Movies that have been remade more than once?

King Kong
Night of the Living Dead
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Carrie
The Great Gatsby
The Mummy
Freaky Friday
Annie

Any others?

EDIT: I know that multiple films based on the same book technically wouldn't count since they are just adaptions of the same source material and are otherwise unrelated. Others have correctly pointed this out already and I've actually brought that up on these boards in the past. But let's go ahead and include those anyway just to make it more interesting and allow for longer discussion. Otherwise, this would likely be a rather short list.

The 1954 story I Am Legend (by Richard Matheson) has at least 4 film adaptations...it's a good book and places the foundations for the main character's conflict in the various film iterations...When you are the last human in a world full

Fun trivia that I bet most people don't realize is that "Titanic" (1997) was actually a remake from "A Night To Remember" (1958). Not to mention, ANTR was clearly the more superior film and I throughly enjoyed it more than the 1997 Cameron film.

The only thing the 1997 version had going for it was that the ship sanked in half (understandable given the wreck was discovered in 1985) and that the technology was better in the Cameron film. That's it. ANTR was the superior film despite being made in the late 50s.

Am I right?

reply

That title sounds vaguely familiar but I knew nothing about the film. That definitely sounds interesting though. I may even watch it tonight!

It's free on YouTube.

Thanks for the heads up!

There are some people who dont realise the first incarnation was an actual real life event.

reply

Titanic (1997) is not considered a remake of Night to Remember (1958). It's a completely different story based on the same historical event.

reply

Yeah, I never thought of it as a remake. I like the newer version just because it looks so good, but A Night To Remember is a much better story.

reply

Having been interested in the Titanic for some time, I also like the 1997 version because of the attention to detail. James Cameron was able to access the blueprints (that were thought to have been lost) and plans courtesy of shipbuilder Harland and Wolff, who found these in their private archives.

Someone should remake A Night to Remember using these blueprints and plans.
