shareThe Oscar’s being a huge event that mattered. I really missed the days of huge Oscar ceremonies where we all got excited about the event.
The movie star era. It’s sad seeing less stars getting big, I kind of miss the days where we all went to see a movie because X or Y actor was in it. I still do it.
But when movie stars were a huge deal, Hollywood took more risks with the movie they did. With the franchise era Hollywood plays it too safe. I love my franchises but once in a while we want stand alone flicks like The mask of Zorro or Troy.
I love my mcu so much and I understand franchisees have existed since forever but I missed the days when the ones who ruled Hollywood were movie stars when directors would pay anything for Julia Roberts to appear in their films.
I feel the Oscars have gotten too political in recent years. People used to go up, thank the academy, thank people involved in the film they are winning for, thank their family, then just another thank you and walk off stage. Now a days people just go up there and say, "Screw conservatives and republicans! Screw anyone that's not a leftist democrat like me!"

Being around people who didn't have a core part of their identity revolve around whether they are a liberal or conservative....which was the vast majority.
