I’ve been feeling the same. I’ve never been a prolific poster but I’ve really slowed my contributions. What’s bumming me out is I get very few responses when I post on a movie. And although unscientific, it seems like most posts here are now about political and controversial social issues which bleed into the movie threads so that everyone is at each other’s throats even on movies. I feel your pain man and I’ve seen you getting abused even when you try to build bridges.
shareTaking a break is not a bad thing. When you come back you have a new(er) eye for the content here. I find myself skipping more threads and avoid the ridiculousness of them. It's cleansing, in a way.

I see this site primarily as a handy reference tool when it comes to movies, e.g. ratings, viewers' comments, etc. Yeah, posting about a movie in the trending bar is short lived, a downer and discouraging. It often recedes into obscurity within seconds and it's been that way since day one here. Rarely do I get any meaningful feedback. The GD board is cliquish, shallow and sucks.
