe.

reply

What's the snow level like there?

reply

I'm near the beach and of course it doesn't snow here. But it's unusually cold in LA right now. So yeah, the San Gabriel Mountains have had snow this season. But it's been clear the past few days.

reply

I was in Pasadena last January, and even in a drought year, half of Mt. Baldy was covered with snow.

I expect that this year the snow is further down and deep, and well. I've posted a really good look at the trail on the third page of this thread, and even a quick look would show how dangerous could be in winter weather.

Boxing Helena.

reply

"Boxing Helena" sounds like a very disturbing movie.

Do you recommend it?

reply

Yes and no. It's interesting but kind of frustrating, if I remember correctly.

reply

Get out. He's a warlock.

reply

Missing for 5 days doesn't sound great, but here's hoping he's lost and found alive.

reply

Unless he took winter camping gear with him he is toast, they found his car but not him which means he would have been out with no shelter, frostbite and hypothermia are going to be fighting over him.

reply

This has been confirmed by regular media outlets, but the daily mail is a tabloid.

reply

They're usually on point with most things. Very thorough with a lot of their articles.

reply

The Daily Mail doesn't bother with political correctness or sensitivity, so people who like that kind of thing try to dismiss it, but they provide a lot of information nobody else chooses to include in their reports.

reply

Oh no!!!! Oh I hope he's found safe. 😔😔😔😔

reply

Oh dear! Those mountains are high and rocky, and the weather has been seriously bad for the last week. It's very difficult to find people who are lost or injured in that kind of terrain, even in a park. And if he is on Mt. Baldy itself, well, Mt. Baldy gets snow over much of its height even in dry years, right now it must be positively Alpine.

I hope this turns out well, but I wouldn't put money on it.

reply

Sad to hear this, five days is a long time. Hoping for the best. Thoughts to his family and friends.

reply

To build a fire? What assets does he have with him? Haven't given up but survival doesn't look likely .

reply

I've heard that he's a major trail nutter, a super-fit guy who has spent decades hiking the most challenging trails he can find, so I suppose that there's a chance he has survival skills that match his fitness level. Maybe if he went out in the dead of winter, in an isolated area and at altitudes that have snow, he had the sense to bring a survival backpack with food and a survival blanket or something that might help him make it through five days of freezing isolation.

But it's more likely that he's dead, or injured and unlikely to be found in time. Those mountains are dangerous all year round, and he was a long way from other humans. The Crystal Lake area is far from any town, or cell tower (I presume), and there wouldn't have been many other hikers there in the dead of winter. Most of us know better.
