Value meals available to me at little or no cost to me. (I used the coupons) The quality of food for a buck was top shelf

Quality food rather than stuff made with cheap ingredients.

People taking some pride in their appearances when out in public.

Being able to find a needed item at a store instead of being told they quit stocking it. I'm not talking about supply-chain issues due to the pandemic; this started happening within the past decade.

reply

All true. The great irony is that unregulated capitalism is making the West like the old Soviet Union with nothing but low quality goods to spend our money on. We are becoming worthless, soulless countries that produce nothing of value.

reply

Corporate-dominated capitalism is pure evil, just as bad as Soviet communism. We need to find a middle ground. And I agree about producing more. Half the merchandise on the shelves in U.S. stores is cheap imported junk, mainly from China.

What's your preferred alternative, Quasi?

Kroger and Albertsons definitely need to be broken up. Total bullshit every day.

I never saw these, they sound great!!

reply

Make your own croutons. Easiest thing ever. Uses up old bread. You can add you own flavors, like herbs and parmesan cheese.

I miss sit down diners and family dinner restaurants that offered simple food at fair prices.

reply

Frankly I am no good at it. Plus I always preferred the canned kind.

reply

I don't remember canned croutons. When/where was this?

My 1977 Buick Regal with a T-top and a 5.0 V8 engine. It was the last car I bought before I started driving company cars. Loved it, but my husband and I traded it in for a van then we started camping and doing "See America" vacations with my son.

We occasionally fly Business Class, but most of the time we take coach - I miss meals on most flights and free drinks on long hauls.
