Men: How would you respond if you were drafted for World War 3?

That would damper my career goals.....

reply

Although I’m in pretty good shape for my age, they’d have to be pretty desperate by the time they got round to asking me.

reply

Prepare for battle?

reply

I would identify as a woman based on todays rules and so cannot be drafted.

reply

WOLVERINES!!!

If there's ever a draft again, it won't be just men. Not just because of basic fairness, and because drafting only men is far too sexist for the modern era, but because of the legal confusion over who is male and female these days! Just draft 'em all!

reply

Ukrainian women are fighting on the front line and kicking ass. If there is ever another draft - which I think is highly unlikely - everyone who is of age/able bodied should be eligible.

reply

Whether women are put on the front lines of WW3 or not, armies need as many support personel as soldiers. Mechanics, cargo pilots, desk workers, radar operators and drone pilots, medical corps, drivers, and women did those jobs in all the Wars of the 20th century. All voluntarily, of course, but if there's a draft then it's not just the fighter pilots and cannon fodder who get called up.

Still, my sympathy to any drill sargeant who has to deal with the children of helicopter parents.

This is a paraphrase, but it’s close enough. A journalist asked Albert Einstein, “Doctor Einstein, if there is a World War 3, what weapons will be used?” Herr Doktor Professor Einstein answered, “I don’t know, but World War 4 will be fought with stones and sticks.”

Dr. Henry Kissinger did his doctoral dissertation at Harvard on the topic of the feasibility of limited nuclear warfare. He concluded that it was feasible. Years later, now older and wiser, he recanted that conclusion. He saw that, when the nukes start flying, EVERYBODY starts pushing The Button, and Hell comes to earth. If, God forbid, there ever is a WW 3, it won’t matter if you’re conscripted, in the Boy Scouts or a crossing guard. “The living will envy the dead.” We CANNOT have a Third World War. Period.

One of the best posts I've ever seen from Kane.

Kisses! Nailed it re nuclear war!

A co-worker was talking about how he's retiring to a farm in the middle of nowhere, a place he says that he and his family could survive if civilization collapses or everything just goes to hell. I told him I didn't want to survive the collapse of civilization, and if Hell comes to Earth as you say... I hope I go out in the first strike, as quickly and painlessly as possible.

you can work in the cyber division.

reply

By protesting in the streets that women should be drafted too.

reply

i am not sure the young people of today can fight wars the same as my parents and grandparents generation. we only have small samples from iraq/afghanistan and now russia to go by. this might be a good thing.

reply

If you mean that young people are not willingly wanting to go out and die by the masses because of decisions made by politicians, then I agree.

It amazes me that we still settle disagreements by war. It’s insanity.
